Zenless Zone Zero: A Slick, Satisfying and Fair Free-to-Play Game
In the current climate of video games there are a wealth of video games to chose from both in terms of your hard earned dollars, and time invested in a game, and with the rise of the free-to-play model the illusion of eliminating one of those barriers to entry has only ever become more of a regular talking point for these types of games.
The practices and the way that these games conduct themselves is crucial and Zenless Zone Zero is such an experience that provides countless hours of fun, unlocks, and a versatile cast of colorful characters and storytelling that can all be accessed at no cost. Thinking Out Loud: Why Final Fantasy VIII Deserves a Remake

In the recent years we have seen a resurgence in the amount of video game remakes, and the Final Fantasy series in particular has been in the process of remaking many of their beloved games, with the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, and the rumored Final Fantasy IX remake that is said to be in the works. Final Fantasy VIII: The Misunderstood and Innovative Successor

Final Fantasy VIII is a tricky game for me to talk about, as it is one that I feel I've grown a certain fondness for, whilst absolutely despising some of the components that it entails. It is a game that is full of heart and soul, and is often misunderstood for what it is given the long-standing reputation of the entries that came prior, and the show stealing success of Final Fantasy VII. Stellar Blade: An Incredible Game with an Identity Issue (Review)

Stellar Blade is an amalgamation of many different influences, and it evidently wears them on its sleeve. It is the first Triple A outing for developer Shift Up, and for the most part is successful, delivering a strong sense of souls-like combat, that is neatly blended with a more hack-n-slash style of melee combat akin to something like Final Fantasy 16. Where the combat and exploration can fe...

    As a single player who has played Destiny since 2014, TFS is agonizingly anti-singles. The exotic mission that requires two, the legendary Cooperative Focus missions that replaced the weekly story missions needing a group, the Elite Battlegrounds this season not having matchmaking. They literally have the blueprint on how activities can be run with open matchmaking why did they make 2024's expansion so anti non-group?

    I played through FF8 when it first went out. Spoiler-free. Went internet-dark for a week. I had a fantastic time and thought I had just played the best game ever made. The ending being the best ending I've ever experienced to this day just further cinched the deal. Then I went online and was shocked so many people didn't like it. I was like, "Did we even play the same game?" Still enjoy it to this day. And I think a lot of folks overanalyze the battle system and get bogged down by popular opinions. For example, the memory loss is foreshadowed if you pay attention, and the game is not designed for you to sit there drawing 100 spells from every enemy. etc. etc.

  • @aozf05
    @aozf05 3 дня назад

    I love when people appreciate FF8 but please, for the love of god, I wish people would realize that the Draw system is not the be all end all for obtaining magic. And I don't blame people for thinking you need to sit there drawing magic all day to strengthen yourself. The game does a terrible job showing off its systems. If anyone reading this ever replays FF8, please make use of the Card command. Like in every monster battle. With Card Mod and Magic refinery. It solves the issue of obtaining magic by drawing, and it also allows you to fight monsters as you would in any other JRPGs. If you Card the enemy for the final blow, you still get to have normal fights AND you won't gain experience for it. AND you can mod and refine the card for easy, plentiful magic. For comparison, Card works exactly like catching Pokemon: the weaker the enemy is, the more likely it will succeed. And there's some fun to be had learning what monsters become what items and what items become what magics. I did a casual playthrough a while back and you don't even have to try that hard to avoid leveling or to stock up on magic this way. And using your junctioned magic doesn't impact your stats as much as people fear it does. When you have 100 of a magic, you can use like 10 or so and not feel much difference for it. Also, make use of transferring magic between characters. Stock up more than 100 of a magic and keep the extra on your reserve characters so when you use it in battle, you can just quickly transfer some over and top back up after battle. This game is not as frustrating as people think it is.

    18:31 Funny, but i found that even FF chaos found a better variety in combos than 16. And even Arise allow you to play different that of combos-styles, AND allow you tou change of character with just one button in middle of the battle. So if you have enough adrenaline, you could insane things in arise changing to all the characters.

    The problem Is the complexity, and having to be in the stupid menus too much, although I beat it, along with the Ultima, and Omega weapons, it was just okay, and I personally could care less if summons have their own HP, another problem is that the game has like half the enemies of FFVII, so constantly fighting the same bugs, and caterpillars, gets pretty old. Both games to me lack having enough cool boss characters, unlike Legend of Dragoon has, FFVIII really needed that, FF IX also, fighting Beatrix like four times was super annoying. I was thinking wheres the other cool boss characters in FFVIII? So to me FFVIII is just a weak rehash story wise of FFVII, and it was long drawn out over 4 discs which makes it even worse, I mean they went into space wearing space suits?! Talk about a dumb concept, and not only having to draw things suck, but having to boost only certain stats with certain summons is so restrictive also. Its a pretty looking game, especially the remaster, but it's not that fun. and the story is convoluted, boring eith alot of uneeded filler.

