I just got a pair of the JG Shoelies and they are great. I've now got my eye on several pairs of JG boots.
@@shaunpugh3287 thats how it starts....
Thanks for your review! I love mine too. I use it to rehearse at home. Just the right amount of volume and punch I need to practice and not blow the doors off the house.
I broke them in less than a week. I'm not sure if people complaining about heritage break-in actually ever worn stiff boots, like hunting or mountain ones, or just compare them to clarks loafers, or probably sneakers? Sole is also much softer than v-700 vibram sole, that obviously inspired this one.
@@mezmerya5130 yes, when I think of my cowboy boots; that was a martyrdom; The first few times I wore the Numzaan at home - they were very hard. Worn to a funeral last week; filled with warm water beforehand and lo and behold they became very comfortable that day; appearances are deceiving
@derPaul76 that is fair remark. They are way softer when warm, and putting them on in the cold morning isn't that cozy of a feeling. But I just let my feet do the warm up over 5-10 minutes. I have never even thought about warm water.
Very fun video, you seem like you have a great personality. Thanks for the comparison
Is that the natural color? It looks a lot darker in video compared to the pictures on their websites
They are also my dog walking boots. They take a lot of abuse with dirt and my clumsiness hitting rocks, but still going strong!
I am shure they will serve well and Last long
Are they suitable for non-wide feet and waterproof?
yes, I would say that they are suitable for normal wide feet. However, they are not waterproof; I treated them with leather grease and it turned out quite well; When I walk the dog and walk through the wet grass in the morning it works quite well. They're just a little darker now. However, I would recommend a pair with smooth leather.
I have the same guitar. It's very good specs, very good looking one, but have some design issues. 1. It's heavy, maybe if the have pockets, semi-hollow, it would raise the price too but anyhow 2. the pickups have no bite/dinamics, I still have to measure the components, but in general the high end is missing and the middle-top is a lot, which makes it suitable for some, blues/ country/rockabilly music, but missign hifi. These 2 may be called preference, and it's alright. 3. The headstock and string break angles, cause tuning issues, specially for the G string, that is a real issue. In my case there was no rattle sound, but the G string is not cut deep enuogh, also if the overall tension is not high enough, maybe you use lighter strings or you tune down, it can cause issues. I haven't figured it out how to fix it. - one way is a string guide, but not the conventional one, which pull down to the headstock, it has to guide the string straight. I've bought a göldo one, and I wish to modify it. - another way is to recut, or fix the groove in the nut. In my case it's shallow, so I can fix that and cut it in an angle Anyhow, all just speculation, I'll have to try
The price is also accordingly; you get what you pay for and I suspect honest reviews are rather rare - or the others are luckier than us; For me it's ok if one component doesn't quite meet my expectations; but a minimum level of quality is also necessary for a modding platform; HB's basses are generally of better quality; But when it comes to guitars, I'll be choosing Squier and Ibanez in the future
@@derPaul76 Maybe I've also found the noise. Only with the D string tuner, which is a bit loose. My guitar is tuned down, so it seems that it's not the frequency, but the tuner itself is faulty. Anyhow. I was very happy with another HB, a DC DLX gotoh, that's why I was so brave to buy it. That guitar is fine. Tapping the neck of this I hear some noises, even if the loose tuner is dampened, which I can't hear from my Classic Vibe or from a mid-range ibanez.
@Bossa4Sol I bought a Squier Paranormal Telecaster for christmas; was able to test it extensively in the store; amazing guitar; I thought about buying an HP42 Signature for a long time - but that was too risky and time-consuming for me
Just came across your video, I'm not a boot kind of guy apart from my work boots I bought a pair of these boots and absolutely love them so much so I bought a second pair they are built like tanks and are super comfortable I absolutely love them outdoors ee has them in stock
@@peterconnor4193 and they will last for decades; But who is ee?
@derPaul76 outdoors ee it's a military surplus store in Estonia, that's were I got my boots I also got various austrian military jackets and pants ect , really nice condition stuff , lm not affiliated with them everywhere here in America the boots were sold out or didn't look in very good condition,
@@peterconnor4193there is a lot of stuff in good or nearly new condition available now; they changed the uniforms a few years ago; seems like they sell it now
Those are the boots I want. I want to build some Razorbacks with the houston brown I think. That last is my favorite. Also awesome on the AR8
One of the bests! African ranger boot🙌🏽
I've never had a brush do as good a job as my fingers but then you have to wash the stuff off your hands.
@@dbmail545 its faster but dirty;
Love your detailed review and sense of humor 😄 . New subscriber for sure🫡
Thanks; I am glad you enjoyed it!
such a cool idea!
That's what I thought too when I saw it - tried it - recommended it
The bronco brown pull-up leather from JG is some stiff stuff. I had to soak a pair of AR8's and wear them dry with thick wool socks twice to get them broken in.
@@dbmail545 thats why I will buy a pair of Numzaans Fudge leather
Hi Paul! I found your channel via your Jim Green reviews. While I do not have any Austrian military boots to clean haha, your lively personality makes your videos very entertaining to watch. You seem like a storied guy with a lot of knowledge to put into the world. So I hope you keep making videos on all kinds of topics, not just boots! Keep up the good work and hope to see you grow.
Thank you very much for the nice feedback; I'm very happy if it contributes to the entertainment! Yes, there are some ideas - but I only make videos out of them if they really provide added value; It's getting cold outside at the moment and that's slowing down my plans - especially the planned carpenters are working; Because I have to do this outside due to a lack of a workshop
PS I live in the Rocky Mountain west it's 9 months of winter here
When trying to describe it....the word you are looking for is Rich or Richness....and now I gotta buy a pair of Nuzmans...I just bought some Razorbacks
Don't feel bad. I took two years of German in school and all I can really say now is I'm tired and that I speak very little German.
thanks for the encouragement
Warum machst du das auf Englisch?

