Off grid lead acid bank to new LiFePower 4 bank
Switched my main power cables from the old lead acid bank to the new EG4 LiFePOWER4 bank by Signature Solar. Updated my charge controllers and in inverters to the correct voltages and launched Optics RE by Outback Power.

"Side the dude right across".
Whoa whoa whoa hold up people before you take this advice he didn't tell you that is full of grease.. and it's going to get everywhere,,🫤
This EG4 battery pack is not UL9540 rated for residential installations and as such, home owners will not be able to legally obtain a permit for its installation in the U.S. You are doing your viewers a disservice by recommending this product for residential installations.
You didn't pack with grease, is this just a demo?
I am getting ready to do an LFP upgrade with EG4-LL batteries on a very similar Outback off-grid system. Would you by willing to share your charge settings for the inverters and generator? Any follow-up videos coming on your experience since the install?
Nice video. I can appreciate the second set of hands because these new inverters are very heavy and tough to mount at that height. I noticed the 4 wires coming into the top of your AC panel. Is that your generator wiring and if so is that the red wire connected to your inverter's AC HOT IN terminal?
I don't know why but this video was really hard to find for me in particular 20 years ago or better. I used to work at a place that rebuilt these and put new ball bearings in them. Must the workforce was inmates but we used to rebuild them and Lock Haven Pennsylvania trying to remember how to take them apart
Very nice video. I have recently upgraded to the same exact equipment. I also have the older Outback panels with the normal-bypass wheel. However, I'm having trouble understanding how that is supposed to be wired up since I inherited this system from the previous owner. Can you do a video on that AC panel or explain how that bypass is supposed to function. Do you also have a generator tied to this panel to also charge the batteries if necessary? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can rotate the outer retainer and it will come out also ...makes it easy to clean and inspect everything
Incredible system. Thanks for sharing.
Awsome new setup! How old was your older battery bank?
Do your inverter fans run for a long time?
How do you synchronize the two inverters? Is there some kind of signal voltage that controls the frequency and phase so they don't blow each other up?
When I put mine together the top three I had to lift the batteries to get them to line up.
it looks good but now i like to see it build to 400 volt
I heard you recently lost your beloved pup, i am sending my regards and condolence for such sad news. We watched the videos of them playing with Sierra, they look so happy together. Beautiful dog he was❤.
You can use the VFX inverters, you didn't need to change anything. I have 4 x 3648 vfx with mate 3s and optics RE and I have SOK batteries and I use the Flexnet to control via SOC% my ac coupling skystreams and solar. Honestly don't see any real reason why you need to upgrade to fxr. I can control everything from my cell phone anywhere I am with opticsRE and the mate3s
Nice! I watched this because I'm currently replacing my lead batteries with those same Lifepower 4 batteries and I have the same inverter as your new ones. Any chance you want to offload the old parts for a low price? I'm thinking of moving my old lead batteries to the well pump and powering the well with a few extra solar panels, but I need split phase 240 to run the pump. The well is 300' from the house which is why I'm thinking of options.
Blow did you get the ring off on the dc box side?
Где смазка владимир урал.
Good show...Had simular issue mounting....try different position of Battery Mount Bracket.....ie 180 each...how else to explain.
Some of the holes in my rack didn't line up perfectly with the batteries either. I ended up taking a step bit and drilling out the holes in the brackets a little bit until I could get the holes lined up.
Appreciate your videos. I have a question regarding the cables connecting the batteries. Some people have the grey cables connected from the right port up the the next batteries left port. Others are just opposite. Does it matter which method is used? Thanks
Hi Cody, writing all the way from Jamaica. Congrats on your move from Lead Acid to Lithium and the new Outback Gear! The picture that starts off your channel is really heart warming and is a reminder that in all my travels to the USA over the last 30 years, I have not really seen the best parts and perhaps the best people as I have only visited the East Coast. P.s I hooked up my first lithium battery yesterday (EG4-LLv2) and I am beyond impressed. I am going to get the 3 unit cabinet soon. Keep up the good work on your videos!
Looking good, I hope it works well for you.
Where is the pin u take out on the inside of the outer axle i can't see it
Have you considered installing solar assistant in a raspberry pie? It’s awesome, and you can monitor and change settings in your system from anywhere too
I thought about doing a raspberry pie but since the EG4 has its own system and all my Outback stuff runs on optics re. I figured a cheap small computer would do the trick. What is solar assistant?
Nice job on the upgrade! We did four of these in the rack and they've been super solid all winter. I did add a 400amp t class fuse like Dave Poz.
Nice work...
Congrats. Mine was "free" during their six-battery bundle sale. My casters are white...yours look like an improvement. Also the handle is black, mine is steel (will paint it black). Good luck with your new battery system!
