Does ANYONE care about the massive out of control wildfires and global warming temperatures we are facing now? How much hydro does a data centre use? Who is this data centre being used for? Do we want American technocrats running our country, replacing jobs with robots? How can we even think of increasing oil production and emissions, or cutting carbon taxes on big polluters while our global warming trajectory is on an upward trend. Oil production waste is polluting our rivers and streams up north already. If we want to support technocrat billionaire dictator wannabes we are headed that way with K’OL leading, wonder how much he is being told he will make for his troubles? We have a choice MAKE OUR PLANET GREAT AGAIN or hand off our children’s future for MONEY!

There is not a lot of fiber providers to get back to other metro markets, but a quick analysis of what the latency would be back to a major network hub does make sense as a location. The cost per kWH would need to be sub $0.05 ideally. These grand plans take years to design and permit. There is defiantly a need for more data centers in Canada. Estimated RTT Latency 4ms on 400 Gbps services back to any major carrier hotel in Edmonton, AB. Hope to hear more about this soon.

Alberta is the place for sure. And Grande Prairie is a great hub to centralize most activity from it happens. But I think this will turn into a gong show once all the politicians get into this and see it as the latest sizzling steak to sink their teeth into. Let just wait and see when we are truly ready to get moving. Having half the country packing their luggage because they see another “Oil Boom “ happening like in the 70s into a region that is a not built to withstand rapid growth and development . Remember O’Leary needs to raise 70 BILLION and he’d said it several times before it gets started . I see this as one big advertisement for this project. So Ask your elders and Grand Parents what happened to the last oil boom.

I’ve heard many building permits have been approved. Alberta Premier Danial Smith is a big fan of the project and has made it a Priority by speeding up the Approval process.

It's true we have potential to produce energy on this scale in the Grande Prairie area, however theblast megaproject claiming to capitalize on this fell through after much hype. Oleary spent more time whining about permits in the states in his interviews which makes me think he is using this as leverage to get a better deal elsewhere but in all reality i think he talks a big game but will fail to come through. Alberta should be looking hard at electricity production and the good side to this fantasy is it may draw serious interest in that aspect. Wonder Valley? It will be a wonder if it happens at all.

Grande Prairie, Alberta. This is a city of 70,000 people. The city is home to a highly skilled work force of Oil and gas technicians, Forestry professionals, Electricians, engineers, logistics layout professionals, chemical engineers etc. O'Leary plans to use the regions massive supply of natural gas for power as well as it's skilled trades workforce from Grande Prairie. Grande Prairie has a large airport, a national railyard and depot, two regional hospitals, Diagnostic facilities, a trade and tech college, a vast supply network of services and equipment, construction and engineering firms and a huge serviceable trucking network.
