    I just purchased a gas my first Char-Broil grill, it has porcelain coated grill grates. I'm not sure if I need to season them or not, I'm thinking about doing it anyways. I did have one question, I was thinking about lining the bottom with aluminum foil and poke a hole where the drip container is. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688
      @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688 10 месяцев назад

      Good question. The porcelain coated grates don't benefit greatly from the initial seasoning but the process does make sure any impurities in the coating process are removed which is very beneficial. As for the aluminum foil it is a very good idea. Just be prepared to make frequent changes. Thanks for the questions and best of luck enjoying your new grill.

    • @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688
      @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688 2 года назад

      That depends on how much you grill on it. I clean the grates while they are hot after each use. The bottom of my grill pulls out so I can clean it. I do that every 2-3 weeks. The every spring before grilling season really kicks in I give it the thorough cleaning and re-season it. I hope that helps.

    Great video!! Does this type of seasoning apply to all propane BBQ Grill like a Weber grill? As a 1st time owner, what else is needed, do i wash the grill grates 1st before seasoning with vegetable oil? By the way, whats a crisco? is that some kind of margarine? thanks

    • @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688
      @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688 2 года назад

      Yes, this procedure will work for all types of gas grills. You could wash the grates if you noticed anything excessive but the first burn in will remove machining and processing oils. Crisco is an all-vegetable shortening.

    • @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688
      @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688 2 года назад

      When you turn on the burners you will hear the propane jetting out. When you hit the igniter switch another sound as the flames take over the tubes. after that you will hear a little crackle as the flames come out of the tubes. All of these are normal sounds you will encounter. Enjoy your propane grill.

    • @bucknutzbackyardbbq8688

      It is usually one of two things. The first can be a leak in your hose. Try soapy water on the hose while it is open to see if you have any bubbles indicating a leak. If that isn't it it might be in the regulator. Turn everything off and then disconnect the regulator from the propane tank. Wait a minute or two and reconnect it. Open the tank valve first and then the burners and fire it up. If you shut things off in the reverse order sometimes this can happen. Let me know if this helped and good luck.