Really miss my 30 year old pair of jump boots from my days in the italian army, only thing I don't miss is threading the laces through all the eyelets (no speedhooks,), just preordered a pair of Jim Green Rugged Ranger that has two layers of thick leather (midsole and insole) so stiffer than AR8
@@paulsabucchi no speedhooks? Well thats sounds like a dayjob to get them on; Rugged Rangers - they will serve you well
Quality control? Or user error?
well, anything is possible; But how can you go wrong - when wearing shoes?
I've become a Jim Green fanboi. The African Rangers, the African Troopers, AR8's and the Razorbacks all on the zero-drop barefoot last. The zero-drop soles mitigate a lot of my issues with my much crash-damaged legs. Super value IMO.
@@dbmail545 looking forward for some barefoot - currently out of stock

Hello from Floridsdorf
I have been thinking about getting a moka pot like that and you just convinced me to go buy one. I am currently only drinking the terrible coffee from my universities cafeteria 😅
yes, I can highly recommend it; cost normal money and last forever; Boil the first 2 - 3 times and discard; otherwise you will get a taste of the rubber sealing; but there are also plenty of tutorial videos out there!
@@derPaul76 Thanks for the advice!
Maybe not such a fair comparison when the AR8's can be had from the JG custom shop with a selection of leather, lacing, last and soles. Waiting on my third pair of custom AR8's.
custom-made Jim Greens - I could come up with some crazy combinations!

These used to be cheaper than the razorbacks. Can’t believe how much prices have gone up.
Prices are generally going crazy - at least the quality is still good here
6:25 some Harry Potter magic will happen!!!
I just recieved my new AR-01 Fudge colored boots. I put them on after making coffee this morning. I think they fit. I hate buying shoes or boots online. I went to a work boot store nearby and had a accurate measure done. 11 1/2w. Ordered 11 1/2 on the chance they would run true to my length and hoped they were not too narrow. Well, they are going to take some breaking in, but I think I have a pair of winners. Just got to take extra shoes for a while if my feet cant handle it. I love the way they look. I cant wait to show them off.
@@martinnorbeck4657 yes, I don't like buying shoes online either; Buying guitars inline is also a lottery; With tools it's still possible; I'm currently breaking in my AR8; they are getting softer - although it feels like they are a little too big now; Let's see; maybe they are not yet soft enough to lace comfortably;
Just ordered a custom pair of ar8 in Buffalo leather. I love Jim Greens!
Me too! As soon as Gareth said that cape buffalo hide was available again I ordered a pair of custom AR8's.
how is the buffalo leather?
I'm getting a double lasted pair with leather mid. We'll see what that's about!

