I made it to 41.5 hours of fasting, but I don't feel well. I'll need to recover before I try it again.
Going forward, I will be focusing on building muscle and getting in TPC, top physical condition, and will try to balance the build and cut phases.

LA Wildfires How they Should be Managing Water instead of Dumping it into the Ocean
Просмотров 654 часа назад
California could be hiring people from MN DNR to help with their water management instead of dumping their precious water into the ocean - creating a manmade drought from the cumulative effect over the 100 years of rainwater dumping into ocean. Instead of trying to steal MN water, CA should be managing their own rainwater better. Here are some things that Minnesota does that CA could implement....

It's important to first stop putting the rainwater in the ocean, and preserve that so that the air has moisture and can create rain as well as a less fire-prone environment. That water comes from Lake Mead whose water levels are down significantly to what they have been historically. Lots of videos on this subject, just connect the clues. Nice little pond you have there.

    Well the fact is that women are now more educated and many enjoy higher incomes than their partners. So things have to change. Very early in the relationship she must communicate to him clearly her expectations and the consequences if those expectations are not met. Its only fair that the one who makes more money should have less work at home. Therefore he must adjust and take on new responsibilities at home for the relationship to work out. This must be normalized and old stigma removed.

      Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. It's essential that we balance work both inside and outside the home between partners. This way, we not only foster stronger relationships but also create a more supportive and fulfilling environment for everyone. By sharing responsibilities and working together, we can ensure that both partners have the opportunity to contribute equally, leading to happier families and a brighter future for the next generations. It's all about building a partnership based on mutual respect and cooperation.

    Hey, well done. Congratulations on fasting for 41.5 hours. You're motivating me to start incorporating weight lifting back into my routine. I had 10 extra pounds of muscle when I was weight lifting 3 times a week. I used to kind of combine weight lifting and circuit training. By that I mean instead of taking short breaks between reps of each exercise, I would work the opposite muscle group instead of taking the break. Example ... instead of 10 bicep curls, 1 minute break, 10 bicep curls, 1 minute break, 10 bicep curls, 1 minute break, then move on to the next muscle group ... I would do 10 bicep curls, 10 tricep curls, 10 bicep curls, 10 tricep curls, 10 bicep curls, 10 tricep curls, with zero breaks between. I remember working out this way in the gym of the university where I worked, and having kinesiology students being fascinated and asking me what the hell I was doing. That technique worked really well for me. It enabled me to get a greater workout in a shorter amount of time, plus I was able to lift slightly heavier weights after working the opposite muscle group. I won't need to do weight lifting during the winter months though. With the higher temperatures of the climate catastrophe, the water in the Great Lakes is so warm that they aren't freezing over. This is going to mean way more snow and way more shovelling, which is an intense workout. There is going to be more snow each winter and the amounts will continue increasing year after year until humans have heated up the atmosphere so high that it's too hot for snow to form during winters. At that point I guess I'll have to start weight lifting in the winter. But for now, it would be too much to weight lift AND shovel snow.

    • @DailyFastDiaries
      @DailyFastDiaries 12 часов назад

      That's awesome! I used to do sets, too. I first started lifting weights in high school and learned a lot about reps from books and other resources. Eventually, I found it easier and better to use a timer and focus on time instead. This way, I don't rush through the reps and can take it slow, working to my maximum. When we do sets of 10 and so forth, we often waste a lot of time between reps, whether starting a different exercise or taking a break. I've always been very busy, putting myself through school, working, and raising my kids, so efficiency became crucial. Even now, with my kids grown up and out of the house, I find it much more efficient to do an entire minute without breaks. In one minute, I can get between 30-60 reps done, and in two minutes, 60-120 reps. It's very efficient. I'm glad you found what works for you, too! I think it's important to keep trying different things to find what works best for ourselves. I use dumbbells that are about 14 pounds each for most exercises, and for some of the more difficult exercises, I use 5-pound weights. I do agree, shoveling snow is a great workout! so great, in fact, that it can cause heart attacks. Be careful out there, and take breaks as needed, especially when the weather is warmer and the snow is heavier. 😀

    I just watched a video by my favourite climate systems scientist (and educator). Paul Beckwith is a climate scientist who teaches at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. He studies climate systems. Professor Beckwith has a fantastic YTube channel. You should check out his channel. He explains what every peer reviewed climate or environmental research paper or article is actually saying. Unfortunately, in today's video, Paul was talking about how fossil fuel burning humans have now just pushed the planet's temperature increase to 1.6 degrees of heating. Twenty years ago scientists were saying that we had to avoid going over 1.5 degrees of heating, because anything above that would lead to widespread devastation. I'm trying to stay calm, but I'm pretty pissed. This morning I manually shovelled my long, double driveway of snow (for the 10th time in a week). I think there is one other person on my street who shovelled today. Every other home owner had their fossil fuel burning snow blowers out, creating a loud racket, generating larger amounts of CO2 than autos, plus emitting more toxic exhaust fumes than autos.

