The cover artist who did that final edition you showed (1994) is Michael Wimmer (my edition has his name embedded within the publication information). I have no idea why they would leave out 5 of her color illustrations but it is such a shame! I suppose it probably had to do with space or money or permissions. But what a pity! Will have to get your recommended 1978. Thank you again!!!💕

I was able to get a copy of this, dust jacket and first ed. with a bundle woth the Land of Oz (blue cover not Denslow drawing) for $25!

That dust jacket makes me wish there were an animated adaptation based on the W.W. Denslow illustrations.

My first vhs of the wizard of oz was the 1988 red cover version which was also my father's first version too! He gave me that same tape after he purchased the 1992 version.

I totally agree that this producer shouldn't change the starting place of where Dorothy comer from. I also don't like the fact he keeps saying that MGM's Wizard of OZ is the original when I have read all books of OZ and I saw a clip of the 1903 show thanks to a friend of mine.

I like the idea of matching them up and keeping them in The Smithsonian Museum for display.

I've always loved _The Wizard of Oz_ and it always makes me think of my grandmother, who introduced me to the movie and had it on VHS. I've always loved the music for the main title even when i was a young'n! Thank you for the memories!🥲

Judy had a human soul so whatever we are offered in the coming months and years cannot ever really be her. The actual soul of Judy would be totally missing. To quote Judy in her own words, - "Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else". I rest my case.

I just listened to it, it is a very small portion of the music, but it does sound almost the same, but Lund's has more trills with and a lighter tone. I'd chalk this up to either,what we call nowadays sampling, or coincidence for those notes are easy to play around with as you jam out. Even if it was deliberate like I said earlier it isn't the main bulk of the song or even the chorus (hook) portion of the song. It's not ok if it was delibrate, but everyone involved is dead now, so there's no way to truly know.

I am trying to collect early editions of the first 14. It too expensive to collect first editions so i go for the color plate editions. Even some of the reprinted Reilly and Lee first 11 books are now over 100 years old! I also love finding written in the book cover. I found some lovely hand written notes for a birthday in 1919 and another xmas note from 1921 as well.

That endorsement to use Judy's voice via AI WILL NOT be coming from Liza Minnelli herself. It will be coming from Michael Feinstein, who is currently exploiting Liza at any given opportunity. Liza has serious dementia issues at the moment, and Michael Feinstein appears to be capitalizing on that fact. He rolls her out at the drop of a hat for all kinds of events, even though she can no longer walk. Its just terrible.. Liza is too fragile to realize she is being exploited.

AI makes me profoundly uncomfortable. A lot of what I've seen and heard is not perfectly realistic yet -- but some of it could pass for authentic already and I expect that it will continue to improve. I don't like the feeling that the audience may be tricked into thinking that they are hearing the celebrity speak when they are not and I don't like the exploitation.

I’m very much against it, and find it disturbing as well. It’s not loving or connecting to Judy, it’s connecting to something that isn’t Judy, it’s connecting to something that just sounds like Judy, something pretending to be her, which takes something that is sacred and unique to Judy. It goes from experiencing something genuine and real to something so far removed from reality. It’s not like impersonation or tributes. Makes me feel pretty sad. Judy’s voice shouldn’t be for any one else to wield but her.

According to the Judy Garland Museum they wanted to keep the Slippers in a safe every night to prevent theft. The owner did not want them touched however so the safe was not used. Perhaps if the museum owns them they can keep them in a safe at night to prevent theft from happening again.

I think the Smithsonian should purchase them and re-mate them with their correct pairing. Then they could have an extended lifespan by switching them out over the next 100 years.