    The games full of crap, its counter intuitive and its poorly designed. You spend 15 mins drawing magic every 5 mins. You have to keep junction swapping between characters. for new players that's insane because they don't know when you need to do it so half the time you end up in a fight unjunctioned. Thirdly the stories lazy and ridiculess AFTER disc 1. The only positive I have from the game is the characters are awesome the cutscenes are amongst my favourite in any FF. Also triple triad is amazing. If you enjoy sticking your willy in summons to do all your fighting. And you love the simplicity of absolutely no gear to worry about. And you suck on lemons for breakfast, And have a neck beard - this game is for you.

    To further dive deeper into the idea of focusing on Squall and Rinoa if you look at the OST there are no character themes. Instead you have a couple of main melodies that come back in different versions throughout the game. Most notably is Eyes on Me. Waltz for the Moon, the song played during the dance scene is a waltz rendition of Eyes on Me. The song Julia plays on her piano is an instrumental of Eyes on Me, and Eyes on Me's lyrics are about their encounter at that bar. There is a lot more around this and Liberi Fatali, from small things like chord progressions to reuse of entire segments, but there is no song dedicated to any of the other party members. Uematsu said in an interview that it was refreshing not having to write character themes. Also, there is a theory around memory loss and Irvine during the assassination mission. He says it is his first time, but not only that, he knows who he is about to kill because he still remembers the orphanage making the shot much more difficult.

    Think you're far too generous. The draw/junction system has no redeemable qualities. Not that they're making a remake but they'd have to make a completely different system. Theres nothing to build off there. Also the ability for some that have already played being able to break the game early isn't a bonus. Thats not a good thing.

  • @FastrThanYou77

    The story felt like a YA novel you will find deep in the libary with a corporate art cover, but is decent. The Girlfriend system also felt like it overshadowed the other combat system since it has soo much power I never to use draw, or any other mechanic, since its way more appealing and have a lack of visible consequences. I also felt like the character cast is not as diverse as 7, since their overall architype design is way more similar. The menu also sucks since the characters equipment on the screen invisible and has to be individually checked, so dispite having an easy switching method in "switch" I still had to painstakingly off and switch in "Junction", the customizability of it is also much more lacking unlike 7

    Only saw the title and figured you were a simp for FromSoft. If this is a “masterclass” then I think FromSoft is cooked because they went ULTRA-lazy here. Think about what you commit to script because this is no “masterclass” Won’t even do you the favor of watching but you did get a comment out of me. P.S. I platinum’d every Soulsborne game and adore Elden Ring AND played through the DLC twice and it is FAR inferior to the main game and I’d encourage you to watch a couple criticisms to see why so many people think it’s not a “masterclass”. Critique is crucial for games improving and the DLC doesn’t improve on ANYTHING.

    • @tarrmusreviews
      @tarrmusreviews 26 дней назад

      I made criticisms here, my reasons for calling this a masterclass is due to how it encompasses all From Softs learnings and is a good send off to Elden Ring. Not only that I think it is a well made expansion, and is more Elden Ring which I’m fine with for an expansion. It feels like it gracefully closes off one the best games of the past few years and I get they could’ve done more but Elden Ring is already such a large experience. Think about Erdtree as a companion piece and it really is something insane, and I can’t think of many other dlcs, that deliver It sounds like my title annoyed you, fair, but it doesn’t sound like you watched the video. Criticism is important, in the case of this video you sound like you haven’t even watched it. Because even in this video I express some issues with exploration and the reliance on fragments for progression. Also lastly, it is a great expansion, Elden Ring is a masterpiece and Sote encapsulates all of that into a much smaller experience. It isn’t perfect but as far as dlc go it sets the bar high and is a masterclass, in my opinion. Agree to disagree. In any case thanks for your feedback and comments. I’ll check out some critique vids

    • @theroguerider

      @@tarrmusreviews I think it’s the hyperbole thrown around CONSTANTLY on RUclips. Perfect, masterpiece and ,masterclass implies there is nothing to take away from something other than appreciation. Obviously they are just words, but use of those words, and others, gives me this feeling of stagnancy. If we don’t push back on the ridiculous fragment system, which I understand people like, they will use it time and again. My only pushback is why did they use it at all? There are MANY other things, but I’m not going to type them all here, but even narrative concepts I felt were very poorly illustrated by the game. The game has always been very “fill-in-the-blanks”, but this DLC makes you fill in blanks that seem ridiculous.