      Thanks for the info. I appreciate hearing from you. Are you saying that the fact that California is dumping rainwater into the ocean is contributing to climate change? If so, I would agree - it's a proven fact that the fires themselves are generating a lot of heat into the atmosphere and if California had better managed their rainwater, and kept it instead of dumping it into the ocean, then they could have prevented these fires. I'm not sure if that is what you were getting to, if I've interpreted your comment incorrectly, please let me know.

    • @environmentalcanadian2338
      @environmentalcanadian2338 11 часов назад

      @@DailyFastDiaries Yes. California dumping rainwater into the ocean is definitely making the climate catastrophe even worse. Our over-heated atmosphere is now drying our land even further, and to lower depths, than ever before. California should be taking the exact opposite actions. They should be trying to shore up ways to keep as much rainwater out of the ocean and on the land. We need to have more moisture in the soil, and more water on top of the land in the form of ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers.

    Hey DFD. Excellent video and a great message. It's good that your state has so many lakes and ponds. Your video could have been filmed in my province of Ontario. Looks very similar this time of year. Were you aware that Canada has more fresh water lakes than the rest of the world combined? It's because of our national animal, the beaver. It's protected and it thrives in Canada. California should import some of our beavers. The beavers would eventually repair and rejuvenate California's landscape, its water ways, ponds, and lakes. Australian farmers are using Canadian beavers to restore land that has become recently turned to desert, back into productive land capable of growing crops. Does your state have much of a beaver population?

    • @environmentalcanadian2338

      I'm an idiot. Beavers are all over the USA, and I think I knew this as a kid. There are about 15 million beavers in Canada, and another 15 million beavers in the USA. But when I looked at a map of beaver populations in the USA, there aren't any in south Florida or south California. So it looks like LA is most likely too hot for beavers to survive.

These efforts have faced significant legal and environmental challenges. So far, they've been unsuccessful, which is why I say "trying" rather than saying they are doing it now. Regarding your comment, I understand how it might come across, but that wasn't my intention at all. Patronizing means to think less of others, and what I’m actually saying is the exact opposite. During periods of heavy rainfall, California channels over 6,600 acre-feet (approximately 2 billion gallons) of water into the ocean daily. This is not through the rivers. It is through the manmade infrastructure in California. Historical Context and Major Projects - Los Angeles River Channelization (1930s-1950s): Aimed at preventing urban flooding by diverting rainwater to the ocean. Instead of sending it to the ocean, they should have other means and areas of containment. They've had almost 100 years to correct this, since this project began over 100 years ago. Planning started around 1905, and construction began nearer to 1930. - Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta: Managed flood risks by flushing rainwater out to sea, maintaining water levels and preventing flooding. Again, instead of sending it to the ocean, they should be diverting it somewhere inland - Coastal Flood Control Channels: Designed to protect coastal communities from natural flooding by diverting rainwater to the ocean. Perhaps coastal communities shouldn't have been built in flood zones in the first place.

    Hey my fasting friend. I'm back from visiting family and friends over the holidays. I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and you got to spend some quality time with your two sons. Since I was last on your channel, you've put up a bunch of videos that I want to get to. I found this video enlightening. I was not aware of all the water diversion that California has done. I completely agree with you that this was the wrong approach. But, as an environmental scientist, I do have to push back on your climate change comment. The California fires have definitely been partially caused by the climate catastrophe, and are most definitely made much worse by climate change. First world people have increased the temperature of the atmosphere by 1.5 degrees over the last few decades. For each degree increase in temperature, the atmosphere MUST hold and will hold 7% more moisture on average. That's just the laws of physics. That means more rain and a higher probability of flooding. Another major problem with climate change is the duration of weather systems. Because we've destroyed the stability of the jet stream, any spot on the planet now has the possibility of receiving months or a year's worth of precipitation in a day or two, or almost no precipitation for long periods of time (like in California) causing the land to become a tinderbox. I have some great new information for you regarding fasting. My ex-wife's sister invited me over to her home for Christmas dinner on boxing day. I didn't eat anything, because of fasting. I've always gotten along well with my in-laws and it was great seeing everyone again and visiting. But I had the most amazing talk with my ex sister in-law's husband. He convinced me that I had to try not just fasting 20-22 hours daily, but to also fast for days at a time. He said that when humans go days without eating (which is how we evolved) they don't burn muscle or get slow and dumb. He said that what happens is that their HGH (Human Growth Hormone level) goes way up to preserve muscle, and they get sharper!! So that they can kill the next mastodon that they see. He gave me great advice by telling me that during longer term fasting, I will require only a few brief spurts of will power to avoid giving in and eating. Well, the first time I tried it, it was amazing. I went almost 3 days without consuming anything other than water and a daily coffee. It got much easier after 48 hours. I could have gone a week without eating. I felt better than I ever remember feeling. My mind was incredibly clear and sharp. It was kind of like how I feel sharp after consuming caffeine, but with zero other side effects, and lasting for days not hours. I will fast for days at a time for the rest of my life. If you haven't tried longer term fasting already, I encourage you to give it a try. Have a great day, Cal.

