These kits are amazing and beat anything made with 3D plastic printers hands down. The detail and realism are first class. I model in N scale and these kits look like real buildings. Plastic buildings look like toys.

You mention covering with textured stone card stock. How does one accurately measure and cut that covering? Are there any photos of this kit covered with textured stone?

I would love to see an updated video of this. Also some info on how the die cutters are made. It looks as though they are made per set and not from a configurable system of dies?

I just bought my very first kit at a Model Railway show here in Dublin, just before Christmas. I am considering building my first model railway set up with my grandson after nearly fifty years since my last one. So I decided to try out one of your kits, the OO Corner Shop, to see if I could make a good go of it. To say it went well would be an understatement, and this is not to blow my own trumpet, far from it. I have built quite a few Airfix kits over the years and would always pay great attention to details BUT I was blown away with the quality of the card finish, the laser cutting finishing, and the precise and at light-hearted instructions. I have since completed another four kits, each manufactured by you to the high standard of my first purchase. If I never build another one I will be very happy with just having had the pleasure of building these few. Continued success with your endeavours, you've set the standard high for all other kit suppliers.

Just watched the N gauge, now this is better, larger parts to assemble. Great idea with the jigs. The problem I now have is where can I place this on my layout?

A really nice model, great idea for the jigs. BUT has just confirmed why I don't model in N gauge, I have sausage fingers🤣

I'm curious as to the advantage of removing all the components beforehand and creating a "builder's yard" - I'm not disputing the idea, just seems to my inexperienced brain that this would cause more problems than it would solve. Can anyone advise?

My only complaint N scale cost as much as the OO scale. Only quarter the size.

I have just started with using Metcalfe models - spent a small fortune, but we'll worth it, with purchasing a large number from a model shop that was closing down. I find assembling these model very theraputic and satisfying, and testing my modelling skills, at the same time - thank you Mr Metcalfe, for developing and creating these wonderful works!

Absolutely beautiful and easy to build quality kits. Watch their video how to content especially the water colour edging a must for the perfect finish. Don’t use felt tip pens too dark and unforgiving if you make mistake it will not wash off but water colours do. I’ve just started populating my Layout with Metcalfe kits and taken off my downloaded kits simply because the time you have paid for the ink and different card not mention windows it’s simply not cost effective. Buy with confidence from theses people you will not regret it and for the record I’m not sponsored by them either the product sells all on its own.

Hi. I'm afraid I don't understand the philosophy of removing all the components and putting them all in a pile. I would have said that it's more 'tidy' to remove each piece as it is needed. Can you please explain?

I just want to say your deserve every bit of the success that you have enjoyed over the years. At Sixty Four years of age I have been a modeler making Airfix Kits and Model Railways and the like for over Fifty years. In recent years have come across your very own Metcalfe Kits and have so thoroughly enjoyed building them for both myself and others. Most kits I have built many times over. They are without doubt the most wonderful and most detailed and realistic card kits I have ever come across and I just want you to know how much pleasure they have given me over the years. .. Thank you Metcalfe.

I have bought and built other kits from various manufacturers, but I have to admit that none of the others have the same attention to detail as Metcalfe kits do. My particular favourites would be the Signal box, the covered Footbridge and the stone/brick finish Corner shop kits. PS, I forgot to mention the laser cut Signal box interior furniture pack. Yours, Gordon Taylor, Methil, Fife, Scotland.

I’ve used these glue dispensers for 8 months now with uhu in the first pva in the second and superglue in the third. With the uhu and pva I make sure the pins are in fully in and pull them a few times in and out. With the superglue I dip the needle in acetone when reseating it. Works for me.

Thank you for the advice. I’m just starting out with making model buildings of yesteryear and Matchbox car restoration (No’s 1 to 75) and I hope to make a ‘town’ to showcase them. I think Metcalfe models are my answer for the ‘township’ buildings. I look forward to learning more.

A felt pen is much easier. What about the edges of the window openings?

    • @garyrobinson1225
      @garyrobinson1225 2 года назад

True, but the solvents used in felt tip pens tend to be absorbed into the card much more than water-based paints, which leads to darker colours on the edge if you choose the wrong colour. Window and door openings can be done in the same way. It just requires careful planning before gluing things together.

I use a cocktail stick to wrap it round and then cut the stick to length and glue it to the stack after painting the top of the stick and the pot black. I also find the pots seem a little over high so I also cut a small amount off the bottom of the chimney pot. (N Gauge).

What a shame Metcalfe don't sell water colour paints that are the same colour as there cards, especially the grey stone and brick red.
