On the Trail wall hanging process overview
Thank you for showing this. I love the pocket ! I never liked the safety pin. I found your post when looking up,pocket prayer quilts! Just an odd side note. My grandpa, from Sweden, mined gold in 1914 . Fairbanks was the town! He was there for 2 years I think. Amazing!
It's me again! It's a good thing these are addictive because I have been getting requests from everywhere! I attach a cross, angel or heart and they are now at hospice centers, hospitals, a funeral, VA centers, etc. My latest is a Backpack Blessing prayer pocket with an angel or heart and a blessing for the school year. Parents can add a message as often as they wish. I have passed on your pattern to many. Just wanted you to know that your little pockets are loved by many! Thank you again.
That’s so fun, thanks for letting me know ❤
That was the best tip ever..
I did tell you 🤷♀️😂
Don’t laugh..I’ve been making quilts for 45 years and never heard about holding your threads before you start sewing to avoid it getting sucked into the fabric🤣
Thank you
Really great video! Just one question, which stitch did you use to hand sew the lining back on? Thanks in advance!
I usually use the ladder stitch, very invisible! I think I have a video of that too?
Learning so much from you!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. You included some very helpful technical info during your presentation.
Thanks but very hard to see what you’re doing 😢
I know, I forgot about that when I put the link in my recent post. Filming actual sewing is tricky anyway, but I have gotten at least a little better at it since my earlier videos. I have a bunch to remake!
❤❤❤
Making more pocket prayer quilts and your version is by far my favorite. Not only do you have a wonderful pocket but it's so much easier to turn the inside to the outside! Thanks again!
What is your website??
www.onthetrailcreations.com 😊
Thank you, I'm going to try those Fantastix pencils with my activator. I'm a scientist and fabric artist and formulated my own activator, Sew Nature's Activator. I've been teaching Inktense for a few years now, but haven't tried all the methods you showed, thanks again for the video!
Amazing!
Great method for easy turning and no edge opening to sew🎉 Thank you for sharing this😊
Amazing info 👏👏👏👏
My mom always said never touch the bobbin tension...so I have that fear. Thanks for your thorough instructions.
It is definitely doable, but not usually necessary either 😁
Do you have to set the ink on the fabric?
You aren’t supposed to have to, but people have mixed results depending on the type of fabric, and whether or not it has sizing on it still, or whether or not every speck of Inktense got activated. so it’s best to test a sample if possible. 😅
have you tested the lightfastness of your pigments?
No, I haven’t, sorry 😅
I do have templates available now on my website!
All my relatives are Nelson. I curious who your relatives are. Do you know Lum Nelson? or Claud Alvin Nelson, or Benjamin Nelson? Lum Nelson lived in Oregon... somewhere. The rest are in Washington State like castle Rock, & Missouri. Sorry about the history lesson. I loved your video. Now I'll start looking closer at the rock's and in these Missouri creeks beds.
Where I come from originally there are literally thousands of Nelsons (Minnesota), so that’s about like asking if I’m related to a Smith or a Jones 😁
Excellent! And inspirational…
Great video. I love your detailed instructions, yet you managed not to over explain. Many thanks for your written instructions, I'm hoping to use them with a group of churches ladies.
Yay ❤❤
Best Pocket Prayer design ever. Been making these for some years now, but always used special papers and faux leathers. Always wanted to make some from fabric. The back pocket idea is the best answer for this item made with fabrics. I did a test run and love the way it turns out. I'm off and running now. Thanks for sharing.
I previously said I was making them a bit larger. I decided I like your size better! and now I add a cross or an angel and I enclose a blessing. Just took 60 to our hospice center. Can't thank you enough!
Wow, that’s amazing ❤❤
Beret, this series was so interesting. I really appreciate your sharing your tips and knowledge. I would have also liked to have known what needle(s) were used in your creations. I'm going to subscribe to your channel. PS I enjoyed your outdoor scenes as well...I lived in Anchorage for six years and miss the majestic beauty. Thanks!
