How to install valley flashing through a transition | metal roofing trim.
In this video we’re demonstrating how we install valley flashing that runs into a pitch change, turns and then runs on up around the dormer.

How to instal Metal Board and Batten siding.

This is the method we like to use for most applications when installing metal board and batten siding, this method can also be used for regular pole barn metal siding panels. Basic STANDING SEAM Metal Roof | How To install.

In this video we’re doing a basic standing seam metal roof, I hope y’all can learn something, and just be aware this might not be the exact type of trim and panels that you have access to in your area, but some of the basic principals could still apply. Also normally you would probably have an “A” Frame roof your working on, not a Lean-to like this one, in that case line up your Rake, (Gable, o...

No one going to calll out the screws in the vally 😂 who cares what Tex you use or what you screwed it to that bad boy needs a new roof do it once do it right!
Hey, I appreciate your video. I've done some snap lock standing seam metal siding and hadn't figured out a clean way to fasten things down around windows and at corners where the siding material changes and the metal ends in a J. I think I like your idea of installing the cleat inside the J so that I can slip my notched panel in there and have it stay put. Any reason why you chose to notch and bend the metal out instead of the cleat? It seems like it is more work, but I figure you probably have a reason.
So i need a $3000 edge roller
Looks good
The roof is wrong to begin with if the roofing screws are not placed on the hill of the Tin
This is almost exactly the way I figured how to do it, just couldn't find a practical way without leaving a hole for the transition.
Another idiot!!!
To bad he used his snipe the wrong way for them cuts 🤦♂️
I’m convinced only people that know how to actually do sheetmetal are the guys with the mid west snips or snap on
Clean work very nice
Everything about this is wrong. Where's the vapor barrier under those perlings? You need twice as many screws on that lower edge.
@@Sith_dude we put down a very strong, underlayment on the Perlins, it’s got a reflective side and a little bit of R value, Also you don’t need more screws in the bottom unless code requires it, like in hurricane zones. Or unless you prefer the look.
I look after 2 buildings that kick screws out constantly. Such a pain in the butt.
You made a hole in the plate to see the line underneith the plate? And Don't you have screws with a drilltip? King Ragnar YAHUWAH
From underneith. Moist penetrates the construction, and stops in the plate, cause it doesn't breath enough. And from above you get condens water from the plates at certain tempratures and some moist sweats thru. And it stops in the metal. Even a windsheet on the plywood would had helped. But it needs more air. Different plates or different buildup under that. King Ragnar YAHUWAH
Yeh. You might have a double up problem with moist. Both from underneith and from above. King Ragnar YAHUWAH
I think you got a different problem if you got that problem with screws. It must be moist under the metal so the plywood expands and schrink again. It then needs air. And cover over the plates. And check the screws. Aluminium for aluminium. Steel for steel. King Ragnar YAHUWAH
Summer screws. Summer leaking. Summer not.
There needs to be a redesign of this. Putting a screw into the face is just waiting for leaks (yes, even if done right). There needs to be a fastener that allows for expansion and contraction over time. Look at the standing seam hidden brackets…
What is cool is that the screws go through the 1x4 + the sheathing for a even better bond. Screwing properly in the flat is the way to go. My experience with screwing on the ribs is sheet movement which in turn will loosen screws over time.
❤🇵🇰❤
Amazing work 🇵🇰
Nice work 🇵🇰🇵🇰
Surface fastened metal is only suitable for barns, never on a home. Standing seam or some other hidden fastener type of metal/roofing. Why anyone would cheap out on the one thing protecting everything that they own is beyond my comprehension.
As only a fellow Michigander can do! Great job.
Plywood should hold, as each layer is rotated 90 degrees from the one surrounding it. OSB does not.
Using wood Perlins over plywood is problematic when people go to walk on the roof. Just use thicker plywood. (5/8)
If you know what you're doing when installing a metal roof you would know it's best to put them in the rib because it gives more room to expand and contrast without trying to expand and contrast with so much force from it being screwed all the way down in the flat. Which gives it very minimal room to do so that is why they back out in the flats part of the metal because you're smashing the washer and then once the washer dry rots it allows water to get down in and rust the screw hole. They have lifetime screws available now for ag metal panels there are way more expensive about 100% worth it.
Yikes
Great, i do believe though in double strapping for improved venting
what state are you in?
Totally wrong. First of all, use 5/8 material. Second use 5/16 screws and a quality underlayment. Third put the screws next to the rib in a 24 inch pattern, never in a raised area. This is all out of the book, most of you are doing it wrong when you don’t follow these rules.
@@paulr5246 first of all, please understand this was a roof repair, on probably a 10-20 year old roof. I was simply replacing the screws WITH 5/16” head screws with the bigger shanks. This is all the customer wanted. I had nothing to do with the material used or the original install. And that’s always what we do for screwing down a new roof. The way you described it. Thankyou.
We just bought our first house a need a new roof within a year or two and I’d kill for a metal roof. But we got a quote of 30k for regular shingles so I can only imagine what a metal one would be lol
@@Fullflex4X4 we don’t do shingles but I’ve heard the prices are actually quite comparable. Just get a few quotes from reputable roofers. If you can.
Buen trabajo amigo
How old is it?
Should have concealed brackets on each longitudinal seam holding the roof down, not with screws through the roof.
bullshit
Never seen this method of making sure things are square. Really smart! What part of the USA are you all located in? Do you work in north Georgia at all?
@@homeplaceadventures hi, Thankyou, We work in central and east Tennessee, we have done a few projects in Northern Georgia, but it’s a really far drive. And we don’t like going even 2 hours.
I'm looking at maybe doing metal board and batten on my new house. Stumbled on your video and I can tell you care about the quality of your work! Well done.
Being skilled with a shears is often overlooked talent
how's the manufacturer of the roofing product?, AKA Where can I purchase?, I'm in NJ
My roofer didn’t do this. Heavy sigh.
Beautiful work
I know the roofing manufacturers say to screw it on the flat but you do not get better results doing that you should screw it on the ribs and this is after going through many roofs with them screwed in the flat and screwed in the ribs the ones that screwed in the ribs almost hardly ever leak the One screwed in a flat within 10 years the rubber washers worn out and they're leaking
Good stuff
Great video! What was the purpose of installing the strapping over the sheathing?
@@winterfar2814 this is to give the screws solid wood to hold on to, and it also provides an air gap that allows it to breathe under the metal.
As someone who worked for Morton Buildings and did this everyday I can say you're just doing it wrong. There's thousands of Buildings across the US with decked roofs directly on the plywood. If you can't hit the purlin putting your roof screws in then you're terrible at your job.
@@TannerLee-p7k there are no Perkins on this particular roof. My point is just that screws will back out a lot quicker on roofs that are screws into plywood or OSB. Like this one. And I was simply doing a repair, replacing the old screws. Which is a proper maintenance step that needs to take place on a metal roof every 8-10 years anyway. Replace the screws.
What about when there is no hem, just flat edges?
@@jepito29 Overlap it about 6”

Killer video man!
who makes that siding ?
@@MeganGalasel Graber Post buildings out of Indiana I think is the company where this particular siding comes from, I know there are others that make it too.
You're a legend! Nice work. I like the rough finish in the paint. You ever notice any difference the way the snow slides?
