    Excellent talk through on how to change the LCD, precise and very carefully done! I have just replaced the LCD and front case of a fluke 87V, but needed to remove the knob from the original front cover as the new one didn’t come with a knob. At first glance, it didn’t look like it was removable, but a quick look on the web showed how easy it was to remove!

    awesome video! Thank you! this was my repair based on your video, and my connectors got stuck like you said, and you do indeed need to loosen the 4 screws behind the LCD! ruclips.net/video/Q3SSpjzhtS8/видео.html

    The one i have, on AC setting, it sits at 2.2 but on DC it sits at -0.000 and jumps up to 0.001 then resets. Whats the fix on this issue?

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts Месяц назад

      Not sure exactly, but component level considerations would be the varistor, and/or aged capacitors.

    I have 2, an 87 iii and an 87. Could you list the differences. Ive fixed display issues with them and broken battery wires but they work amazing after 20 years

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts Месяц назад

      The differences between the Fluke 87 and Fluke 87 III are: Fluke 87 III has the newer white LCD backlight, as well as an easily accessible 9v Battery via the battery door. There are subtle upgrades in the specs with the Fluke 87 III. The legacy Fluke 87 and Fluke 87 III are still solid industrial multimeters. We hope you get get another 20 years out of them. Thank you for your comment!

    This was my first decent multimeter. I bought it on sale and it came with the TL175 test leads. Sold it after a very short time because it doesn't even have a Rel function. I got the same price as I paid for it but I kept the leads so I got these for free 😂

      Try disassembling completely, and spraying down the main PCB (circuit board) with 90% (or higher) Isopropyl alcohol. Let it air dry for a few days, then re-assemble and see how it goes. Please share updates. Thanks for commenting, and good luck.

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts 4 месяца назад

      @@Dendyfeb yes, but clean with the 90% or higher alcohol. Make sure it's not surface rust. If it's obvious that it's burnt, then need to replace that component, if possible. Less replaceable parts on Fluke 87V, so may need to replace entire PCB. If it's only surface rust, then there is a chance it can be cleaned and brought back. Good luck! Thank you for your update!

    Kit no longer available. Contacted Fluke to repair my meter for this issue. No longer servicing the Fluke 87 True RMS, but I could buy a new one from them for nearly $400. I tried to have this repaired back when it started happening back in 1993~1994 timeframe, but they wanted $250 as a "repair fee". I paid $225 for the meter (maybe less). I wasn't happy for sure. :(

      @@spartanreece9908 Maybe I'm blind or have zero idea how to use the old fleabay any longer, but there are no 'screen' or 'kits' or pretty much anything for the Fluke 87. I guess I continue to take it apart, clean the pads, and move on. Probably the last Fluke I ever buy after their piss-poor customer service with me (and yes, since I bought the meter).

    Hola tengo un fluke 179 con la falla de batt como se puede solucionar esa falla

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts 9 месяцев назад

      Esto puede ser una falla de un componente interno. Reemplazar la batería con una que se sepa que está en buen estado no solucionará el problema, si este es el caso. Para diagnosticar, será necesario abrir e inspeccionar la PCB principal. Puede deberse a una prueba de sobrevoltaje en el medidor. Espero que esto ayude y gracias por tus comentarios. This may be an internal component failure. Replacing the battery with a known good battery will not fix, if this is the case. To diagnose, it will require opening up and inspecting the main PCB. It may be caused by testing over voltage on the meter. Hope this helps, and thanks for your feedback.