Thank you! I usually use topstitching needles, definitely should have mentioned that. But honestly, I use whatever is in my machine 🤪😂
@@onthetrailcreations8638 I find that's true for me, too! Why, because I forget what's already in there.
@@lynnedforrest7900 I actually have a system for remembering… at least the size, I haven’t gotten fancier than that. But I made a pincushion with stripes for each size, so I can save needles that are used but still good. Then I put a pin in the stripe for the one that’s in the machine. Better explanation here if the link works 😅 www.onthetrailcreations.com/berets-blog/-sewing-machine-needle-organizer-pincushion
@@onthetrailcreations8638 Thank you!!!
You can try to use some fabric, maybe to lay over the rocks as you beat them to minimize the dust, maybe that would work?
Yep, I do that sometimes too. The best dust tends to stick to it though, but it does help keep it from going all over 😅
You could use washi tape or painter’s tape on your palettes (just an inch or so) to “add your friction” when using the pencil on palettes! The frugal crafter shared that and I’ve never gone back. Now, I primarily use mine on paper but, I’d assume that would also save you some scrubbing on the palette itself as well 😊
Cool idea, thanks!
Very clever and cute, thank you!
What is your set..I see something under your fabric but can’t see much
I have the 72 pack of Inktense pencils, is that what you are referring to? I started with 12 and since they blend well I was able to do a lot with those too.
@@onthetrailcreations8638 No, I think talk to text has been messing with me for a few days lol when I was asking is what is your set up under your fabric? Like what do you put under your fabric to pad it or protect it? I see something in the video I just don’t know what it is.
I can’t tell in this video, it’s a few years old, but I often use a cheap vinyl placemat or tablecloth, they work great 😁
This is a great tutorial!
I’m glad it helped!
Thank you for showing us these techniques. I never even knew that Inktense could be used on fabric.
I just started making prayer pockets and wasn't happy with the patterns I found. This is terrific! I made mine a little larger but the little pocket is so cute and a perfect way to add a blessing or prayer. Thank you for posting this - I can't wait to give these out at our local cancer center.
I’m hoping you’ll cover free motion cutwork embroidery.
Interesting, I don’t think I’ve even seen that! I’ve seen it with computerized embroidery or hand. Now I will have to try it 😁
from Gerry- I have been quilting for 30years, but that's the piecing part. I am not very accomplished at the free motion part. I appreciate the time you have taken to explain the process. Blessings.
from Gerry- MY bobbin doesn't have open space like yours for the cotton but the thought is intriguing. Thank you for sharing these great ideas. Be blessed.
Very interesting! I never thought about following backing design. Thank you!
Thank you. Have the pencils and PFD fabric and textile medium. Now to find artwork in a coloring book. 😊
I think I neglected to mention that this particular coloring book gives permission to use for personal use or teaching. It’s always good to check copyright rules 😅 It’s usually fine to just try things, just not to sell or post publicly 😅
Interesting technique. Don't know how I could manage without the knee lift, however, but will give it a try...Thanks
That definitely helps… I am very dependent on mine all the time now 😅
I have so much water soluble stabilizer and I believe i have a blank canvas around here too. Cute idea! Also, received my box, can’t wait! (I make my own fabric with threads & stuff using two layers the stabilizer. Looks so cute on denim. ❤
Yay, I’d love to see 😁
When you talk behind the camera (you could if removed it) it doesn’t sound like you’re wearing a mask, some stone dust can be deadly especially if you don’t know the rock type. There is a kid on TikTok that is now making videos raising awareness about the disease, he has from carving and sanding rocks without a mask. He is going to die from this. Please protect yourself. You are important
This is ingenious. I didn’t line mine even and they turned out fine. I did slip a cross under the first flap before I flipped the second one based on someone else’s comment. Soooo much easier than the other method I was using.
Very helpful!
👍👍👍🙏💕❤💐
Great creative way to do the mulling.
Thanks! I will be making these
So it’s like a pillowcase for a throw pillow.
Yep, same concept but tiny 😊
Loved it! Thanks for the easy and cute idea!
