My Journey With Alopecia
About two years ago, I began to notice the symptoms of a condition called alopecia. It started with small patches of hair falling out in the shower and ended with every hair on my body falling out. This video is my story and I’m sharing it in hopes to connect with others going through it. It can be a devastating condition emotionally. You’re not alone. I’m sharing this video in hopes that I can connect with other people battling the condition and together we can overcome it!

Honda CBR 600 Cam Chain Tensioner (CCT)
Просмотров 165 тыс.12 лет назад
I recently had the all to common "CCT" problem in my CBR 600 F4i. I wanted to post this video to give others a better idea of how this works and what they might be able to do to try to fix it before bringing it to a mechanic. Hope this helps

Thanks for this. I bought a new genuine CCT and was messing around with the locking pin on the back of it when it popped out and the tensioner sprung out to full length. Thought it buggered it until I saw your video and how easy it is to wind back 😅 bravo sir

The tensioner has an oil valve that keeps the ctt with presure depending on the oil presure. That valve is what usually gets damaged so there wont be much presure for the tensioner keeping your chain tide.

  •  Год назад

Well O remover the cct, O checked it and it worked fine, but I trayed to push the chain guides with my finger but damn its very very hard, it just won't move, I doubt the cct piston will be able to move the guide after I realse it. My noise is still there so didn't fix my issue, maybe my piston is too weak?

Thanks heaps. 2000 CBR 600. Only had to remove the tank and the left side faring. I got my wife to pull the back wheel in travel direction with the bike in 6th (advice given by punter below) while I used a watchmaker screwdriver to screw in then release. No tapping noise now.

There is no reason to drop the block to get to the cct, I've done it by removing the tank alone but if you have trouble getting to it, you can dislodge the trotllebodies and at that point it's right there with nothing in the way. All the cct I've replaced seemed to work fine but for some reason didn't cut it anymore (a Honda thing) . My advise: get a manual cct. Yes you need to adjust is yourself and it sounds like a hassle, but it really isn't. Once it's on you can reach it once you get the tank up Just turn it in with your fingers until you feel resistance. Start the engine. Now turn the cct in little by little and give the engine some blibs (temporary Rev increase) until you hear a whining noise. That's the sound of the cam chain whizzing along the chain guide under to much tension. Then turn the cct out until the whine dissappears and you should be all good. Secure the locking nut on the cct and go for a test drive. With a warm engine and standing next to it, give her a few good revs, there should be no chain clatter (too loose) or whine (too tight).

You dont have to drop the motor lol...or even take the gas tank off.. You have to take off or loosen the top right fairing and remove the stash box then, lift the heat cover out of the way and its right there.

Hallo Steven, many thanks for your video. I know your video is already one year old but I still wanted to share my mind with you, by the way I'm Patrick from Germany and 22 years old. I guess I can say I have the same shit as you, I have it already since 4 years and completly hairless at my 18th birthday. I could really felt every point you have said. Some days are really hard, speacially during this corona situation. I think social media is one of the biggest problems I have to live, because you always trying to compare yourself with others. And I really think this is the wrong way. I was also thinking about to get an permanent tattoo for eyebrows, because for me it always looks weard on pictures, even after four years. Speazially meeting with new girls is really diffecult. You cant go out anymore and dating apps are just the wrong way to go for with this hair condition. The recent three years I thought that I'm alright you know, never really had the feeling to had to talk to someone. But during this Lockdown this really came back up in my head. So I just want to say thank you to bring up my smile again. By the way you look awesome, and bad ass as you caled it. Take care. Patrick

Hey Steven. Thank you for sharing this. Your video is encouraging. I share the same. It startet 1.5 years ago with a small spot on my beard. Now there is no hair left in my entire body. Went thru doctors, but dont want to take medication. As you say, some good and some hard days. Pretty challenging. Changes my appearance. Stay strong. Best wishes 👍

Hey im Tom age 19, i started having huge bald spots a few years ago while i was in highschool. That was.,exactly a journey. Other people started spreading rumors that i had a sexual disease, that was very difficult. The hardest part is definitely depression that comes with it, i have grown to live with it, of course it is still is there. I like to think we are getting a head start on gowing bald when we are old. In a way that makes us stronger and already emotionally fit. Thank you for talking about it. Live life and have fun doing it.

I can tell by the way you write about it that you have gone through the rollercoaster that this condition drives you through. It's also very apparent that you are very self aware, which is a trait that people don't develop until later in life. This condition is not what we asked for, but it was what was given and it is our responsibility to learn from it. No one will know what you have gone through, or what you will still go through from time to time. There are 7 million of us, so you're not alone. Reach out if you are ever having one of those tough days! Cheers Tom! Steve

@@Tom-tk2we I always thought that this condition would prevent me from landing a great job, especially since I wasn't happy or fulfilled in my last job that I had when I began this journey with Alopecia. The question is: what do you want to do? Are you in school/ planning to go to school? there are so many lucrative careers out there and lots of them are even remote. You're so young, time is on your side.

Hi there we are a force to be felt with , I went through exactly the same story you do but for much longer . I'm black English and had this for nearly 30 years but have got so used to it as everyone said it suits me , just would like the eyebrows. Microblading is a option but wandering if I could get get them tattooed. But as you said no shaving hair products and your not alone out there

Well done video. Thanks. I've had the same issue on my 2012 cbr1000rr 30K miles. I managed to do as you say, make a short, stubby flat head screw driver and wind the tensioner screw all the way in and then released it abruptly, allowing the pin to reset and fully wedge itself against the chain guide tensioner rail. The process gave enough tension to the chain to take up the slack and get rid of the vibration noise around 4K RPM. One thing I would recommend while doing that is to put the bike in 6th gear, while it's on a bike stand and apply tension to the rear wheel pushing it forward. Doing this allows the timing chain inside the engine to fully tighten up on the drive side and fully loosen up on the opposite tensioner slack side. Have a second person apply tension to the wheel in previously decried manner while you wind up and release the tensioner screw. This will give maximum allowable chain tension. Additionally I would discourage the use of commonly available manual chain tensioners, since when using those you are recommended to remove the valve cover to get to the timing chain and acquire the proper tension measurement between the cam shaft gears for setting the manual tensioner bolt. It would be easy to overtighten the manual tensioner leading to possible premature wear on the timing drive components. Stick to the OEM CCT, since that's the part that was designed by Honda engineers for those engines. Cheers.

I have a 05 cbr600rr that started making this noise I pulled the cct out and inspected it looked perfectly functional, I replaced it any way with a oem tensioner and the noise is completely gone, so what I'm trying to say is that these tensioners don't always look bad save yourself the frustration and just replace it its only cost me $75 for the cct and gasket and my particular bike was a piece of cake to do it only took 45min in and out including the removal and instalation of the side plastics

Hey I have the same model bike but 06, was wondering whether while removing the CCT you had to makesure the motor stayed top dead centre? Im wanting to replace mine and the CCT isn't a big deal to replace but a few people on the forums have horror stories of the timing being wrong afterwards due to it turning a bit when removing the original CCT
