Reflections on Growing up
This video is a reflection on my journey of growing up and moving out of my childhood home. I share some of the challenges I faced along the way, from feeling lost and stuck to finding a sense of direction and purpose. It’s a story about letting go of the past, stepping into adulthood, and everything that comes with it.

Why I Dropped out of University... (rant) In 2021, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life up until that point. I decided to defy generations of my family, and everyone around me and dropped out of university. After completing 2 semesters of Computer Engineering, I became completely disillusioned with the education system, and chose to drop out and pursue my own path in life. However non...

You can tell me all you want about how video games are a drug and nothing else, world, but every time you tell me through others that my greatest passion is a meaningless, maladaptive addiction, I can only keep telling you that I really do love what I do. I’ll be a gamer at heart until the day I die.

ALOT of relatable things here I feel. Feeling like I got nowhere with games, didn't learn much and wasn't really creating anything. I'm curious about your opinion and about moderation. I only play games occasionally. But its not my main hobby anymore. I do not want to be a gamer. I think possibly playing with friends in person is fun for occasional activity, but to be honest. Drawing with them or more physical activities (of course like soccer, walking, board game, creating stuff) seem more... Fun. Now I haven't completely QUIT videogames. I am distancing myself from them. Its becoming to be about 1-2 hours a day now. Games both had pros and cons for me. Cons were, health, hygiene, social interactions. By playing more it would just increase those cons. It made me feel worse in some ways because I was not being reasonable. I was not having any moderation with games. Within a few months this year I've realized how much it has affected me, so I slowly stopped. And lost interest... More other hobbies started to grow. Some pros for me were, story, ideas, creativity. When playing games in the past, one horror game has given me new creativity for a underwater world... Sure these games can give cool ideas. But even then with these pros, I still back off from gaming in general. I'm going to keep it maximum an hour and a half a day. Honestly I don't think story driven videogames should become a main source of ideas for me. Now that I have more moderation. I can do art, writing, playing a game and learn its story. And go outside. I'm still new to moderation so its still hard to just, stand up and walk away after 1 hour and 30 minutes and to not continue playing. I'm curious, does this still work out?

Managed to quit for about 9 months but then I fell back. I was naive enough to think that it would be different, and in some ways it was, but it still left me with a hollow feeling and a lot of frustration. I’m now determined to quit for good and focus on other things in life. I’ve managed to discovered new hobbies during my first quit attempt and they felt SO meaningful and fun in comparison. They did not give the same sensation of a dopamine high, but they made me feel very saitisfied and at peace. I never ever felt conflicted about doing those activities when I thought about them afterwards, but I always did that with gaming. Anyways, good luck to you and anyone else attempting this. It’s not going to be easy but it’s so worth it when you finally get your mind in the right place and start to enjoy the things that you’ve been avoiding for so long.

Ah man... i agree with everything you said. Im 16 years old and since i was 8 i was addicted to playing video games. At some point around 1 year ago i relized that this has no point, none of it had any meaning at all. So i desperately tried again and again but all i could reach was a week without video games.. one time my PC even broke and i didnt play for a month, but the second that it was repaired i hopped back on it. Having said this, after almost 1 year of fighting with my self, 1 year of fixing my real life problems and 1 year of building good habits in my life, I can proudly say that i finally officially quit video games. I havent touched my PC in 3 months by now and i never intend on going back ever again. To whoever is reading this: Please never give up hope in yourself. I believe in you ❤️‍🩹

I think complete abstinance is not worth it as a single player. I casually play some of the big single or coop titles, like Baldur's Gate or Cyberpunk. I am there for the story, just like you would be for a book or a movie. You do not have to grind it hours. It is an experience. Moderation is key.

Before you ask, no I do not think actually playing games is a good way to use your time unless your a pro gamer/streamer/etc. It takes your creativity and mental energy and deposits it in a world where the results you get don't count.

Final year here literally at the end… I sometimes or more often had this feeling. The problem is that I feel I’ve kept going till all of this I was going forward is suffer. I’ve been really good with assignments but I feel the always not happy going forward. I know university isn’t for everyone and we all have some kind of path. Kudos to you man your wise words on video tells me a similar mindset like myself.

First of all, this is an awesome video, and I really appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing a valuable message. This just more of a friendly debate/disagreement with one of your points. We are absolutely what we repeatedly do. Actions are the only tangible way to measure who someone is. Also, actions create a feedback loop around us because people perceive us as the things we do, which in turn leads them to treat us in a way that is congruent with their perception of us. How they treat us informs us of the world's perception of us, which is then folded into our perception of us to varying degrees. I think the difference with video games is that you're not actually doing any of the things you feel like you're doing.
