Update as of 2024: As of me writing this comment, Hand Jumper has 71 episodes, and I have read all of them. And no, my opinion on Min hasn't changed. I still stand firmly by all my points and dare I say, some of my negative thoughts on him have worsened since the release of Season 2. Sleepacross' ex assistant said that Min is actually great and we don't know that yet, but we'll have to see. I don't hate Min, nor am I biased because of other characters/ships I like (despite what others have said). I was a big fan of Min in the beginning, but he became so overrated that I just. Don't feel at all positive about him. Does that mean that I hate him? Eh, no. He's just not my favorite. Looking back on it now, this video is very flawed and I wish I did the slides with more care. But even then, I appreciate any and all comments, even though I can't engage in deep discussions with all of them. Peace!

I just came across this on webtoon and I like it a lot. It’s similar to most manhua I read where it the protagonist who has the powers of a god and is tasked to save the world. But, the main character is a girl for once and she has a twin which I really like. I also find it interesting how she’s mostly pessimistic about life and will only save the world for her sister. Also I have biases about her name being Lian and I also have a twin.

Why such a heavy bias against him? He was ordered to observe for this season, and so he did. Why offer any reactions or desires beyond that? (I'm actually surprised I never considered he'd be the spy). Also, I would not place him as a "quiet character " in either of the two architypes you mentioned at the beginning. Whatever seemingly caring thing he might do means nothing so long as he's a spy. If anything, I'd call him an "apathetic character" which seems in-line considering what he's been through. (It's his design that says it all.) First day at the Corps is probably 1st grade level reading for him.

You bring up a good point about his skill as a spy and Samin's poor choice of choosing him to protect/monitor her (despite having lots of experience in the world and being a gang leader *so she's obviously a strategist*). The fact that she went through a potentially deadly experience and all Min has done is spar with her a bit and follow orders in a battle (not even asking light questions when he hasn't been around her for a bit) is crazy and him being a spy is very poorly set up. It's kind of like two characters never interacting and then the author saying they love eachother. So far, Min seems like a horrible spy and Samin doesn't come off as a very strategic/smart gang leader.

i keeeeep coming back to this it's SO GOOD.... do the forks symbolise something? I can't help but notice the one fork with the red bow, and how only two forks are visible in Samin's chorus, but three in Sayeon's final chorus. My best guess is that they symbolise Sara, Samin, and Sayeon.

Not gonna lie, it’s always nice to see videos criticising things I like because that just means that it’s getting enough hype for people to actually be caring to deeping the situation

While reading the comic I've constantly kept thinking about who may be the spy. I understood early on that it was impossible for Ryuujin to be the spy and it was confirmed while reading the story. This left Iseul and Min. Despite this, I've never thought of Min. My options were either someone high up in the corps who we haven't been introduced to yet and was observing from the shadows or Iseul. And the more the story proceeded, the more Iseul become the best option. Even if, with the capture the flag arc, I've kinda forgot about the spy. Min wasn't even an option because, as you said, he was irrelevant. Something I have to point out thought is that it make sense he didn't intervene when Ryuujin mistreated Sayeon. It's pretty clear Ryuujin isn't a real treat to Sayeon, she won't do anything to her besides giving Sayeon some bruises. Therefore I think the lack of reaction from Min when Ryuujin punches Sayeon isn't a flaw. But the fact he didn't bet an eye when Sayeon got stabbed is indeed a flaw. His lack of intervention could've been explained with "it would've been suspicious if he intervened" or "he knew it was something from which Sayeon would've easily recovered with a bit of sleep, since she's an abberrant", but it wasn't explained at all. Just having a panel in which Min looked a bit thoughtful while looking at the scene would've been enough. But we didn't saw Min's reaction at all. When Sayeon walked up to the group after meeting the instructor Sang, when Iseul expressed his happiness in seeing her being fine, we could've had a panel in which Min thought "of course she's ok". It would've been enough of an explanation and at the same time it would've kept the mistery around Min. And after the last chapter, we, as the audience, would've connected the dots and understood the meaning of his phrase. One thing I didn't understood from your video is how you can be so sure the meeting with Samin happened right after the one with Butcher and Minnie. I've always assumed the meeting happened after Sayeon left to go to her friend's house. This would also explain why he didn't stop her from going: 1) while she left, he used the opportunity to also go meet Samin. 2) Until that moment he didn't had the job to protect her, just to watch her. I think the timeline of his encounter with Samin is a huge game changer and would make things less worst for the story, even if the fact that Min is a bland character would still remain. I also want to add that Min's lack of participation with his cellmates could be because of the opposite reason from the one you mentioned. You said he may find it awkward and difficult to connect with people younger than him, assuming he's around the same age as Samin. It's all suppositions but maybe he has always been around people older than him (also considering the fact he was trafficked to get rapture as a kid) so he doesn't know how to act around people his age and also around people who don't want to take advantage of him or make a deal/have something from him. Relationships based only on mutual need are easier than friendships, so maybe he doesn't know how to actually connect with people. This will also explain why he doesn't get close to Sayeon: he literally doesn't know how. This hypothesis could raise the question "why did Samin send someone who can't socialize to take an eye on Sayeon?" and to this question I can respond with two answers: 1) Min is the only one in the Crimson Society around the same age as Sayeon and sending someone older will be suspicious. 2) Samin doesn't want to control Sayeon and know every little thing she does, so she's satisfied with sending someone not so good at spying to watch over her. The second answer will also solve the problem you mentioned, the one about the delusion of knowing Min will always come to rescue Sayeon. With the hypothesis I made, it's a possibility and not something we can always expect since Min sucks at spying. And it will also explain his carelessness. Not to mention that it could also be that Samin preferred sending someone good at fighting rather than someone good at spying.

This is gorgeous! I'm still catching up to Hand Jumper so I don't know the full context for everything, but MAN. I never considered how much it might've messed Samin up to be raised by their mom.