      Hey Cal, thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. I appreciate the feedback on climate change. While I understand and don't argue that there might be some correlation, my point is that before we blame other people for our problems, we should look at what we are doing. California is quick to blame climate change without looking at their own behaviors that are also creating these dry conditions. Just like California is diverting vast amounts of rainwater into the ocean instead of utilizing it positively, here in Minnesota, we have different management methods, and I'll delve into that more in future videos. I agree with you on the benefits of longer fasting. Personally, I've faced some challenges with it, and I suspect others do too. So I'm trying to use myself as a guinea pig to figure it out. Thanks for sharing your experience and insights-it's truly inspiring! Have a great day!

Sometimes, people might misunderstand or misinterpret the message because of the format. That's why I create longer videos as well, to provide more thorough explanations and ensure the information is clear and accurate. I know these longer videos might reach a smaller audience, but I believe it's important to get the message across correctly. Thanks again for your support!

    My wife and I have been in an FLR for over a year now and it's worked wonderfully for us. The most important aspect is communication. My wife has the lead voice in this. She feels more impowered to take control or to tell me to be quiet when it's necessary. I am responsible for all home chores, such as keeping the house clean, laundry, beds made and sheets changed. I am older than my wife by 20 years and retired from my full time position and moved to a part time consultant role. This allows me to take a more active role in the housekeeping and being more service oriented to her needs. She is a full time Spec Ed Teacher. We also practice orgasm control and Chasity where she decides when and how I have an orgasm and available to service her sexual needs anytime she desires. Again this is not for everyone but it's working for us. I have never felt more in love with my wife.

      It's great that people find unique ways to express themselves and build relationships. The most important thing is that communication is open and honest, ensuring that both parties feel respected and valued, never humiliated. That being said, it's not really a topic I'm comfortable diving into. I believe mutual respect and ensuring everyone's comfort and happiness are key.

    Hi, what is your view on men being househusbands and full time dads? Women are beating us out in college degrees like JD, Master's and PhDs even MD's. This shifts the power dynamic in favor of women in relationships. I do not have an IQ high enough to earn a advanced or professional degree and I would like to be a stay at home dad/househusband to a career woman. I know one couple who have several children and he did all the domestic tasks and childcare. I work for and report to women at work. Women make better leaders in the corporate world too. The patriarchy is ending and we might be moving into a matriarchy.

      It's great that you're thinking about your future and what role you want to play. If you want to be a househusband, it's important to have an open and honest conversation with your potential partner. Keep in mind that staying at home can involve sacrifices, like career and income potential, so it's something to consider carefully. Even if you don't have a high IQ, you might find opportunities in fields that suit your strengths. Sometimes, when men say they want to stay at home, it can be misinterpreted as not wanting to work. To be taken seriously, you'd need to be good at housekeeping, cooking, and cleaning. The key is balancing the number of hours worked, so both partners feel they're contributing equally-whether it's in the office or at home.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. I completely agree that we can't always assume good intentions, even from family. Sometimes, our family members respond to us in ways that are influenced by subconscious feelings. For instance, if good things happen to you but not to them, they might take it as a personal attack, even if unintentionally. We need to recognize that their reactions aren't always coming from a conscious place. The best we can do is to be kind and stand up for ourselves in a positive way. It's important to set realistic expectations and understand that these old patterns may not change. We can still spend holidays and family events together, but it's okay to limit the time we spend with people who aren't supportive, even if they're family. It's all about finding a balance that protects our well-being.