Thanks for the video. Do you know what brand of pole mount it is that you’ve got the eight panels on?
Love
You're not going to believe the difference going from a lead acid bank to this lithium bank it's incredible. My setup is charged by 10:30 AM. Had no issues with starting both inverters 1st time.
It’s been great! I haven’t had to run the generator at all. I wish I would have gotten these a long time ago! Mine charged around noon with full sun. Still planning on putting up more panels so I can get a full charge even on a cloudy day.
NICE brother. This looks so good. Thanks so much for sharing. BTW what you going to do with your old inverts ? Thanks for letting us be a small part. God Bless.
I’m going to hang on to them. Im planning on putting up a shop and I’ll use them in that. I’ll probably try and salvage the lead acid bank to use in there as well, at least at first to help with start up costs.
@@Offgridmountainlife1 Nice that's smart. It's smart to have a back up. God Bless
Looks great, glad it's working for you. I have the same batteries and charger, how did you hook it up to the batteries to charge? Did you charge 1 battery at a time, or all at once? - thanks
With the charger from Signature Solar I did them one at a time. Once I had them all tied together and hooked up to my system they all charge at once through my Outback charge controllers.
@@Offgridmountainlife1 thanks. I'll soon be ready and I think I'll hook up the charger to the 2/0 battery rack cables and see if it will charge all at once. I only have 4 batteries right now, it should work.
Seems everyone got different busbars setups. Got mine sorted love them. Your going to be amazed at the difference. I'm running dual magnum 4448 PAE System.
Yes I have noticed that too from the other videos. I’m happy I got these buss bars but I was prepared to do have to do some modifications.
You should change your user name and password. Everyone just saw it.
The username and password randomize every time it is booted. But thanks for looking out!
Looks good, you seem to know what you're doing, hope it works well for you.
I hope it does too! Thank you
BTW best thing I ever did was move to lithium batteries. Do not miss all that water and holes in my close all the time.
Yes I have ruined many jeans filling those dang things. I’m excited not to have to do it again!
NICE BROTHER!! Love it. Thanks so much for letting us be a small part. Happy for you! Thanks for turning down the intro. God Bless brother..
Yeah I had to turn it down to 10%. I didn’t know it made it so loud!
I have the same batteries and rack. With the way they installed the side rails holding the battery shelves, there was not enough room to put the rear panel on. I had to remove the two side panels, move the mounting rails forward by two holes and reinstall everything. The only issue was that the 3 ears on each of the side rails would not be able to screwed in. Not impressed with Signature Solar's quality control. The prices were great though.
Yeah from other videos it seems the rack is always changing. But on the positive side all the tear down videos of the batteries seem to all be very quality and consistent. That’s really all I care about.
I got my batteries in January sale with a free welded rack. Totally fine rack but bus bars were a mess .Got all issues sorted finely . Been up & running about 2 weeks what a huge difference from agm batteries I had prior. Also dip switches had to be flipped Opposite as to what was shown in the download To show up on laptop wasted days on that part. Just hit 5 years offgrid in TN.
I have seen all the different buss bars from other videos. I was glad I got these but I was prepared to have to make some modifications. What do you mean you had to put the dip switches opposite? Like the master on the bottom?
@@Offgridmountainlife1 I had to set my dip switches the exact opposite of what we're shown on download. Maybe they will put it upside down.
Good job getting the battery bank together.
Thank you sir!
Love it brother. May I suggest turning down the music in your intro. Those are nice. One day I would like to buy around 12 or so of those. Thanks for sharing. Hope you post more videos. God Bless.
I will make sure to do that for the next videos. I don’t think I can do it on this one since it’s already posted. Yeah I plan to get up to 12 over the next couple years. Nice thing about LIPO is you can add as you go.
Once again, signature solars racks leave a lot to be desired in terms of fit and finish.
yeah but unless you are moving it around a lot its really not that bad. especially for the price!
I'm a truck driver but the few days a month that I'm home I'm living off grid with solar. I used the leaf modules so far but I'm wanting the batteries like you have. One of my friends has 8 eg4 like those and he loves them
I've only put them in the rack right now. I still have to install them to my system, that will be in another video. I'm excited to see how they perform.
so axle is only made of " RINGS, BALLS AND LUBE" 🤣🤣🤣THAT'S HOT
No grease you cheat
My Nissan has 8 balls and for the life of me I cannot get the last one in. Hammering it will not allow enough clearance for it to go in the slot. Is the some order or subtlety I am missing? I noticed some slots are slightly larger than the others. I’m guessing there’s some sort of order but I cannot figure it out. Help
Can a cv axle be taken apart like this without taking the hole thing of the truck
