Welcome to Mangusto Garage, where we follow two silly English dudes playing with retro cars in the Portuguese sun.
Can Guy use a Fiat Coupe fuel pump to fix his van? Legit or Dodgey???
It's always fun getting parts all the way from America, so Guy thought he'd get creative with some old fuel pumps he had laying around.

Has Adam just found the missing Professionals Capri & also the first X-pack Capri ever made???
Просмотров 55 тыс.4 месяца назад
Adam has recently discovered what he believes to be the first x-pack widebody-special that Ford ever made which was also featured in several episodes of the classic British 70's cop show 'The Professionals'. Surrounded by mystery, it dissappeared off the radar decades ago but he takes us through why he believes this is 'the one'. Take a look and decide for yourselves whether or not he has found...

Watching this on lunch break mate
Nice one mate, thanks for the support! ❤️💪
@MangustoGarage You're welcome mate. I had to swap the fuel pump on my bike a few years ago and the connector is a fiddly push in and pull type thingy. I snapped the connector as it only nylon hence the new fuel pump. No more hassle now as ive got a set of special pliers that make disconnecting the connector a piece of piss.
Beautiful ❤
I think I've just seen a photo of this car online that I've never seen before. Is there a way to send you a link?
Sure, fire it to Mangustogarage@gmail.com thanks!
Thanks for sharing a great video
A bit different from a Capri that's for sure! 😅
From the viewpoint of a sophisticated Lancia owner such as myself, I can't really see the difference myself...... 😏
we used to have an x-Pack CapriMKII in white.
Nice! Great colour, really helps show off those aggressive lines. 👌😎
@@MangustoGarage It was Black and not white, it was an X-pack, red interior, and the engine was bored out to make it a 3.1 with a manual gearbox, i remember it being very loud, im going back to 1986-87 when i was a teenager, getting dropped off at school, it was the mkII escort that was the white x-pack, quite lucky really, my uncle was in the 2nd hand car motortrade with a forecourt and my dad worked for him so we went through quite alot of cars in those times. Sorry for the confusion.
My one had leak they make engine bay look cared for when new got mine with cap £10
For sure! Totally transforms an engine bay doesn't it. 👌😎
Well, this has certainly caught the attention of a lot of viewers and deservingly so. Just subscribed and set my notifications. Look forward to watching the journey. Congratulations. Epic car, best car, Ford Capri. When are you starting the work mate?
Thank you Scott, glad to have you on board for our adventures. Bear with us, there will be a bit of non-professionals content we've got to get out of the way for a bit, but as soon as we can we'll be on it. 👌😎
NEED AN LSD BRUV 2.8I SPECIAL OR A BROOKY🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
He sure does. I'm sure there are plenty of aftermarket options we can bully........ I mean encouraging him into buying. 😏
I HAVE OWNED 38 CAPRIS AND STILL OWN 3,I LIVED IN PORTUGAL FOR 2 YEARS AND WISH I HAD MET YOU GUYS❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@MIGHTYR1 oh no way! 38?!? Imagine if you still owned them all! 🤣 3 is a good number though. Perfectly manageable. What models have you got?
Great video Steve! Been there with you guys in the red mk2 Escort. Great event that's for sure! Cheers

Recently bought a 1/18 scale model of this very car, available from a company called Model Car Group. It sits nicely in my cabinet alongside Doyles RS2000 Escort, same scale from the same company.
Oh that's cool, 😎 great to have matching scale and manufacturer. 👌
I'm 53 now and remember watching the Professionals in awe as a kid. Got the box set of all the episodes so i know the cars off by heart! What a find that is,so good to know that it's with a proper Capri nut and not dissolved into the mists of time, well done to you for your perseverance. It's where it should be now,all the best with it fella.
Legendary show isn't it! Pleas like & subscribe to keep updated on this build. 👌😎
The x pack has been restored and also put the number plate in to RUclips and it will show up the one from the show being restored 15 years ago
Which is a Czech built replica with show plates. SOO636R is right hand drive. That one on RUclips is left hand drive. Don’t worry easy mistake to make.

There's a honda xl 125 ( orange one ) out there somewhere been pretty much in all thames tv productions purdy sat on it and the professionals chased it? Where is it?❤
Oh that'd be cool to find! 😍
Very cool….those wheels ❤️🔥…good luck on the restoration 😎
Surely to god that car deserves an absolutely back to totally original spec restoration. Its RUclips gold ! If done correctly it would be worth eye watering money.
Yeah it'll be to original spec but high standard. I'm even going to try and bully Adam to fully repair put those unique under-lip X-pack wings back in because they are mega-unique!
Not a Professionals Capri.
Well there’s 4 episodes with it in. Do a google..
If you can't pronounce the word, 'heinous' correctly, please stop using it.
We're glad that was your biggest takeaway from this video. 👍🤣

