The Value of Person Centred Arts at The Laurel Ward
From August 2015 - March 2016 Understanding Arts collaborated with The Laurel Ward, an Older Adult Mental Health Unit in Scunthorpe which is part of the RDASH NHS Foundation Trust. Matthew Laurie and Orla O'Connor visited the unit every week and engaged with people living with dementia and acute mental health problems using person centred arts - music, movement, dance, and puppetry. In this short film staff working at the unit express the value of the work and how the project impacted upon the patients and the people that care for them.
