King David and the Dalmore 12 Sherry Cask (A Dram After My Own Heart)
Your bottle of Loch Lomond 12 looks different from mine. I wonder if it's an old bottling. Mine is 46% abv, unpeated and ncf. I really liked mine and rate it above Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie and other 12 year old Scotch. It could be batch variation or a bad batch. I had tried 3 different bottlings of Loch Lomond and liked all of them. Price is very affordable in my area.
@@chongkokchoyify I’m glad you liked it. Yeah it might just be a bad one because I’ve heard from others that they enjoyed that bottle…..it’s a mystery!
My favourite Springbank is the 15, followed by the 12 and 10. Springbank finished in sherry is heavenly. Due to price, the cheaper go-to is Longrow peated. On grace, John Bevere has an interesting take on it, do check it out in RUclips.
@@chongkokchoyify will do, thanks for sharing!
@@scotchandscripture welcome as always
Terrific message and tasting notes! This is a lovely scotch! My fave is the 18 and it's basically not available in Canada. I have to track it down or buy it when I am in the UK! Mostly these days I am a big peat head when I pour a dram. Cheers!
I bet it's astronomically expensive up there?
@@scotchandscripture It's so impossible to find locally in Vancouver or anywhere in Canada, that it would go for about $350-$400 on the secondary market which is insane! Right? Yikes! Love the 18! But it's also insane. I only guy if I am in Europe and can grab a couple of bottles!! Happy Friday!! 🙂
@@christinecamley wowwww that is insane!

I understand what you are saying now more than ever. And to laugh, after all, at the preposterous ideas of worthiness’ ‘ the basis of my personal worth is not my possessions, my talents, not esteem of others, reputation…not kudos of appreciation from parents and kids, not applause, and everyone telling you how important you are to a place….i stand anchored now in God before whom I stand naked, this God who tells me ‘you are my son, my beloved one’
@@zebwilliamson2630 wow........ amazing
This is amazing! My wife and I did our honeymoon in Scotland and I fell in love with Scotch and I truly appreciate combining it with deeper discussions of scripture as a scripture/whiskey club was pivotal for my discipleship in my early twenties. @@davidg.stanfill4698 hi mate and thanks so much for the kind words and suggestions! Glad to have you onboard. A podcast huh? 🤔 I’ll have to think seriously about that!
A paator once said " Success is knowing God’s will and doing it." I've live by this amd am 55 years old, and didn't experience any mid-life crisis. I am active in my local church and see my career as an opportunity to share the goodness of God.
That’s a blessing in itself!

I’ve got a daily routine. Get up at least 2 hours before going to work, make coffee, pray, read Bible, study or work on making a theology video for an hour, shower, then go to work. Throughout the day I’m thinking about theological stuff (or whisky stuff), writing notes and putting them in my pocket. When I get home I put the notes on my desk. Jonathan Edwards had a similar routine except he wrote notes while riding a horse.

