Coho 55 qt Cooler (Costco) Ice Retention Test
Hi youtube, here is a quick video test of the Coho 55 qt cooler surviving a bachelorette weekend. Weather was not the warmest unfortunately, 60s-70s fahrenheit.
Bought the (40 lbs) ice Tuesday night and stored it in the cooler. Dumped it in with 30 cans on Wednesday night. The next few days it was loaded with champaign and all kinds of stuff, hardly anybody remembered to latch it... the final day I found it left open! But it kept ice for 5 days. I'm super impressed. $119 at Costco! or $139 Costco online with shipping.

zero customer support and no way to reach for warranty issues stay away from this company
COHO sucks as a company zero customer support I have a leaky cooler brand new and damaged my trailer floor this company has never responded to calls emails or facebook messages. Sad this company has no concern about the customer

Funny a lot of the Yetians getting offended over the inconsistency of the comparisons. Fact of the matter the Coho (cheaper cooler) does the job as well. It just comes down to how much you want to pay and if you want to pay a couple extra hundred bucks for the brand.
Hows the yeti holding up? Have you experienced any warping on the lid?

Are the baskets the same size? Can you use the yeti basket on the coho ?
Now that summer is almost over, do you have any additional comments about the cooler? I just bought one today and your review is one of the only ones online! Thanks you for posting. Dont listen to all the haters lol.
My only gripe remains with the handles being hard to pull. Otherwise I really love it! I took it out again for some hot 4th of July camping and it was great. For the price, I think it is hard to beat. I do the yeti style "pre-cooling" beforehand so I'm not sure how much that helps.
Good to know! Either of those coolers are overkill for me. I have the thinner, lighter, and cheaper coolers (Coleman, Engel). That said, if I start taking longer trips, I might add a Coho to the three I already have.
Not sure how this is a review without actually reviewing performance. Call me crazy? I can read about the features and look at pictures on the Costco website, unfortunately your video provided no additional information.
Hi Izabella, thank you for your comment. When I bought this there were no reviews, no videos, no anything when I was looking, just the Costco website. I was bored in lockdown and thought it could be useful at the time. Good luck with your cooler research.
My coho cooler creates a suction on the lid when the ice starts to melt it becomes very difficult to open. I think I might return it back to Costco it's a bummer because I slapped some cool decals on it what a waste.
Just loosen the drain valve to release the pressure.
@@AMC-eq3jr I did I'm still on the fence of just returning it and getting something else. It is a good cooler though I will use it a few more times and see how it goes.
A Yeti will suction too. So will an RTIC
@mattvennemann3280 you are correct, I switched to an orca cooler it does the same but not as bad. The coho cooler was easier on the pocket and performed the same.
I just got one and am doing an ice test vs my old Coleman extreme. So far my old Coleman is out performing this thing in the first 24 hours. We’ll see how the next couple days go. As an FYI, one of the units at Costco had a warped lid. something to watch.
Funny, I saw the same thing about a month ago... warped lid. I thought to myself, what a pos, and didn't bother looking at any of them. Then last week I saw another batch of these coolers and they all looked real nice... so we picked one up this time. It will be an extra cooler for storing ice.

Sure but to me this is the only type of comparison that matters to me. It’s it being practically used.

you're right, it's a sad "comparison". I just put this up because at the time I bought the cooler there were no videos of the Coho at all. that may have changed by now.

My coho keeps ice way longer than my yeti. When I go to the mountains I have to decompress my coho because the gasket is so air tight. Definitely get a coho not a yeti.

I love when stupendously overpriced brands get shown up by something 1/4th the price! But agreed, the handles are brutal. I think I'm going to go with the Lifetime 55qt

Right? I finally got to test it last month in Death Valley. But, not under any kind of extreme heat. We brought it and a yeti and they were very comparable! I have some video, I’ll edit it together!

I’ll get on that! Compared to yeti last month on a trip finally after Joshua tree reservation was cancelled . It was great and totally comparable over 3 days in mild weather conditions. Will see again this summer.

This thing is incredible! I'm between this and the Lifetime 55qt right now. The lifetime looks a bit cooler and is bearproof rated. I will never hate myself enough to buy a Yeti just wasting money. Enjoy Joshua tree! 👍
Thank you! Unfortunately Joshua tree was cancelled but did take it out to Death Valley. It performed great compared to my friends Yeti. I took a few snippets of video I’ll edit together.