You appear to me to have a healthy weight, yet to be striving for "just a few more pounds" off when in reality you don't need it. My concern comes when you talk about your body's physical reaction to the fasting. It's telling you what you are providing it is not enough. Specifically when it comes to your heart's rythm. Food is not a pleasure of life, it is a necessity. Hunger is your body's way of telling you that it's not getting what it needs. Now, don't get me wrong, I believe that intermittent fasting can be good. The key word there is "intermittent". What really made me comment is when you talk about the affect that fasting has on your heart. If your eating patterns leave you light-headed and un-fulfilled, then you should listen to your body. It appears to me that you are striving for something you have already accomplished. You look well, and healthy, and amazing. You are beautiful and with where you are, a few pounds either way isn't going to change that. But that is just my opinion. You have to live with you, and accept yourself. @@spacenerd757 more freindly Thank you so much for your thoughtful concern! I genuinely appreciate your perspective and would love to clarify a few things. I regularly visit my doctor and make my health decisions in consultation with them. Managing my weight while the amount I want to lose is still small helps me stay proactive, rather than waiting until there's a lot to lose and it's a lot more work. I've had SVT symptoms for as long as I can remember, and it isn't related to fasting. It's a physical difference that I've consulted a cardiologist about. As long as I'm healthy, I believe it's up to each of us to determine our own body weight goals based on what feels right for us. I understand you might not agree with my goals, but it's all about what makes me feel healthy, comfortable and confident. Thank you again for your comments and support. This was me for many years. I couldn't conceive of the terrible things that some people would do. I am from another country and culture, very different, and I was constantly being blindsided and taken advantage of when I moved to the USA, for a long time. But no longer will I allow it. It's so un-natural for me to behave in a way as to fend off these types of abusive people. It requires constant awareness and deliberate actions on my part in order to protect myself. And it makes me sad, because we live in a society in which if we don't want to be taken advantage of and hurt, we have to be constantly on the alert and put up very strong boundaries. Where I am from, most people are kind and helpful, you don't have to be on the alert. You are more relaxed and in the moment. We have one of the lowest crime rates in the world, so that is a reflection of the people's behaviors towards each other.

    I appreciate that you say all people are toxic, that's my experience as well and I don't think we're supposed to say it out loud, so I respect your honesty😊. The conclucion I've arrived at however, is that I choose to be alone rather than to spend my energy working hard on setting boundaries for people that doesn't know how to treat others with basic kindness. I think we're indoctrinated to believe that being alone is a terrible thing and that it means you're a worthless failure- hardly anything in society is judged as harshly as being alone. After I stopped caring that people judge me for it, I realized that being alone is actually wonderful, the reason being that dealing with the toxicity of people is no longer consuming my life. I can spend my time focusing on other things; it's extremely liberating. I get what you're saying and I respect it, but for me- if people can't treat me with basic kindness and respect, I'm walking away. It's too energy draining and time consuming, and I want to fill my life with other things. I don't think I'm being "too sensitive". I think we live in a system that is based on competition, on performing and winning to prove one's worth, we're conditioned to compete to be better than others. The whole system is toxic, so people become toxic. I'm about the same age as you and I don't think things were better before, I think people are just becoming more aware of it now, and in my opinion that's a good thing.

      Thank you for sharing your perspective; I really appreciate your honesty 😊. When I say everyone is toxic, what I mean is that all of us, including you, me, and everyone else, have both good and bad parts. It's important to stay humble and recognize that we all have our own weaknesses. Sometimes, we don't realize how our words and actions affect others, and we can unintentionally hurt people without even knowing it. My focus is on bringing out the best in others and accepting people lovingly with all their flaws. Establishing boundaries doesn't mean we have to be alone. We can have gentle boundaries that allow us to adjust our time and energy based on the kindness people show us. I respect your decision and understand that it's about finding what works best for you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'd like to clarify that when I talk about Female-Led Relationships (FLRs), I'm not referring to relationships where anyone's needs are ignored or disrespected. Instead, I envision FLRs as a way to create an environment where women have a voice and are equally respected. The goal is to foster an egalitarian partnership where both partners' contributions and voices are valued. This isn't about dominance or submissiveness, but about balancing traditional gender dynamics to ensure mutual respect and collaboration. While some might associate FLRs with specific stereotypes, it's really about giving women a platform to express themselves fully and equally within their relationship. Moreover, open communication, respect, and understanding are key components of any healthy relationship, including FLRs. It's about finding what works best for both partners and creating a supportive and empowering dynamic. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to clarify this!