Defo give that one a try Rob, sounds amazing value. Btw do I see Auchentoshan blood oak on your shelf 🧐 got that myself this summer in duty free but no opened it yet
That one is finished! Need to get another bottle soon. I think Auchentoshan is the closest single malt distillery to Langbank!
Out of 500 bottles of whisky on my shelf not one is from Loch Lomand. I don’t know why, just haven’t got around to it I suppose. Important to keep in mind when reading Lamentations is it historical context. It was written during a time of national judgement on Israel because of apostasy, the blending of worshipping foreign gods with the worship of YHWH. Essentially, spiritual adultery. How much of the church is doing that now?
Yeah I wouldn’t recommend rectifying that deficit!
came on to find a workout video, forget it, i'm off to get a drink and dig deep into my mid life crisis......... ......loved listening to this! good stuff.
@@zebwilliamson2630 maybe I should have a ‘please drink responsibly’ disclaimer on here 😂. Thanks Zeb
Terrific video! You can't go wrong with Craigellachie 13! The jump in price for the 17 is ridiculous in Canada but it's also spectacular - much more complex. I really enjoy the 13!! Awesome thoughts! Mid-life is a confusing time! 🙂
It's a good one I've really enjoyed recently. I agree, it's confusing but there is hope!
@@scotchandscripture Yes!! There is always hope!! Be well!! Hang in there!! 🙂
During my last trip to Scotland I stayed at Craigellachie Hotel. It's not too fancy but it has a good restaurant and a special whisky bar upstair for guests. Its a great place to say as it is centrally located in Speyside with a lot of distilleries in the area. I am 58 years old and I don't recall having a "mid-life crisis". Maybe I have been too busy and focused on other things or maybe because in the Providence of God I've learned to be content in whatever state I am in (Philippians 4:11).... except for Texas.... I can't be content in that state, it is too hot and humid with too many biting insects.
Yep I agree I could have gone for that angle with Phil 4 (and I believe that!) but I think there's an element (maybe it's more for creatives, I don't know) where the frustration creates tension that has to be dealt with. At least, that's my perspective. Maybe it will change in time.
The music is a bit distracting, it’s too loud and makes it difficult to hear you. I visited Talisker in April. It a great tour!
when we went they were booked out 6 months in advance. Lesson learned!
Ardbeg 10 is a favorite of mine! Very close to Ardbeg Distillery is the Kildalton chapel ruins and the Kildalton cross which is over 1300 years old. I named my theology channel after it. Slainte!
@@KildaltonBTS did you get to Iona? I’ve never been but it’s a pilgrimage I’d love to make next time I’m over
@@scotchandscripture No, I tend to just go where the distilleries are located and then see historical sites nearby such as castles, pict stones, standing stones, churches etc.
@@KildaltonBTS I get that. You should consider Iona next time if possible. It’s been described as a ‘thin place’ where Gods presence can be experienced. There are a couple of places on the Uk, one in Wales I believe.
Aye, I have had kidney stones a few times, went to the emergency room 3 times because the pain was so bad I was vomiting. They to put me on morphine and knocked me out. I have had really bad allergies since March seven months ago, and it was really bad when I was in Scotland and was supposed to be taking exam for the master scotch exam. I passed the oral exam and the written exam, but I couldn’t smell anything so I didn’t pass. It’s not as painful as it back injury. It’s just unbelievably annoying. I hope you recover soon. Grace & Peace.

I find Aberfeldy quite predictable and boring but I know some people like it. It's just not interesting. I hope you heal quickly! Prednisone helps! Hope you don't have many side effects. It can be a bit nasty. Be well!

Persistence, mistaken for irritation, causes us to miss out on moving mountains. Don't try to be more holy than Jesus!
I just can't get into Mortlach. I recently had this scotch but ended up giving it to a friend. I think I am a devoted peat head and tend to stick with that now. Moderation! Love your thoughts! Great videos! Oh no. I'm so sorry about your back. Sounds horrific. Don't let a chiro snap your neck! OMG - bulging disk and a kidney stone? Horrific. Drink more water - it helps. They can be crushed - lithotripsy. A Urologist can do it. It helps. Oh yes Colonoscopies are here already - about to have another. Your wife sounds lovely! I hope the kidney stone passes as easily as possible! Peat head here!! Cheers!! 🙂
I feel that. Peat was my first love and I still lean toward the peated Whiskies, however, I've been finding a lot of satisfaction in Speyside drams recently. I miss the peat but there's something soothing and Christmasy in them which also calls to me. Back and all doing better since filming! Thank you for your concern and kind words...

Thanks Steve!
I hope this helps some new Scotch fans. Get yersel' a Glencairn (in the description) and try these tips. Let me know how it goes!
Loch Lomond disappointed me and I hate being negative about ANY Whisky, but what did you guys think of this Scotch?
has the quality of Laphroaig 10 deteriorated in the new batches? I bought the version in the old tube. But the bottling date is the end of 23
I haven't noticed a difference. I've definitely bought a bottle of the 10 year both sides of that dateline, although the Cardeas changes by batch and I've heard the same about Lore. Bruichladdich has that issue also.
I love it too - big time!! In Canada it's $85.00 before taxes but that's cheap here for scotch! Love in this order - and many more - Lagavulin 16 (gateway into scotch!!), Laphroaig, Ardbeg!!! Ardbeg and Laphroaig are in a competition! Kilchomen!!! That latest Lagavulin Offerman 11 4th Edition - rum cask - is delicious!! I love the Lagavulin smoke - charred sea, oysters, lemon, pineapple - delicious!!
I haven't had the rum cask but I had the Charred oak and it was amazing. I wish I'd bought a couple more of those bottles!

I love it too. $43 at Trader Joe’s
That's a bargain mate. Jump on that!!
Whisky and Fairy Tale pairings, what an interesting way to drink scotch! Loch Lomond's Peated IB whiskies are some of my favorites, but I have yet to be really impressed with one of their Original bottlings.
