175lb Vise Clean Up #shorts
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.2 года назад
We found this 1891 vise in the basement of a former general store in Canada. This old vise must have been sitting there for several dozen years. The vise is 175 pounds, with 6" wide jaws and an opening of over 8". We love to have the opportunity to give back these tools some much-needed love and getting them back to life. 🙌 Even after restoring it, we can clearly see that it's not perfect, but ...

Cool 👍🏻
Nice work Any chance you could share spring dimensions? I have a hammer mostly built but feel my spring is too light. If not, no worries Cheers
mc master carr part: 96485K197 Have fun forging !
had to watch it again...still just as amazing
"Can't forge today. I have a flat." Kidding. This is phenomenal! Great design and craftsmanship. Video work is also top notch. Top marks on everything.
Thank you !
Terrible filming. What’s the point of shoving the camera in the whole you are drilling. Pull it back so other could see what’s happening
Отличный помощник.
Excelente....!!! 🤙🍻
Okay...but, how much did all that equipment cost in order to make that power-hammer?
How much for the stand?
Unfortunately, we do not sell it as a product ...
Hi sir, may I ask for the dimensions of this machine? Including the area it may occupy
Its 30x30 inch by 6 foot tall
Those bolts will strip the hell out of that linkage. Bolts mark up mild steel and bronze / brass alloys will get destroyed, that connection in particular is worrisome.
Love this DIY Hammer from Cambodia
Thanks !
Would you be able to share the power/electric consumption of this machine? Wattage, etc
I use a 2hp motor wich is about 1500 w to make a round number but I bet the motor is using less than that when not under load so my answer would be an intermitent 1500 Watt
@@KOPOprojects thank you for the response, We are planning to put-up a production facility for blacksmiths here in PH. Power Hammers such as this would be a great help for the local blacksmith who do not have their own workshops
Hi sir, may I ask for the dimensions of this machine
Ham : + obviously sped up & edited out much time
DIY power hammer that would normally cost $10000 dollars at the store. Step one buy and own $100000 worth of tools. Stand by for step two.
How thick was the top plate on your vise stand? 3/8" ?? Or 1/4" ??
I think it was 1/4
I think it was 1/4

Utter genius Thank you sir Nice project for me and my dad who wants to learn forging etc during his retirement.
Have fun building !
I love the design! Please consider creating "Part 2," where you explain some of the details, such as how to set up the switch, why you chose to do certain things, etc.
I love it. I want to make one. Do you have the plans my friend.?

Hi Étienne, Could you please contact us from your etsy account and we will give you all the support that you need ! By the way we speak french if it's easier for you !
You know I expected it to be jank but it looks pretty well done
Thanks !
Very well built and with all the explanation. Really encouraging and inspiring. Thanks very much.
Muy interesante gracias por compartir saludos
Hey, could you explain how and why the arms are constructed like that? I understand that the outcome is a ram that has a variable depth so you can work on the metal as it changes size, but I don't understand the mechanical side of it. I barely have the money for the plans, let alone the whole build, but I want to make strides to something little that fits in the hardy hole on my anvil
Honestly it is a bit of a weird mechanic, but the idea is that you compress the spring in the midle so that the arms are in tension and makes the ram "float". As you give more speed to the rotating shaft, you give more energy to the ram going further down and compressing more the spring. When the ram goes up, the spring help the motion by launching the ram upward. The spring also give a whiping motion that increase the force put into the workpiece. If it's a bit more clear. By the way I'm pretty sure I saw someone on youtube tu exactly what you describe for your little power hammer. Good luck with your build !
Nice idea. Can you make it all out of thick aluminum plate so I can use it with water cooling? I'm looking to set up a battery operated portable bandsaw like this to dedicate for cutting aluminum. Without water cooling I'm finding that the aluminum work hardens as I cut, then the cut gets progressively worse. This video is a great idea, but could it have a drain tray, tank mount and water hose and all aluminum to not rust?
Of course everything is possible if you're a bit creative ! But I'm not sure that it's a work hardening/heat problem that you have. It sound like your blade gets clogged with aluminium chips as you cut. You should try cutting oil and a bigger TPI !
Minted hammer fella' Seems like I will have to get cracking on mine. ta ta.
How has your build held up? What would you redesign if you were to do it again? Thank you.
Honestly everything work pretty well for the moment, but I would surely use a bigger anvil. And I need to also make a guard to cover the moving parts!
Joli travail bien pensé et très bien réalisé. Bravo et Merci pour cette vidéo sympathique et utile.
Merci beaucoup !
Merci beaucoup !
Pretty extensive build...good job.
Great job
i think i can do this is my mom's garage.
I don't suppose you sell a kit that is completely done with all the welds?
No unfortunately we only sell the plans
This is awesome. I just need to build a shop and buy $10k in tools and learn how to weld. I will get there.
😅 eventually you'll get there
Expensive machines top quality and durable
Brother you worked very well . Plz you tell that what is the function of spring
It's to provide a snaping motion to the ram to hit harder.
im having problems with the uwhm plastic inserts - the anvil keeps pulling them out - any suggestions
You need a retainer over them that have a square hole 1/16 to 1/8 larger than your ram. This way they will not be pulled out.
i have the retainers and they are stil pulling out
I would say either try a tighter fit on the retainers or try thicker uhmw insert so that they can't be pulled out
im having problems with the uwhm plastic inserts - i cant keep them in - the anvil keeps pulling them out - any suggestions?
Not a restoration! Just a clean up and rub over with a paint brush?
A true metal craftsman. Uses electrical tape on his finger! 😊
Nice! About how much in material did this run you, or did you already have the stock laying around?
It was about 2000$ two years ago !
Great so much thanks
Por quanto você me faz uma máquina dessa? R$$$$$ 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Cela fait peur plutôt. Il y a des soudures qui me chagrine à la longue. À voir dans le temps et comment il sert.
lame, the cable has a non metal jacket.
Hmmm, I looked at your channel. Seems you haven't made anything.....lame
Think I can build one :!)(;!!!
Charging for plans that are not yours. Interesting.
