Khatchatchaturian - Andantino Arranged by Khazarian and Kraus
With Christine Kharazian Michaelian in a performance of our transcription of Aram Khatchaturian's "Andantino", originally for solo piano, at a Friday Morning Music Club concert at Goodwin House in Alexandria on Tuesday, October 24th. We plan to publish our transcription along with bowings, fingerings, pedalings, etc., and will announce that here and on our other social media when available. Recording was made with an iPhone 14 and a ZOOM IQ6 plug-in microphone.
Bonus: here is a link to the composer playing the original piano piece.

Düşünce - Vagif Mustafazada
Просмотров 2010 месяцев назад
Düşünce can mean "thoughts" in Turkish. It feels to me that the composer was, indeed, lost in thoughts, and perhaps, memories, as the piece unfolds. Vagif Mustafazadeh, also known as Vaqif Mustafa-Zadeh, was a Soviet-Azerbaijani jazz pianist and composer, acclaimed for fusing jazz and the traditional Azerbaijani folk music known as mugham. According to many world famous jazz musicians, Mustafaz...

I needed some #respite this evening. So much bad news, so many difficult things going on. So I decided it was time to take my own medicine and play some music that helps me feel better. No fancy production, labels, scores included. Just the music. As an aside - this is the first recording I have made on my 1929 Steinert Artist Grand, the piano that was on the bandstand at the Mt. Airy Lodge, si...

Milango del Angel - Astor Piazzola

Offered as part of my #respite playlist. I need a break; I bet you do too. Yet another mass shooting here in the USA today on July 4th as we celebrate it with at least 6 dead and 24 injured, shot by an 22 year old with an AR-15 in a celebratory parade. This makes ME sad. What can I do? As Leonard Bernstein suggested, I can offer you some music as part of my #respite playlist. Astor Piazzola's "...

[Music Starts at 5:19] Today is May 15, 2022 On April 13th, a little over a month ago, I decided to restart my #Respite series. I did this after a brief period of time in February this year when it seemed that things were really improving with the virus giving us a break and the economy recovering. That period came to an end with the resurgence of the pandemic, Putin’s war on Ukraine and increa...

[Music starts at 4:15] Just a few months ago, I thought it might be time to sunset my #respite playlist, if not my #unknowncomposersworthhearing playlist. That was back in those sunny days when it seemed that the jaws of the COVID dragon were at last off our collective necks, and before Putin launched his attack on Ukraine. “Not so fast, dear boy, not so fast”. Now, on top of the ongoing politic...

[Music starts at 3:46] Needing a break from the din of bad news - the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ascendance of hyper partisanship in my home country, fires in our west, floods in our southeast, the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban, and on and on, I recently asked myself, “what is mine to do in these challenging times". One answer that came to me is that I could use what talents...

Thank you for your comment. I'm glad Tsuji's music, and my performance, touched your heart.
Beautiful! and I hear the piano celebrating it’s reunion with you and the room👏👏👏💐🙏❣️
Thank you, Christine.
Very well played… subscribed !
Thanks for listening and subscribing!
Astonishing composition and the composer!
Thanks for watching. Blanchet was quite the composer and a heck of an interesting man of his times.
@@RockvillePianoGuy I just discovered him today. I want to listen to more of his compositions. they are so unusual!
Really nice!
It was mesmerizing to watch you play with crossed hands so much. I appreciate hearing the piano played softly and less like the percussion instrument it sounds like to me so often. Thank you for giving a context to the piece. The dissonance was made integral in context.
Thank you watching, listening, and appreciating.
Yes, Peter would have liked this very much. Heavily influenced by minamalism. I like your pedalling.
*minimalism
Glad you liked it! No praise so sweet as from a fellow pianist and Feuchtwangerian.
Danke
Glad you liked this.
the midrange is wonderful on that piano
wow nice piano. good to see/ hear. there should be quality pianos only (in my dream world)
this is just fantastic. I could do without the emo/ identity politics. :-)
Thank you for your comment and perspective. I'll take both under consideration as I move forward. Glad you liked the piece, my playing, and the Bechstein.
This is by far the fastest performance of this charming piece on the Web. Which is not to say that it's too fast: not at all. In fact, I think that it works very well.
I performed this with my Cellist as an encore!
Thanks for the compliment. Glad you liked the piece and the performance.
Lovely piece, praise to both the singer and the pianist, kudos.
Amazing!
Very nice - this is perhaps one of Mahler's finest lieder
This lied has a wonderful piano part like several of Brahms' best. Often - the piano part can be crucial in heightening the emotional intensity and beauty of the lied. A fine job from both singer and accompanist.
@mytchilla Thanks for the compliment. Working with Jennifer was a real pleasure, because, with her, I serve as "collaborator", not just, "accompanist".
they have really lovely sound, both voice and piano
Wonderful tone and breath technique!
Very nice!
*Spectacular* playing as always.
FIRST!
