This is the spot where several distinctly unrelated obssessions tend to meet in a cacophony of coo-coo clips from my video vault. Among the suject matter: Firesign Theatre, Monkees, Daniel Johnston, Not Daniel Johnston, Spinal Tap, Texas Pop Music, and my old public access zaniness.
William Shatner Songspeaks Eric Clapton: "Tears In Heaven" 1992
The last of the 5 songs recorded by song-speaker William Shatner and the band Jellyfish for the 1992 MTV Movie Awards. I assume that it was due to the personally sensitive nature of this Eric Clapton hit that this performance apparently was not actually used during the airing of the awards show.

And now, the earth-shaking... okay, PORCH-shaking conclusion of John Landis' legendary post-"1941" short comedy "Disaster At Buzz Creek"!
"DISASTER AT BUZZ CREEK" [1/2] (dir. John Landis 1985)

Director Landis and executive producer Steve Martin couldn't ask for a finer cast than they got in this episode of the short-lived anthology series "Comedy Week" in 1985. Don Rickles, Don Knotts (in his most disturbingly inane role ever!), Fannie Flagg, Stephen Collins... the list goes on! (Part 1 of 2)

A cast culled from America's best comedy troupes (SNL's Laraine Newman, The Credibility Gap's David L. Lander, The Committee's Howard Hesseman) power this pink & black comedy directed by Peter Bonerz (also ex-Committee) which aired only once, as an episode of CBS-TV's attempt at a "Twilight Zone of laffs", the 1985 "George Burns Comedy Week" anthology series. The first of two songs recorded by the Songspeaker for the 1992 MTV Movie Awards that were not aired during the actual program. There's a "false start" version also included to help get you into the mood. (I've already posted the three songs that MTV *did* run.)
Meeting of the Minds: Rush Limbaugh "Meets" Gibby Haynes!

Yes, it's finally back! The legendary clip featuring rightie Rush and his cranky claim that Butthole Surfers main man Gibby Haynes was a fan but had to be thrown out of the Limbaugh show audience! (For the record, Gibby later insisted that he was nowhere near the TV taping, and when I called the EIB office for their side of the story, Limbaugh's producer Kit Carson shrugged it off, saying that ...

The Davy Jones segment gave me a Beatle vibe a little bit because it reminds of the end of Magical Mystery in the scene and the song, Your Mother Should Know.
In a strange twist of fate, Gibby outlived Rush! Karma's a bitch, ain't it?
The last fragment left of this concert online, it used to be available in full but it’s gone now 😢
Rush’s story checks out. Apparently “not dressed properly” means he was supposed to be wearing socks with his sandals.
I love you, Ivan stang. This is truly my favorite video on RUclips. I'm blessed to have watched this.
He was missing a string or two but still rocked it. He was art
He rose from the ashes of the 3rd Reich. He came from a very wealthy publishing family and after being whisked away to a concentration camp. He had a gun to his head where he was forced to sign over the family business to Uncle Adolph and pals. He was also a notorious chess hustler. Whilst a janitor and Stanford U. he challenged 30 of the faculty to simultaneous matches and won. He was no dummy.
This guy? Nah, I don't think so. 😂😂😂😂😂
Gibby Haynes would regularly show up on Fox News back in the day.. ‘Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t’ as they say
I remember seeing this when it was new
Later to find out Rush was snorting Oxy's by the handful.
Great interview
What is the name of the song he's singing?
Just ordered a copy of this on VHS. Can't freaking wait
this guy died well before I was born but I have real love in my heart for him. I don't think I can say that about anyone else I never met. His work meant the world to me growing up
Yeah cancer took out that cancer
This is his most Syd Barrett like video. That thumbnail was Syd all over. Wonder what he thought about Pink Floyd?
I think Peter Torkelson was an amazing person and am so very disappointed that there's no sound at all in this interview. Would have loved to hear what he said - damn !!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
the irony of rush limbaugh saying someone else was too wasted
“Adult beverages” Wow I didn’t know acid counted as a beverage
young zach hadel
Definitely seemed the most temperamental of the Monkees. I always felt like he had the biggest issue with his time in the band. Still seems very likeable, though.
Nice video. Remember Mel doing a video with Spike Jones called CLINK, CLINK, ANOTHER DRINK. On a different note, what was the one thing Bugs Bunny never said to his proctologist? You guessed it, "What's "UP", Doc......
bzzzzzzzzzzt!!!!!
Really Really bad Jack Kirouack….
I miss the World Weekly News. They were the only ones to come right out and expose the Matrix we live in. The statue of Elvis on the dark side of the moon for instance. I almost bought the Bat Boy Tshirt, but the voices on my tin-foil hat talked me out of it, I bought more weed instead.
so who did dan wham again? was he involved with the band "the rhythm rats?"
Thanks for posting this. It's like comedy gods of my youth came together and made a little baby!
Next time you're in a book store, take a peek at the classic 1845 German "children's" book Struwwelpeter (you can also find it online as a PDF). Theodore's grave warnings to children were very similar to the tales in that book of what befalls a child who does not behave. It wouldn't surprise me if he himself was read those tales as a child and thought they would make for a great offbeat "comedy" show. They are grisly as can be.
0/10. The supposedly "pro 2a" group wouldn't allow Gibby to do his Iconic shotgun bit on stage
Interview boy is so fucking HOT.
we all obviously like Daniel and root for him, his songs would have a lot more staying power if he just tweaked it ever so slightly and tuned his shit (even if it wasn't in key per se), or maybe played things that resembled chords. I'm sure he had musicians that selflessly tried over the years but he's idiosyncratic af and probably just didn't care... which makes him a hero to many. I do like this version too but in a different way. that second chord he plays brings it all home if you wanna know more about formless noise in music I suggest you listen to the garbage that is called Lou Reed's Metal Machine Noise and tell me its all about the emotions maaaan.
i cant handle him skjbshs
He just only needed grammar school to be a genius and to lecture college students. Now we have seen bunch of pretentious titled commie scholars brainwashing students.
My friend said that rush is actually Jim Morrison
Lmao
The Hills Have Eyes 3...!!!!! Is this real it's not right?????...also where the fuck are the parents?!🤔
Worst acting ever lmao
I showed this to Gary at McDonald’s
well what did gary think?

I used to read this Tabloid at Safeway, it is the Holy Bible News to me & to my UFO World Community! 12yrs old 1978 San Francisco seen a dark Gray-Grey/blackish Metallic Octagon shaped ET Alien UFO Starcraft, looked like Lunar Module w/no protruding arms+legs, spellbinding, neighborhood was mystified, 28,000 to 42,000ft', all the way up to Ozone Layer Atmosphere, then Interplanetary to Interstellar Outerspace far as the eyes can see, wished I had a telescope, took 20mins, damn I'll never forget it!
Simply WONDERFUL A GODSENT ALL ENJOY THIS KIND MAN AND HIS BEAUTIFUL VOICE.❤❤❤
His voice. Just makes me want to smile and hug somebody.
All these normal people.... the amount of mental neurosis in that room could fill a therapy textbook
The audience looks like an 80s Southern Baptist church congregation. A vote for Reagan is a vote for Jesus !! oof
