Hello Sofia and Thomas. Your tutorials are simple, precise and very consistent. In fact, you always get to the point, and avoid drowning us in details, which too often are a sneaky way for other trainers/web sellers to confuse us and make us a little dependent on their knowledge..... So why don't you offer lessons or even case studies online ??? @@@ paid of course to compensate for your educational work....In fact, in a few weeks, I have really become a loyal fan of your tone, your thoughts, your hearing sensitivity and also your open and tolerant mind. Thank you for reading my missive translated by Google of course...hahahaha.

Hello Sofia et Thomas !!! another post from me ... after watching all your videos, I think this one is the best of all. In addition to my experience as a simple viewer of many tutorials on audio for at least 15 years, I even suspect that your video is a real bomb in the world of "educator" sellers who populate the web ... I will not mention any names out of courtesy. On the other hand, I send you all my gratitude for your sharing on this subject and others . It is a noble and humanist act that brings our mind and our actions towards a happy sobriety. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP 💯👍

little sneaky noises, that we barely hear when they are there ... But when they disappear, for a fraction of a millisecondes it leaves a deep silence ... Do you have fox ears? or bat ears? or dolphin ears? I'll let you choose. Thank you for all these beautiful thoughts that you offer us.

hello ... you don't use a DIN measurement to listen to the impact of the low frequencies of a signal? in the USA, producers are all addicted to this type of calibration. If anyone is interested I could give the settings to obtain this. Thank you Thomas et Sofia for your work.

Cher thomas et Sofia ...you are amazing ... Why do so few people "like" you on youtube? Don't they see you with all the tutorials that exist? Or maybe you just prefer this old Japanese adage; "A drop of ink that falls into a glass, dilutes and the intensity is unbalanced ... ". Thanks for these superb tips and frankly you kick the butts (with gentleness and wisdom) to many pseudo mixing teachers and others on the internet. . looking forward to following you again.

so I mastered a track as usual (not always being unhappy with the result) ... And then I tested the respect of the staging gain of -18 lufs throughout the process and before the last limiters. It's fantastic, the difference is huge ... because I really heard what each plugin was doing on the signal, and the settings were easier to make. A big thank you for this vital and basic teaching.

I’m a complete amateur self learner and based on a bunch of RUclips videos, I just jam a limiter with -0.3db to avoid blowing up the volume bar in the mastering chain. And I feel most of the songs don’t sound quite right no matter how I adjust the rest of the mix. But it is probably what you’ve illustrated in this video, and my random uneducated use of the limiter that causes this. Thank you and I’ll dive deeper into this topic.

Thank you so much! It’s something I always take care even in the mixing process, I like to mix into 3 mixbuss, I > II > III > Master each one doing little or much of something I can disable and listen what it does, otherwise it’s easy to fool yourself if its louder, it easily gets messy.

    • @LeonardoLima-nk4fv

By the way one thing I probably would have done in this mix earlier or later, it’s some good harsh tamer (TDR arbiter for Ex)to control something harsh mid to high on some specific region that isn’t a transient catch by the clipper

Thanks for making this video... How do you feel about tilt EQs in mastering? (To make overall adjustment brighter or darker.) Using Pro-Q 3, I tried an extreme +18dB tilt followed by a -18dB tilt in a second instance and it didn't damage the sound. That makes me think a more moderate adjustment would be a safe way to gently shift the overall balance.

In a world that has not only made “compression” synonymous to “Downward Compression” but also has put “downward compression” on a pedestal …to the point where upward compression and expansions are not even discussed as an optional “Dynamic range controlling” techniques, here is one channel that decided to put things in perspective and demonstrate techniques beyond the default downward compression. Absolute ‘must watch’ for anyone who deals with dynamics processing; sit up, wake up and ponder over possibilities.

I've always found it difficult to grasp limiting as a compressor or even the implications of compression itself. You're trained as a newbie as something that makes it louder but the risks are never really communicated well. The main one I've heard is it could kill you low end. This has been useful
