This is the fastest mk1 Lotus Cortina in Australia and what a drive by Scott Fleming
OMG That baby's dialed in perfect!!! The gear ratio is spot on and so is the Driver ! Wow... The cam geometry is spot on and spring rate perfect, a drivers dream.
Great video, really good fun to watch these drivers behind the wheels of some amazing cars.
Beautiful...
Looking for a good Ford cortina G.T in South africa.
MK 1
Fabulous. Forgive my ignorance but why does such a fast car start so far back on the grid?
My MK1 Cortina could smoke my old man's 302 fairlane into town, he absolutely hated it. No matter how he tried, and as l would frequently remind him, mine was a faster car. Then made the best mistake of my life, I bought a 1975 RX2. A mistake because I sold one of the best cars I ever owned, and the best mistake, for one of the best cars I've ever owned. That certainly was, by, by daddy.
What an entertaining race. Superb classic saloons. Brilliant drivers. The MK1 Lotus Cortina would frequently punch above it's weight.
so pleased with lotus Cortina,,, embarrassing v8's
The Cortinas here are mostly imported Lotus modified. Don't forget the Aussie made GT and GT500 versions modified by Harry Firth before he changed to HDT. Firthy and Bob Jane won the first Bathurst 500 race in a GT.
I saw Jim Clark and Graham Hill, both in works Cortinas have an absolute ding-dong of a battle, leading the field by about half a minute after 12 laps. This was Oulton Park, about 1967. They were there for a F3000 race later, but had joined in this touring car race as a crowd pleaser. They were about 3 or more seconds a lap faster than the rest of the field. Clark led most of the way but Hill was snapping at his heels and they took it in turns to put in the fastest lap, both breaking the existing touring car record by big margins. They came out of Old Hall corner on the last lap, Clark moved over and they crossed the line side by side. Those were the days!
Had a standard Cortina, lowered, noisy exhaust and a stripe down the middle, every thing you need to believe you in a rocket.
It is funny to hear the Falcon described as a big car. I understand the comparison in this race. But in the US when my grandmother had a Falcon in the mid-60's it was considered a "compact" car. Us kids thought grandpa was cheap to buy her such a little car. He drove a Lincoln. Now that was a big car.
Bang....3rd gear
Welch ein großartiges Rennen👍Lotus Cortina💪🤩👍Respekt☝
Like a hot knife through butter… awesome drive!
Terrific racing, just shows how determined ‘pester power’ coupled with superb driving in a Mk1 Lotus Cortina can secure the dream result!
Yeah the Corty...
That little Cortina holds its own against some V8 legends..
One the coolest cars ever made. A little badass!
Have my 1965 lotus Cortina garaged at my 1965 house. Rog. Pacific sunset records show
Please tell me why some get a semi about v8 cars? The Lotus Cortina shows how much more complete a car like that is
Because purely simple engineering oodles of torque and power can move plenty of weight to I happen to like them all
That was bloody awsome! 😎👍 I realy enjoyed that, a great little car with a very good driver, can't ask for much more. Great drive mate 👏👏👏👏👏😎👍
The lotus cortina was one pocket rocket, especially when you concinder it's inception date. Colin Chapman was certainly on to something 😎👍
I have a 54 year old mk1 Cortina 1500 deluxe sitting in my garage I am so privileged I love it to bits!! I will never sell her
Mk1 65 GT, production date 11-64, 1500cc 2bbl Weber, pos.earth, , first car .miss it. Thank god for these videos.
Legend
They should not have stopped making these cars the best English production car ever
I bought a Lotus Cortina on my 30th birthday in 1973 for $300. It was a mess but I had a wonderful time bringing it back to life. It was a great car to drive and a wonderful "sleeper". I blew off a 63 Porsche Carerra 2 in a spontaneous drag race. Great fun. One of many cars I bought cheap and sold cheap, never knowing what prices would do. Don't ask what I sold the Porsche Speedster for.
my dad had one.... now I have one... never thought it would worth 100K now....
Absolutely brilliant. This is what motor racing is all about
Colin chapmans little Lotus cortina pissed all over that old iron!!!.
I have very fond memories of Mk1 Lotus Cortinas, used to see an ex Jim Clark one on my way to school, great cars to drive too.....
i still love watching this after so many years
Would be interesting to see a race among modern "normal" cars. You know, Camry, Impala, Crown Vic, Sebring, etc.
love that cortina
its not about having a fucking v8 or hp but its about bloody power to weight ratio.
Great drive..
Excellent driving from both drivers ,,, but British engineering won at the end of the day
wow at that cortina
awesome video
That's my uncle
What a fun video to watch. This definitely gives me something to aspire to!
Great drive! Very fun to watch.
Very fun !!!!!!! Much fun would be better grammar.
Yes out in sync a long way. Just love mk1 corty and fact it's a lotus.
Agreed. I wish they would televise historic vintage races like this here in the States.
this is how I used to drive my Lotus Cortina to work!!
so glad i bought a mk1 cortina!!! =D this is bloody epic
this video out of sync for anyone else?
Lotus Cortina, clearly quicker then the competition
Cortina <3
