北陸新幹線 E7系・W7系 ♥️ Hokuriku Shinkansen E7 and W7 series The JR East Hokuriku Shinkansen and JR West Shinkansen connect Tokyo to the Hokuriku region via the Joshinetsu region. The first units of the JR East E7 series were introduced in 2014 as the Asama, between Tokyo and Nagano, and were opened in 1997 for the Nogano Winter Olympics as the E2-200 series. They are capable of handling 30‰ grades over several kilometers and the different electrical frequencies between the JR East and JR West networks. They operate at a maximum speed of 275 km/h (171 mph). In 2015, the E7 and W7 series replaced the E2-200 series on the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Kanazawa. In 2022, an E2 series was repainted in white and green as the 200 series to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen. According to JR East, the remaining purple-striped J50 E2-1000 Tohoku Shinkansen units will be retired around 2025. Replaced by JR East's E7 and JR West's W7 series, the E7 and W7 series are the same except for the logo. The E7 and W7 series have the same basic design and layout as the E2 series. In 2024, the network will be expanded to Tsuruga and the many hot springs in Toyama, Ishikawa, and Fukui prefectures as well as the cliffs of Hillinbo. An extension is also planned to Osaka, Japan's second largest city. Each car has an on-board passenger information system and snack and beverage vending machines, and easy access for disabled people and toilets. The Green Car cars have an atmosphere of calm and elegance, with comfortable seats where the backrest and seat are connected and move like a cradle. The interior of the Ordinary Car cars is rich and colourful thanks to the checkered seats and, just like in the GranClass and Green Car cars, each seat has a power socket and USB ports.
