Hi, I've got 5 hens, but only get 2~3 eggs a day What can I do to help them? They don't seem egg bound and 2 are gold lace waydonett but went through a molt and are bullying one bird.

I don’t get it, they took eggs from a mother duck and gave them to a broody chicken? What about the mother duck?

Great video. Good point about giving them enough space. Once, I crowded a bunch of carrots too close to one another. It didn’t stop them from producing carrots, but the lack of air circulation between plants caused a disgusting sludge/slime to develop on the soil surface. I also notice that the leaves tend to dry out quickly. Nice share. Be well. - Colin

Great video! Deep bedding and deep litter methods are great! We do this in our chicken coop. Another benefit is, it produces heat, which is nice for the chickens when it is cold. Our coop pile gets super hot in the winter. It steams. I usually clean it out in the summer. The chickens turn it into great composting material. New subscriber here! Be well. - Colin

As a potato loving person from a potato eating country, i love seeing people grow and harvest their own potatoes! Have you tried digging them up with a fork? In my experience that works better as it brings the potatoes up more and leaves the dirt behind. But some tiny potatoes COULD be left begind tho but thats for the little wild friends😁

Perhaps your soil is not deep, as that was to me a very unthorough digging up of a plant. You would miss half or more of the potatoes that I would get, riddling the soil more comprehensively. But perhaps it works for that breed and soil type.

My friend has a Silkie and she is the best hatcher and mother out there. Shes raised Rouen ducks, call ducks, and at least 3 different kinds of chickens and they are all super sweet. My friend got some unsocialized Mandarin ducks and once the girls choose to lay some eggs they are going right to the Silkie.

I have done this myself and Its true! An easy way to test is Put the egg in a glass of cold water: a fresh or fairly fresh egg will lay on its side and as it ages it wil begin to stand up on a end and if it floats just a little scramble it. If it floats to the top dispose of it. Its due to the egg slowly overtime absorbing airthus allowing bacteria to form.

My chickens could not figure out nipple waterers. So I use the water cups. 5 gal bucket and drill in the bottom to install cups.. the bad thing is the chickens can break them if they try and stand on the cups. But no mess and no spills.
