Building an Epic Middle Earth coffee table with hidden features for my living room
I wanted a new coffee table for my living room to replace the old store bought standard table. First I build a funky unique shaped piece but everyone said it was not functional enough so I moved it to the front entrance and build this in it's place. Very happy with how it turned out.

Setting Our Lights On Fire... Sort Of
just incredible! thanks
Nice work. Stuff some keywords in your description, change the title or something. So much work deserves to be seen!
Great design! Do you have any advice on how to do it when only a track saw is available?
Not sure how you would do it with a track saw with the different angles, fence settings and depths. That might be a tough go.
HOw do we raise the height of the seat? (knee surgery)
You can certainly move the slot in the back rest up to give you extra height. You may have to adjust the length of the seat out the back. I would suggest cutting it a bit long and trimming it to get the perfect angle for you.
@@uniquegeekdiy Thank you!
Why using 2x material? Just how much weight are you expecting to carry?
Jarl was certainly not a middle class citizen.... They were the leaders of their region under the king's authority
This is great 🎉
How does this only have 670 views? Crazy.
Very cool! Good stuff!
The two panels are too big with those measures
Thanks for this great design. Our family enjoys playing “NO MERCY UNO” which can easily result in holding 25 or more cards. These holders solved the problem for my 74 year old hands.
What’s the maximum weight it safely holds?
It is pretty sturdy. I would guess up to 300 lbs.
Great, maybe, have another version with more color? Many ancient art pieces were completely painted with multiple colors, but most of the paint came off over the centuries.
Gorgeous! You are correct about the basic chair design coming from Africa. Malawi wood carvers create amazing chairs in different woods.
any chance for plans in millimeters? being from europe, I'm no good in inches :(
No sorry I don't. Here in Canada we kind or run both systems and in my woodworking I tend to fall to inches. Google makes quick work of conversions.
❤❤ many thanks for the instructions. This is the most functional design with detailed plan I can find online. Just made two for friends. Thanks for sharing it with us
Star gamer chairs
Unique pieces. Hats off
I love the "YOU CAN ALWAYS TRY" one
Stumbled on your video today and it got my blood pumping and my creative juices flowing. My one question i have is you showed the height of the first one, what were the heights of the other ones.?
Hi, glad you like it. Each one is about 10" higher than the previous chair. Really just comes down to personal taste though, you can do any height.
Thanks for responding.
Awesome video pal. Love it. Cheers.
Awesome!
I tried this last year but even with a light engrave they tasted awful, not edible. Were yours edible or taste bad in any way?
While they were not inedible they did have a slight burnt taste to them.
I love it!! My wife would never allow it in the living room, but, I am gonna make the basement into living space soon enough and build all the furniture myself. She will never know what hit her! Great stuff! Great music selection also! Do you have a link to those corner clamp gripper attachment to the Irwin clamps? genius idea, cannot believe I never seen them before.
Thanks for the comments. Those corners I use for all my shorter projects I need to square up. I got them from Lee Valley Tools. They are called a Veritas 4 Way Speed Clamp
@@uniquegeekdiyThank you and I can't wait to see the next project!
First you made the first one machines did most the other ones second Odin has wolves not hounds third what in the nine relms are those runes you got R and ae in elder fathrek but what are these zig zags almost capital G and upsidown u rune like jeeeeeeeez man your Killin me
Great work my friend. I'm from the UK. Loved the game in the 70's as a child. Wish I had your talent and tool. It is a lovely piece of work.
Not a Viking chair! Probably of African origin.
I do address that in the video. Viking chair is just a common term that has been given to that type of chair these days, not the origin.
So, it’s clickbait. Keep you’re facts right.
@MatsN so is "probably" a fact?
@@paulbateman5769 In this case. Probably. It's certainly not Viking. That's a fact.
@@MatsN how do you know?
Not a Viking chair. It’s probably of African origin.
Yes, Viking chair is just the common term these days for that style, not because they originated there.
These are awesome. I am headed out to the bench right now.
That was rad
This video deserves more credit
Glad you got some value out of it
Thanks I'll be making one tomorrow for the grand kids.
Awesome, I have built a lot for kids over the years
Gorgeous table! I love it and the fact that you can put whatever you'd like in the bottom and that you showed several options in the video! So cool!
I counted several Dad jokes in there. :D
Fantastic video! Subscribing!!!
Glad you liked it, welcome to the channel.
Unfortunately, those aren't Viking era chairs at all. But they are cool.
It does address that in the video that they are not historically from the Viking era and that is just what they have come to be known as.
They're coming from Africa.
I saw this on Reddit earlier 🎉
Thanks for coming along. I have dozens of interesting projects in the works.
The top and bottom are so completely different styles, I personally don't like this table at all. It's like 3 completely dissonant ideas mashed into 1 project. Great execution, not my taste
I understand, we all have our preferences, that is what makes the world interesting. I see trends that many people love and I do not personally understand the attraction (most barnwood projects for example). The world would be boring if we all only liked the same thing. Thanks for the comment.
Excellent video! Thank you!
Really appreciated not only the teaching on the construction and variations of style..but loved the history as well.... definitely made me a subscriber
Glad you enjoyed it
Level 20 is perfect! I am learning how to work on cnc to do this kind of stuff
Awesome, would love to see what you build.
Does anyone know where I can get the beholder and mimic images? It's the main screen shown here. at 35 seconds too.
Hi Frankie, Those are images I licensed from an Artist for my own use so I do not have the rights to redistribute them. You can check out Printable Heroes website and you may be able to find what you are looking for there.
Of the four classes of chairs that I just saw? I'd prefer the "peasant" one, less fuss in the construction process, it just took two pieces, of the same 2x6 board to make it
Yes, they are all just as functional for as a chair. Does just depend on how much fussing you want to do.
@@uniquegeekdiy That's why I picked the first chair made, It's just simple to do.
Have fun with it
Sorry, this type of chairs are not authentic. Not for Vikings and not for Medieval. That are birth chairs from Africa.
All of that was addressed in the video. Yes Viking chairs is just what they have come to be commonly known.
I did something like this a month ago with plans from Woodglut.
Good job at disguising a nerd gaming video as a woodworking video....and this comes from the heart, as I was an avid D&D'r in the 80s, and an avid woodworker now...
It is always good to combine things you like.
Three classes were thralls at bottom, Karls were middle class land owners and merchants, and jarls were the nobility . Also simple tools? You have automated stuff I've never seen before. Wish you kept it simple. And as you said, if we are trying to be historically accurate, these chairs don't work. Waste of time.
The waffle house has found it’s new host
really cool
