Hi! I transcribed this amazing solo by guitar virtuoso Pat Metheny, one of my favorite guitar players. The song is James published on the album "Offramp" in 1982. Chech out the backingtrack: ruclips.net/video/7uw_7QKJRfs/видео.html Hope you enjoy!
Bright Size Life - Pat Metheny (Cover)

This is a cover of the fantastic song Bright Size Life from the album "Bright Size Life" - 1976 by Pat Metheny. I just had to learn the solo for the sake of the practice. It was a really fun solo to learn an analyse! I hope you enjoy my cover and i know it isn't perfect it's just to document my guitar journey. I used backing track from Nacho Jimenez's video: ruclips.net/video/kdv1PitB_Kk/видео....
0:17 the slur from B to Bb from the first to second bar is missing a flat sign in the sheet music 🤓
Sweet.
great tone
Amazing! 👏👏
Takk! 🫶
Julian is such a freak 😂 great transcription and playing, I can’t even imagine trying to transcribe something like this
Thank you so much!!
Very nice. John from Guitar store
Thank you so much! Really nice to meet you ☺️
slow it down and really nail the phrasing before trying it at tempo, you aren't cutting it that fast i'm afraid and trying to play fast before you are ready will actually hold you back in the long run.
Wonderful
Inspiring ❤
great job! could i get the pdf please?
Do you still play the AF? Thinking about buying one
Yes! Lovely guitar, I really recommend it!
great work!
Awesome playing dude))! How do you find this guitar?
You could share this transcription with your friends all over the world)))😊
Hey Roger - what an absolute treat to hear you play along with Joe Pass-I wanted to ask as a much more green jazz guitarist if you had a pdf of this transcription? Would love to sit down and dig into it and learn some stuff. Please let me know, thanks!
Beautiful playing man! What gear are using? I really liked your tone!
Thank you! Here i used neural dsp: plini archetype 😊
Keren
😮
Awesome! Are you selling a PDF of your transcription? Many thanks
Great transcription and playing man! Im curious do you first learn to play the solo by memory and then you write it down? Or first you write it down and the learn what you transcribed by reading it?
Thank you, that made my day! On this transcription in particular i learned it by ear part after part. Then i work on the more technical demanding runs and lines with a metronome. After that i glued everything together and tried to make it out alive through the whole thing haha. After that it's importen to analyse what chord tones and scale tones is used and to learn the lics. Hope that answers the question!
@@rogeramundsen126 Cool thanks! I was wondering in which part of that process you sat down and wrote what you transcribed?
@@DWScores I write it down after I've learned the solo and I'm happy with the way i play it. Then after its written down I analyse it!
@@rogeramundsen126 which software did you use to write it down?
@@shamonoise I used musescore!
Awesome..there is so much information gained in learning these solos of the masters which can later be applied to other tunes and even ballads and or song writing. All the masters did this (ex. George Benson listening to Grant Green, Tal Farlow and Wes or Earl Klugh learning tons of Chet Atkins’ tunes. Totally enjoyed!
Thank you much!! I think the best thing you do to improve your playing and improvisations is to transcribe solos, so I think I will keep doing it 😄
Sensacional!!!
amazing!
Thank you!
Ibanez?! Really?! That's a real beauty! 😱😳
Thank you so much man!! 😄
Man !!! I listened to this solo many many times and i wanted to play it but it was discouraging but your video is gonna be very very helpful to start this project of playinn this solo ! Thank you soooo muchhh ! You are very inspiring ❤
Thank you so much man!! That's really nice to hear ❤️
My hat's off to you well done!!!
Thank you!!
👏
so good !
Thank you!
great work!!
Thx!!
Congrats ,you nailed it .
Thank you!
Would love to shed this if you add the pdf to the description!
Exellent
Thx!
Is it possible it as a PDF?
Wow. Love your guitar, what model is it? Awsome playing!!
Thank you so much! It's an Ibanez Af2000
I hear Julians name a lot but until now was unfamiliar with his playing. I will be investigating further.
He is worth checking out! Amazing guitarist and improviser.
@@rogeramundsen126 You have any specific recs?
@@ioioio13 I really like his original compositions, so i would check out his new album: view with a room. The songs auditorium, Word for word, Chavez and Fairbanks is more modern but really beautiful. But to be honest the whole album is great. But if you like standards i would check out his solo on St Thomas, I'll be seeing you again and some day my prince will come with Martin Taylor. Just to mention some! 😄
Great!
Thx!!
May I ask how you've worked on your technique?
I've played for some time now, but i think learning solos and doing exercises to improve speed and accuracy is the way to go. This will help ear training and improvisation too if you do it the right way!
Awesome.
Inspiring!
Julian Lage is very inspiring!
Great stuff. As a non-player, I always wonder why Julian sounds so different than other players. I still don't know, but fun to listen! Thanks.
I think Julian lage is an extremely creative and talented guitarist, it seems like there is no barrier between him, his ideas and the guitar!
If you can play just friends without copying a joe pass solo you are a great player! Copying a solo just means you have developed good technique!
Thank you, i think it's important to transcribe solos from the greats to learn the language and to learn their ideas when you improvise!
True but he has learned some great licks from a master that he can use now.He is lucky to have that good techincal skill. Remember Pass was a great improvisor but also a huge lick player. Steal from the best.
Fantastic!
Thank you so much!!
Julian is like no other. And amazing playing man. well done
Julian Lage really is a force of nature
This is truly awesome! I would love to learn how to play like this..
Thank you so much! You will, just keep practicing! 😃
Genuine, alive!!
Thank you!!
That is incredible - for Julian Lage to invent it, and for you to play it so beautifully. Well done
Thank you so much Ross! 😃
My goodness, great!
Thank you!
Amazing!
Thank you! 😃
Wow! Really good feel, well done!
Thank you so much!!
Outstanding my friend!! Kudos! No small feat playing that.
Thank you, thats really motivating to hear!
Great work, great guitar, great playing! 👏
