    Is it easy to convert gear cycle in single speed??

    • @GearLama
      @GearLama Месяц назад

      The complexity depends on the kind of dropouts you have. If you have short or vertical dropouts it's better to use a chain tensioner device 1. Remove derailleur and cassette. 2. Install a single-speed conversion kit (spacer, cog). 3. Shorten chain to fit new gearing. 4. Adjust chain tension with a tensioner (if needed). 5. Remove shifters and cables. 6. Test ride and adjust as necessary.

      Sir could u plz answer one more thing...should I continue pedalling while shifting gear or I should stop pedalling while changing gear@@GearLama

    • @GearLama
      @GearLama Месяц назад

      You have to peak while shifting gears BUT you don't apply force toll the new cog is engaged. The thing is gear won't shift if the chain doesn't move so pedalling is a must. The trick is avoiding using force on the pedals at the time of shift. It sounds difficult but it' comes naturally to most

      Okay I didn't flip the stem upside down, didn't want to again, deal with that annoying realignment of drop bars positions! Hola! I think you should definitely consider the nicasio+ it offers wider tyres ( more comfirt and grip) and a simple to use 1x drivetrain. I think it will suit your needs quite well. The only flaw in the nicasio and most cheaper Marin bikes has been the quality of wheels but that's something worth upgrading after a few trips

    What do you mean not interchangeable? I’m using Ta hubs with my QR frame using adapters

    • @GearLama
      @GearLama 2 месяца назад

      Yes you can always use an adapter to convert between a TA and a QR. But then you lose the advantages of a TA - rigidity, flex, secure, alignment. So I do not see the point of such a conversion unless your hub is just not available in a TA or QR version. This is what I mean by interchangeable. Can you convert a QR frame to accept TA. NO. Can you simply "make it work" yes

    I've been using EF 202 for more than 2 years. IMOP only disadvantage of 202 is it's crazy weight. It's more than gripy than you can image of a pedal without screws on it. And it's so cheap. Don't even need to consider it's robustness, if you try to destory your entire bike, i belive the pair of 202 will still last and working smoothly. Was a crazy fan of MKS pedals especially MKS-touring, but now 202 is my go to pedal now.

    • @GearLama
      @GearLama 3 месяца назад

      I still find the MKS MT LIte excellent for the city / slightly rougher tours where you need more grip. Same price. Give them a shot

    • @mohongzhi
      @mohongzhi 3 месяца назад

      @@GearLama True, i like mks MT-E and sibling AR-2. Even better than Mks Touring. It's already for me to become muscle memory to flip the padel, just like I use clipless. But i have multi bikes and usually i will let others to ride one of them, i find most of people cannot flip it and much worse they cannot even tell they are pedalling on the wrong side. So i have to check some flat padels. And i have my own to go bike (not let any other to ride due to seat post already stuck at my perfect height and i have no reason to solve the problem now) i still very happy to use shimano T8000 dual function pedals. i will say the flap side is the best among all shimano flats, but it's much expensive. i won't feel dual pedal with flat and spd are good idea because actually stack height is different for both sides so you will have to change sadle height everytime, not really worth the seconds to do that.

    • @mohongzhi
      @mohongzhi 3 месяца назад

      @@GearLama BTW MT-E is much lighter than 202, yes it's perfect if you use the bike all by yourself and it's not a fixie.

      Yes there are solutions available they are mostly for the hubs. Usually a process of downgrading the hub from a TA to a QR using an internal shim. Since QR is narrow than TA. But really on something as critical as tyre locking systems I'd rather stick to the OEM frame specs. Unless you have a wheel hub frame mismatch.
