What is Sounds & Sights? An Introduction.
Well I subscribed because the premise seems right up my alley. Looking forward to checking out your channel when I have some down time
@@The_paradox_of_Youth i’n so glad to hear it - hope to see you there!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼 let me know if you have any questions or if you have anything in particular you want me to cover
I feel like this is essay writing. For song writing, for me songs are a three dimensional vector quantity including: 1. Melody 🎶 2. Lyrics 🎤 3. Beats 🎧 The most important of which is melody. The melody comes to my head like a God-given gift and then I chose my words (lyrics) around it and finally the rough beats which will be perfected by the producer❕
Do you still need a low cut EQ when mixing ?
My mixes already sound consistent... Consistently shitty! 😂
My mixes? Wtf are you talking about?
🤣 this video is for music producers because one of the hardest parts of the process is getting everything to sound good together in the context of a song in a process called “mixing”! So this was hopefully a helpful tip…but if you’re not a music producer I can see how this would be confusing 🤣 if you ever wanted to start producing though let me know I’ll give you some places to start!!
Mate… GAME CHANGER, I did check this vid months ago when I got my 1073 spx, but for some reason I thought your low was on 220, and Ive always done it that way, now that I noticed you set it in 35 and boosting it instead of cutting, WOW, soooo crystal clear and natural 🤧🤧🤧 I also set my mids in 700 and cut them out, if I only paid attention at that time and not rush things out 😮💨😮💨😮💨
wow, you seriously didn't let us hear it
Use high quality this use high quality that. You're just saying "get good" no actual advice.
@@skrat1001 this video (and my channel in general) isn’t necessarily for beginners, so if that’s you, there’s a lot of info here and you might feel lost, but at no point did I say what you’re saying. Each step has tangible things: step 1: high quality chords? “Space your notes out more” step 2: high quality sample pack? You just buy these. No skill required. And the rest are suggestions for which instruments to layer with the piano to make it sound good and why. There are a ton of really good “how to music production” channels on here, if you’re actually considering music production I’d recommend hitting those up first vs. leaving comments like this - next time just be like “I didn’t understand this one” and I would have just explained more 🤷
Don’t care
That’s ok, I care though 🤓 a lot actually. I’ll just carry the load of caring for the both of us
Is this amp the same as a 1073 spx?
Thanks for the insight! P.s. you’re handsome 🙂↔️
I was listening to KoRn's " Blind " in the shower and I did like the opposite headbang. The one where you shake your head left and right really really hard like ur saying no and man my neck has been hurting for like 4 days now. Take this man seriously guys. Necks are fragile.
Wow! That sounds amazing... I'll be checking this soon!!!
I have a question and this is the trim knob where’s the safest level to have it at i see most have there trim straining should it be turned all the way up max or no ?
How the fuk 34 +4 db gonna make any difference if you already low cut all the way to 160
That exactly what I was thinking. Doesn't make any sense
Hi great info! I purchased the BAE 1073 Rack-mount Microphone Preamp & EQ. Question: My vocal rm/ both is not professionally treated. I do have studio foam / baffles etc... to deaden the room. my male lead vocal chain is u87 going into the bae 1073 since my room is not professionally treated. Is it ok to use the 1073eq before recording instead of bypassing the 1073 eq and recording my vocals flat. The vocals sound so much better eq-ed before. Thanks...
THis was awesome! Thank you ! <3 Beautiful Eyes! <3

Damn that's a really neat idea dude
I’ve tried it a bunch of times now after watching the original video from AU5 and it’s definitely come up with some awesome results! I want to try it with melodic stuff next like vocals could be like vocal chopping but even more random to create some cool melodies from samples in your song’s key…tons of fun ideas to be had here 😊
i love the slipknot headbanging
I'm surprised how much this technique reminds me of my therapy.
@@benjaminwlang writing is very much like therapy! :) it’s not a replacement for someone who knows what they’re doing, but it’s the practice of asking questions and expanding on concepts, which if you apply that to yourself and your own situations, can be really healthy and helpful. Journaling is also a great way to do this 🙂
If you have a full mix for comparison and reference should you lower the referenced mix about minus five or six decibels because it's master and compressed?
@@StarOasis26 that’s a great question! If you’re lowering the volume of the references, it becomes a bit of a guessing game how much you actually lower the volume…Also, now you’re essentially changing the reference volume based on your demo, versus using the reference to make changes to your demo! So what I personally do, and what I would recommend, is turn your own mix up to match your reference 🙂 put a limiter so you’re not clipping. This will help you compare apples to apples in terms of loudness and then you can adjust as needed! 🤘🏽 hope this helps! - nick
@@sounds-sights ok good to know, a limiter. Thanks !