The JG custom shop is AWESOME ❤
The hardest part of owning a pair of Jim Green boots is deciding what pair to get next.
true words; I think I have some in reserve; I think the next ones are the Baobab - because the AR8 is a bit overkill for my purposes
Also, the hardest part about owning a pair of jim green boots is- not making a reel, a video or a tiktok about it! ( jokes apart, they actually R amazing and even i m guilty of wanting to tell everyone about it!) I cant look at my old nikes the same way.
Great suggestion 👍🏾 Think I will try it on my Thursday boots that sized down. Thanks for a great idea 💡
@@a.l.newsome7395 I am even happier if I could help

Once the Numzaan is oiled, it will soften. You just have to wear it. And be prepared for the pain.
And the oil soaks in like water in the dessert

@dbmail545 my bank account is not amused......
@derPaul76 what's more important? Numbers in a book or happy feet?
@@dbmail545 I can live with a depressed account 😉 next ones will be some barefoot Rangers and the Baobab
I live in Alberta Canada, we just got our first "cold snap & snow" of the winter. Not bad but enough to cause more than a few accidents lol I noticed that Jim Green has started to sell their own leather treatment. I'll have to read more about it and see what use purpose it is meant for. I enjoyed the video thank you again!!! Cheers beers and whiskey 🤠🥃
I've had winter tires on since last week; no snow in sight yet, but when it does, everyone will act like it's the first time and there will be a long line in front of the tire dealers - like every year
@@derPaul76 I run All terrain tires on my van year round here. They work decently in the snow, ice as long as I'm smart about things I'm good. Worst case I have chains for my tires, which I usually use twice a winter and a couple times in the summer. I live in the city but they don't usually snowplow our road which is a steep hill. Even studded winter tires will not make it up when we get a good dump of snow. So I use the chains to get in and out of the neighborhood. 🤷. In the summer I have a habit of driving where I shouldn't, to go and explore lol. The chains usually get me back out to the road again without having to call for a tow.
@@derPaul76 honestly the reason I run all terrain tires is more so cause I'm cheap and lazy. LoL. I don't want to buy extra tires and rims, store them somewhere then have to change each season. 🙈. Thankfully I live in one of the provinces in Canada I still have this choice 🤷
It took a few weeks to break in. I oiled them. I used mink oil. Neatsfoot oil will do the same thing. Most products have some combination of mink oil, neatsfoot oil, lanolin, silicone, etc. Once the oil is absorbed into the leather, oil and water don't mix. Water will not be able to soak into oiled leather. A top coat of wax polish helps water bead off the surface. Some people like to use a lighter to melt the shoe polish. Most brands will work.
@@chinatownboy7482 well, I wouldn't risk it with the lighter; use the heat gun or hair dryer;
@@derPaul76 Use the lighter on the shoe polish while it's in the container. Melt the polish, then spread it on the boot. Don't light the boot.
@@chinatownboy7482 ok; that makes perfect sense; learned something again - especially that sometimes I'm really not the smartest 🤣
Does the leather darken with all the oil, thank you
@cormac1000 the oil definitely; also the grease to make them water-repellent; but it looks good and brightens up again after a few days
I had to send my Numzaan boots back, they were not wide enough. Their Vellies are their best shoe IMHO
yes, they are actually a bit tighter; still OK for me; yes - the Vellies have been on my mind for a long time
Greetings from ireland, have u a very wide foot, thank u in advance
@@cormac1000 no; average; but the shape causes some problems
@derPaul76 thank u for reply
African Rangers and AR8's for me! Just ordered my 6th pair on the zero-drop/barefoot last. The JG custom shop is AWESOME!
what are your experiences with small bass combos and amplifiers?
A lot products out there. Many brands of balms, lotions, oils, waxes, polish, cream. Most claim to be better than the other brands. So far, I haven't found a bad brand. Even the less expensive products seem to work. And none have done anything bad. Sure, some people may think that one of shoe polish may be "shinier" than others. But they all work. No matter what product I apply, it's usually adding some combination of moisturizer, conditioner, or protection.
I think so too; That's why I'm very reserved with my recommendations; Many people have their own remedies with which they have had good experiences; However, I have never had a bad product; If it doesn't have the desired effect - just take another one; doesn't cost the world
@@derPaul76 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I buy whatever is on sale, or there's a coupon