Thanks for your support! We've got lancia delta, dodge van and mitsubishi gto content in the pipeline too. 🙂
Great to see it saved and a sensible resto too Great Find !
Only had kn total around five different Capris.. always 1.6 or 2.0 ...i wish I'd kept my mk 1 1600 xl .... always mark 3's after that..i only parted with them because poor advice from non appreciative parents...we love them but they aren't always the wisest ...that was a long time ago. I'm saving for another but I'm only over 4 grand saved so far way off my target .... right 👍 well done for finding the important Capri it's no joke that's gonna be cool
Just goes to show your parents aren't always right! 😬 Keep working hard and saving man, hope you can get another one. 👍
Great find. I've now subcribed and eagerly waiting to see the rebuild.
Thanks for the sub! It might be a little while before we can make headway on this project but I hope you enjoy the other content we'll be putting out in the meantime. 🙂
Actually I should have said mark 1 three litre GXL......not GT XLR.....😮
Glad you found this. Owned mark 1 three litre GT XLR, mark 2 three litre Ghia and mark 3 three little Ghia back when they were current. Loved them all. Always liked the professionals too so will be watching this with much interest. The very best of luck with the restoration. 👍
Lovely models you had there! If only you still had them, as they say! 😬😍
I had a Mk2 3.0s in silver back in the 90's, I always thought the Mk2 was the neatest shape, especially with the S chin spoiler, had a Mk1 3000GXL as well as a Mk2 3.0 Ghia, loved Capri's after dad bought a brand new 1600XL facelift in diamond white with red vinyl followed by a secondhand 3000E, it was the V6 noise that got me hooked
Nice models and great memories I'm sure! Ooooo nice, white with red vinyl! 😍😎👌
WTF, says he isnt gunna show the chassis number but within seconds shows us the chassis number.
He didn't show all of it, just the first bit. Notice how he covers the important part to stop some scally from trying to clone it. 😬
Here in Australia we got the 70's Ford Capri here (no 80s models) but we would put a Ford 302 cube Windsor or a Ford 351 (5.8 ltr) Windsor or Cleveland as we have them in abundance here from the Falcon/Fairlane., (5.8 ltr) V8 in them until the dickwads in power banned them.
Nice! I had a mk3 that I nearly put a 302 Windsor in, but other projects happened. Potentially saved my life not fitting that engine!
Just found this one through a facebook page & ive subscribed for the updates!
Thanks for the sub, much appreciated!
just found this, are there more episodes?
There will be in the future months, so please sit tight. Unfortunately we're both battling either a backlog of projects, full time employment or both! 😬
Memories thank-you.
Much prefer the MK1 had far more stance and presence the original is always the best ! 👍
Great find
There’s a special place reserved in hell for whomever painted it black.
you didnt line the valve hole up :( too busy washing your boxers ?☹
Guy was washing his boxers, Adam was doing the welding. Definitely would have been weird the other way round! 🤣 But now you mention it, I can't unsee that valve hole thing........ 😬😂
It's got to be restored.
Top mount struts plates are factory for Rallye Sports it started with MK1 escort
There MK2 escort L wheels ( supposedly late MK1 Mexico's). That's all ford did & is why you fit tyres from the " back" on them.
I thought it had triple down draughts as part of its original spec?
No mate soo622r did but this one had a 40dfi5.
Some bar stool nicked my mk2 last year.so far i ain't heard a thing.and probably never will.what annoys me most is i bought it years ago when they were cheap and it was a good solid example.
Oh no way, sorry to hear that mate. It's surprising they get away with it with how rare they are now.
Good luck; these babies need to be protected.
I use to own VHK 11W It was the gold mk3 3.0s from the Professionals. Flogged it in the 90,s for £1000 thought it was just another 3litre Run of the mill rott box !!! I’m sure I read a few years back it’s was worth £80000 now Gutted !!!!😢
Oh no way! That was definitely the one that got away!
MK 1 is the nicest model more mini muscle car looks - my opinion. I look forward to looking at the build :)
Oh don't worry, Adam has mk1 for some future content too! 😎
Specification for SOO 636R when built.Parts were variously sourced from Ford Of Britain, Zakspeed, and Ford AVO. Engine Number SY06822. Engine upgrade to 175bhp and 194Ib ft of torque thanks to triple weber carburettors, cast alloy manifolding, larger inlet and exhaust valves and electric fuel pump, limited slip differential, ventilated disc brakes with Granada calipers 7 and a half inch four spoke alloy wheels with 205/60 or 225/60 tyres, stiffened suspension, uprated front anti roll bar and anti dive kit, glass - fibre front and rear spoilers and extremely wide 'Spa' wheel arch extensions from Zakspeed. SOO 636R's retail price was £9625.00. You really need to get your facts right about this car,. If there are Two of them there is something seriously wrong. As I understand it the car didn't exist in the late 80's so you need to be careful because of what it is. By the way my name is Alan Brannigan and I worked for Ford in the 1970's and 1980's at AVO and SVE. One of my jobs was to deliver and move press cars around. I was lucky enough to drive SOO 636R along with other press cars. I also worked on the development of the Capri 2.8 injection at SVE and had VVW 8W one of the press cars for a while. Am getting on a bit now (72) but it seems like yesterday to me. You all take care. AB
This car is in the link below being rebuilt from a black car 14 yrs ago something not quite right is there 2 of them?? ruclips.net/video/5_Mw5b0h0zg/видео.htmlsi=-XDsy7kiO5Ma6dCp😮 Saying that the one in the link is LHD and looks to be just using the registration plates?
Exactly. It's in Czech and they've just had UK show plates made for it.

hi just for info Björn Waldegård is Swedish not Dutch
Our mistake! Thanks for the info/correction. 👍🙂
I’ve just found your channel thanks to this vid, I’m a Capri nut, loved this vid, subscribed and I’m in for the journey..
Thanks mate, welcome along for the ride. We'll have plenty more Capri content, but we'll be mixing it up with other stuff (lancia deltas, dodge vans, kawasaki gpz turbo) which I hope you'll enjoy too. 🙂
Bjorn waldegard was Swedish. 1979 world rally champion, passed away aug 2014.
Did you see the video of SOO363R being restored in the Czech republic on youtube. obviously not the real car but it was being shown at car shows. It does prove that there are 'fakes' all over the place.
Yeah, though I think that was intended as more of a 'replica' wasn't it?