Svdden death is sweating bullets rn
Why
Why not? 🙂
Can you get the same effect with Pro Q 3 in dynamic mode?
Yes, for the most part! The only thing you’d be missing is the attack and release settings, and it’s easier to “solo” the bands with the multiband version, but you can totally do most of it with pro-q 🤘🏽
@@sounds-sights keep doing what you're doing. You're dropping some good gems. Maybe we can collaborate on some music one day too
Pikle
This is too true 😂
This is epic
When I wash dishes I headbang insanely aggressively. My little sister says she can hear my neck cracking every time I bob it down. Meshuggah and TOOL got me too good. I’ll need to tone it down a bit I guess 😢
You gotta let us listen to both versions to compare
@@DeltaZones10 RUclips shorts only lets me post 60 seconds 😭😭 the original video is 3 minutes where I show both, I’ll add a follow up and tag you :)
I thought it is fl studio 😭😭
What is the software 😩
ableton
Simple? I have nothing on
Awesome I have the UAD2 plugin for the unison slot in console. I'm gonna try those out right now with my Mojave Tube Condenser MA-300 . That Neumann sounds tremendous with those settings. Thanks brother. Subbed and Like
Any update on the sound? I was also thinking of trying it out on my UAD Apollo
This is just so good. Thank you for the video!
Wtf, that high end roll-off 😂
Great video, new subscriber. Working with the subconscious without cancelling it is so powerful. Bravo!
❤
U didnt even show how u automate that
hey there! which part did you mean? so the multiband compressor does most of the work, the only things that you would need to adjust are the threshold mostly (when does the compressor kick in) and the attack / release settings (how quickly it starts reducing volume once it hears something that goes above the threshold, and how quickly it returns the volume to baseline after the volume is below the threshold) I just set to quickest attack, and quickest release for this - other than those knobs, no automation needed! let me know if this helps!
These tips were helpful, appreciate the specific settings shown. One bit of unsolicited feedback though, if I may - would definitely recommend showing a singing sample of the final vocal vs just telling us your speaking vocal is the end product. I dont think this gritty low-heavy podcast sound (as is) is something that many people hear in commercial music, so it kinda turned me off from trying to listen and get this sound in my music
Agreed. He also stated that these are starting points.
Or use DERES. Done.
there are definitely problems that dynamic resonance plugins like deres or soothe are really good at solving, like when there's a specific resonant frequency or two that are making the vocal sound harsh or otherwise unbalanced. but in my experience if the vocal is generally well recorded, but the problem is there's just too much difference between the bright parts and the rest of the vocal (too much dynamic range), solving that with deres is a bit indirect vs. broad treatment with a mulitband compressor, or even just a normal compressor. it'll probably work, but it might sound less "natural" since all of those other frequencies are what makes a persons' voice sound like their voice, and it's way easier to screw that up with a tool that's designed to mess with those relationships at a really fine grained level. hope this helps!
I don’t like the way your vocal mix sounds in this short, so I’m probably not gonna take your advice
Thats not really the best way to create your own unique melodies. Its just borrowing heavily from other artists. Hack
now wait just one goddamn minute! are you... telling me... if I copy a melody for the purpose of practicing writing lyrics... it won't result in a unique melody?!?!? are you sure???? wow crazy. this is clearly meant for brainstorming and writing lyrics, not coming up with melodies.
If the goal of the exercise was to create unique melodies, then you’d be right! But the goal is to create unique lyrics from nothing, something that a lot of songwriters struggle with. After that’s taken care of, you can play around with the melody a bit more and see what suits the lyrics of the new song and the mood best 🤓
Your singing is so good
Thank you very much I appreciate your kind words! Lots of practice 🤓
Thank you this is so helpful ❤😊
Looking forward to more content :D
Great reminder!!!! ❤😊 thank you
Thanks to Slipknot to teach me well how to headbang
you talk like that jordan guy
Hahaha, I do aim to be a calming presence when it comes to music because it can be stressful sometimes when you really care about your art and things are new and unfamiliar or don’t go the way you expect! Just here to help :)
Or.... They will create a mix that is TRENDY, make everything mega loud and completely destroy your vision and originality.
I think mix engineers are also artists, and as such each have a "style”. So that’s where it’s a bit on the artist to do their research. Check out the mix engineer person’s previously mixed songs. And I’m not saying a mix engineer that usually specializes in tearout dubstep can’t mix a jazz track…but…..🤣
But def in that case some constructive feedback would be required 🔨
