Cadillac CTS 2003 PCV blocked 3.2

An engine oil leak & burn (smokes) happened because of blocked PCV system on my Cadillac CTS 3.2 engine (2003). I know this is a common problem and GM released a Service Bulletin. I need to clean PCV system hoses and Oil separator can obviously to prevent back pressure build up in crankcase.

This is a first test run of cine projector "Ukraine-7" manufactuerd by LOMO in 1989. This is the latest model of "Ukraine" 16mm projectors series. All the wiring was made for temporary use without proper connectors just to see if it works fine. LOMO audio amplifier is used.

How much is this job
It depends what exactly job you mean. Vacuum lines replacement, or entire system rebuild, including vacuum components replacement. The GOOD news: access to parts for replacement is quite easy. The BAD news: some of OEM parts are not available for purchase anymore.
How to diagnose this problem. ? All this time I've thought it was the power steering fluid leaking. How to repair?
For initial diagnostic I would suggest to check if there is build-up of crankcase pressure. To check that you should start engine, keep it running for few minutes, turn it Off and slowly open Oil cap. If you can hear pressure release hiss, then most likely your PCV lines are blocked and should be repaired. If there are no crankcase pressure after engine was running, then probably PCV system is functioning properly, unless valve cover seals are so much damaged that they can release pressure in the meantime (which is quite unexpected).

Yep, this is typical issue for 3.2L engines. The issue is when PCV valve pressure release port is clogged, then pressure builds in crankcase until it bursts valve covers gaskets. After that valve cover gaskets starts leaking on exhaust manifold and you get smelly smokes. I would recommend to watch the following RUclips video how to fix this issue: "CTS Burning Oil Under Hood (PCV Valve Repair)"
My 3.6 is having the same problem as well. I just recently bought a cts and did sparks and coil pack plus a oil change. It’s smoking from somewhere but I’m not sure where this my first time dealing with a GM cause I’ve always owned a mopar. Is it really just a valve clogged up?
It may be possible, however 3.6L engine uses quite different model components for PCV system and I am not quite if they are also prone to fail as in 3.2L. You can easy check if you have a problem with PCV system: simply start your engine, keep in IDLE for few minutes, turn it off and open motor oil refilling cap. If you will feel some pressure built, then you probably have an issue of clogged PCV system. If there is no pressure, then most likely your PCV system is not clogged and you have oil leak because of other reason (like worn valve cover seals etc.).

If I put a custom intake and delete the value chambers and what not on the intake u shaped tube and just run a long line to the heater valve it should be fine right?
In my opinion it still would be worth to keep vacuum chamber connected even with custom intake system. As vacuum chamber works as a vacuum accumulator and reduces vacuum level pulsation overall vacuum system when engine RPMs changes.

Hi, thanks, I am good. The PCV valve is located at the back side of engine. There is pretty tight space. The following video is very informative guidance to restore your PCV valve. However myself I did the shorter fix. I did drill out smaller holes at black plastic unit which is on top of engine. And I did clean the crankcase pressure port at PCV with small diameter screwdriver. To do this I just unplugged pressure hose from PCV valve without uninstalling valve itself. m.ruclips.net/video/Du9tp0yliyE/видео.html.

Hi I remember when my CT’s had a light cloud of white smoke that would come out of exhaust but after running a while it would go away also their would be light smoke coming up near the window washers would that be a Pcv valve head gasket was replaced a while ago

Just got my spark plugs and coil packs done, a week later noticed a little oil, had them do the intake and valve cover gaskets, 2 days later fresh clean oil leak again! Took it back to my mechanic and he just pretty much explained this video. He actually asked for the link to compare notes with. Love my 3.2 CTS but the last 3 months have been a pain! Thanks for the video!!

Having the same problem it's supposed to be a pcv valve and pcv catch in the back just bought the plenium gaskets I think you might as well do the valve cover gaskets while your there.
Thanks for advise! Indeed the clogged PCV system is the main problem. I did clear tubes and PCV canister "dirty air" pinhole. I did drill out to larger diameter PCV "dirty air" hole to plastic intake part. However I had no chance yet to inspect and possibly clean "fresh air" PCV part. Anyway my quick fix halped and it seems that no crankcase pressure is built up. Later I have to finish my cleaning to make sure system is ready for long run again.
Also when i did the spark plug job on my this car and there is a plug in the back of the plenium. Its a vacum motor or something it goes bad often but that's a ziptie fix it cuases the car to feel sluggish. Anyway good look that fixed my problem