    • @Messmer-The-Impaler-n8i
      @Messmer-The-Impaler-n8i 2 дня назад

      @@theroguerider thr main issue is that the critiques are poorly researched and often come off as a salty reaction to the DLC. Whereas the Masterclass or Masterpiece videos actually go into the issues with the expansion while staying on a more positive note. For instance just compare Feeble King's critique with Cosmic Eye's video title "Quality over Quantity". Feeble King was salty throughout. He ignored questlines, any intrinsic rewards, he ignored any new weapons, etc. To him this was a boss rush. Cosmic Eye praised many aspects of the DLC, but he did point out the issue of Elden Ring and Sekiro having no good duo bosses, even with the dlc. He points out the empty areas. Iirc he also criticised the final boss visual clutter. It's important to have a balanced view on the DLC, and imo the pure critiques never have that.

    here's why final fantasy 8 doesn't deserve a remake: square enix would be making it. It's a lot more serious and edgy than ff7. i'm not convinced they could do it justice given their approach to story telling these days. i loved 7rebirth but mostly for the silly fun stuff and quirkiness - definitely not for the story updates and lore reworking. Ff8 is more atmospherically consistent in being dark and moody ...and square could easily make a mess of that. they might have a chance at doing a good ff9 remake, which was more appealing to me in it's lightheartedness and charming world than general plot and story

    I just finished playing FF8 for the first time and I HATE it. But unlike most games that I hate, I can absolutely understand WHY people who love FF8 love FF8. My specific issue with it is that I'm not interested and don't have time to figure out the deep and involved mechanics, but I also don't want to use a guide. The game is difficult to play blind unless you have a lot of time and curiosity. It doesn't present a lot of important information (like the gf refining abilities, or that enemies level up with you so leveling too fast is bad) in the tutorials and you're expected to experiment and dissect the game's systems on your own. The translation is rough, and like you said the supporting cast feels stapled on and the memory loss sequence felt extremely out of nowhere. I think there is a good game in here, but I think the people that love it CAN love it because they learned how to avoid or minimize the bad parts of the game. Or they enjoy experimenting with character builds, which is something I personally have little patience for.

      I've recently been on the fence about trying this game, and I'd like to thank you for convincing me it is absolutely not worth my time. Any RPG where leveling up is detrimental to the player is fundamentally a hot mess.

    The weirdest thing for me with ff8 is that you're clearly supposed to be mercenaries. The game leaves no question on that, but there's no system for taking on mercenary missions outside of the main story.

    It's ironic considering now that FFVII within itself is the most convoluted story in Final Fantasy now. Mainly do to the same crew and lack of Sakaguchi. And decades later, the bread crumbs of the GF memory loss still eludes people though it was talked about through the game. The biggest giveaway was somewhat when meeting Irvine and he remembers them, but the party doesn't and you spent time talking to NPCs on the way. FFVIII has lots of little things hidden in the game for those that pay attention, but I feel the "plot twist" wasn't one of them.

    I never really understood the complaints with the draw system and "grinding." It's really a non-issue, and there's no reason to grind unless you force yourself to. Use a few cures during a boss fight? It's really not an issue. Your HP is barely impacted, and next time you run into an enemy that has the spell, you draw a couple. In fact, that's how you should approach the entire system. Draw once or twice per battle and you'll have no problems. When people complain about the draw system, I get the same vibe as people who save their items for "the right time" and then finish the game never having used an item once. The system isn't poorly designed, you're mostly just hindering your own experience.

    Just got this for ps5, great game. Love the thump sound Robo makes when he walks and the gun play is top notch.

    Re trilogy is a dream come true. It really is. Rebirth just blew my mind away, just like the OG when i was a teen. I find that it complimenting well the OG. And Rebirth made me care so much more for the characters. Learning the lore of the world was even a higher experience...truly is the best FF I have ever experience. ( I played 6 , 7 , 8, 9 , 10 , 13 ,15)

      I'm glad to hear you had such a great time with Rebirth, yeah I absolutely agree, I feel like I still have a particular fondness for the original but Rebirth foes an incredible job with further fleshing out the world and character relationships. It's not like these things were something missing from the original, but they're nice to see included in the remakes, and I love how Rebirth does its own thing, but preserves a lot of the ff7 experience where it matters, as contentious as that may be to say. I think if part 3 delivers we'll look back on this trilogy fondly as a special experience. Thanks for commenting 😊

    I’m not a fan of this game mostly because I would preferred just a Peter being the main focus of this game and save miles story for a sequel of his own. I hat the mj mission (Fuck Brian Intihar) the story was rushed, Peter had no agency, the black suit arc was rushed, Harry being agent venom is dumb because it feels like spider man isn’t special anymore now any random joe can get powers or a symbiote and move around like him that’s pretty lame and makes it generic but that insomniac with their superhero games their generic

    Ff8 was my first in the series, I was 14 and absolutely fell in love with it. As I’ve gotten older 8 is one of my favorites to revisit because of the junction system! Seriously if you put in the work in disc 1 you can become an unstoppable behemoth! It’s so fun to break this game in half
