    I went and got me a classic henry yesterday. I have the same exact problem!... Poor machine work and would fire the round but would not eject an empty casing. I cycled 100 rounds and id say 80 of those would not eject! I was of course using the federal ammo. Ill get something else tomorrow and will give you an update. Thank god i found ur video, I was about to send it to the bottom of the lake with all my other firearms due to a very unfortunate boating accident last year...

I know some schools of thought would say "just send it back" while on the other hand like me " see if you can make it work , it could be fun! @@fakeitormakeit83 well, i had some winchester ammo and decided to try it out... Was not a good experience and now im in a hell of a pickle... I took my time and gave it a good cleaning and followed up with plenty of lube. Nice, smooth action without any ammo. The winchesters seemed to be a tighter fit than the federals tho. Lil more resistance when cycling and extremely difficult to get the spent shell casing out. Would not even eject one time. So, after 5 rounds i decided to just try a hard, real quick cycle but ended up leaving the spent round in the barrel and sendin the next round up into the top of the chamber and bending the round into da mb near a U shape and now it wont push back down into the feed tube and doesnt have enough room to come up and out with the shell casing still stuck in the barrel. Im extremely frustrated and disappointed with this rifle. I looked up the henry warranty on it and it says a lifetime warranty but dont know if they fix it kause im not the original purchaser....

    • @fakeitormakeit83
      @fakeitormakeit83 4 месяца назад

      @@sir.mr.georgewalter3144 maaan that sucks! I wonder if it's a matter of the actual chamber being out of spec . Or maybe something with the extractor itself not getting a goof purchase on the case rim to pull it out.

    • @sir.mr.georgewalter3144
      @sir.mr.georgewalter3144 4 месяца назад

      @@fakeitormakeit83 what puzzles me the most is the fact that I can fill the tube with any .22lr brand and cycle every round without a problem as long as the round hasnt been fired. Everytime I pull the trigger tho, the ejector leaves marks where u can tell that it is trying to catch and hold on but that shell casing is tight, almost stuck in the barrel. Unfired rounds tho, smooth easy cycle... Ive never had a rifle give me such a hard time as this one has and ive only had it 2 days...

    • @fakeitormakeit83
      @fakeitormakeit83 4 месяца назад

      @sir.mr.georgewalter3144 I am no gunsmith at all just to be clear lol. But to me it seems like there isn't enough tolerance in the chamber to accommodate the dimension of a fired casing . Beings the casing swells after firing . But then again if the extractor isn't strong enough to grip the lip of the shell after it's been fired it could be an extractor issue .

    Thanks for this video. Bar Keeper’s Friend will remove the rust from your rivets. Get the powder and make a paste, that’s pretty dry, and rub with a sponge after a few minutes of sitting. The rust will go entirely away and save your rivets from corrosion/allow your apron to be used for decades without needing to replace the rivets that’ll eventually wear through. I found you bc I was looking for info. on how to clean my Barbour jacket and they say to re-wax waxed canvas yearly. Thinking this is why your apron is so “worn in” now that it’s been washed, it likely needs to be re-waxed. Which is pretty easy to do. Only wanted to share this bc I haven’t re-waxed my jacket in years, and it’s definitely not wearing as well as it should be. Happy to have found your video, thanks!

    Great video! I'm also trying to make some custom wooden grips but for a small 38 special. I found the the Escutcheon Screws on Brownells which is what I think you used. I'm assuming I can just cut the screw to fit my grips. But did you just use the one screw that goes all the way through? what about the other side - did you use some kind of cap screw for the other side? I'm just wondering how the ferrule will look on the opposite side if it doesn't have anything to cap it off. If that makes sense.

But i just just the non threaded escutcheon for the screw head side and then the threaded escutcheon for the threaded side. I did trim the screw ever so carefully to make it just where the screw doesnt have maybe half a thread past the escutcheon and i think it looks pretty good that way .

    Good tutorial. Very informative nice pace in walking through the learning curve. Good shout out for others teaching sharpening that you believe helped you. I just bought an EverVolt wet sharpener. I was looking up how to lock guide at angle selected. When I saw you operating the standard jig that came with stone. I slapped my forehead "So Thats how they do that !?" Every chisel comes ground to the correct angle. We non pro sharpeners tend to mess that bevel up. So I am going to set up my dull yet never sharpened chisels by moving the manufactured bevel angle to the stone. Then set the screws. Long flat shank chisels are a plus. I liked also that you showed flattening and honing back of chisel as well. Very good work for sharpening and relaxing the mind as well.

    Thanks for the great video! I grew up shooting and recently inherited the same rifle. I want to clean and restore mine like you did. When you sanded the forearm, did you sand in between the groves also? They are not very deep but I'm concerned about damaging the shape of them. How did you sand this one and make it look so good? Thank you!

    • @fakeitormakeit83
      @fakeitormakeit83 8 месяцев назад

      Hey thanks for watching and taking time to leave a comment!. So with wood on guns each situation is different. But the simple answer is i didnt sand the grooves. I always try to be as least invasive as possible but when the woods finish is to bad you have to remove it. I use a series of scrapers to remove the bulk of the original finish and then steel wool to (sand) now sometimes you have to sand . But if you want to try this yourself i would suggest trying to smooth out the finish with 000 or 0000 steel wool then re oiling with TruOil or a danish oil. As long as you don't get too aggressive sanding you can preserve the grooves . I hope that helps ! Also check out mark novac on youtube he has tons of vodeos on the subject!

    What a nice job you did making the grips, you need to use at least 6 coats of tru oil lightly steel wool between each coat.

    Very nice job I really like that color where did you buy the rose wood?

    • @fakeitormakeit83
      @fakeitormakeit83 9 месяцев назад

      Hey there thanks for watching and taking time to comment ! To answer your question i got it out of a stack of wood that a fellow wood worker had given me. If im not mistaken there is a particular rose wood that you cant get any more but im sure this isnt that particular rose wood . You can buy small scrap bundles or exotic woods online at Amazon or woodworking sites . I hope that helps!

    I know this is old but use a glue stick to stick the pattern to the wood you can skip the tracing step..

      Thats a fantastic tip! I dont know why i didnt think of that at the time i was doing it ! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment !

      @fakeitormakeit83 I litterally just did the same thing for my 357. Not done with it yet. But having the pattern on it made it so much easier still had to manually mark the internal. But it's still one less step.

      And you can either file right thru it or rip it off.. glue stick doesn't leave anything behide.

    I have a 7400 that means a lot to me and I would like to have the wood redone. Is that something that you would be interested in doing

    Great video and very helpful. I don't know if you mentioned it but which stripper did you use. We have to get all the old paint out of the crevices.

      Hey there thanks for watching and taking time to comment 😀! There are two different basic types of paint strippers. A gel type and a watery type . Also i believe there is some in a spray can. Depending on the situation i may use the gel or the watery version . For Tight corners i have used old tooth brushes and the gel stripper and also some homemade scrapers and picks to get at those tight hard to reach spots . Just be careful cause that stripper , the good stuff any ways will burn your skin pretty quickly !

    Nice job. The larger Adze is a "track adze". They are still manufactured by Warwood (they even sell the handles). Note also that the curved shape is intended that way as well as there being a slight back bevel on the blade (that is for control and leverage during the scooping cut). Thanks again and have a happy day 😊...John C

      Wow thanks so much for that info! I never knew it was a track adze . I appreciate you watching and taking time to comment ! So the track adze was for adzing down track timbers?
