Imagine having a relatively young country. Who's language had to be simplified by necessity, so that the locals could understand it. Let's give that a go: The first issue was an increasingly rapid population decline. This was caused by locals crossing the roads at dangerous locations. Despite the invention of the 'Pedestrian Crossing' some years earlier. Research soon identified that locals were refusing to use the desired crossing points, as they were confused by the word 'Pedestrian'. Locals stated they "would not be crossing the road with any nasty Pedestrians" They felt so strongly about this perceived slight on their character, that they were quick to deny that any so called 'Pedestrians', existed in their town. Further more, they were so respectable that "you will find no Homosapiens in their town either". So after some thought, the local teachers came up with the phrase 'Cross Walk'. The population of the local Homosapiens increased dramatically. The teachers partied all night long, further increasing the local population. The next issue to cross the desk of the head teacher, was that locals were confused by the word Autumn. Yes the teachers tried to patiently explain that it's a word used to describe the time of year, just before winter, when the leaves fall off the trees. Unfortunately this strategy was doomed, possibly due to massive hooch consumption by the locals. In desperation the teachers tried 'Leaf Fall'. Now it should be noted that the Chemistry teacher Jeremiah was credited with this idea, after drinking half a bottle of bourbon in the teacher's common room. This proves, Bourbon trumps Hooch. Alas this 'Leaf Fall' was also found to be too complicated for the locals. After a crisis meeting the teachers decided that the locals could just about conceptualise 'Fall'. It was at this point that the American language was birthed from the English language 😜 Depressingly after all this, education is still not sufficient to allow proper transversing of a road by the local Homosapiens at the 'Cross walk' 😢 Oh the calamity 😅
