We have a house in Cape Cod as well, and I have to say that every time we drive through New Haven, I think of Karen and Richard. Along with the Frank Pepe billboard….

I,listened to her solo album. It was too of a fast tempo for her voice. She is better with ballads , show casing her voice. The songs didn’t do her Justice. I’m not a producer but I even know that wouldn’t work for her .

My friend and I snuck into the theater to see Walking Tall. We weren't even teens yet. Burford was our hero for many years. I trucked up and down 45 many times and stopped in Corinth most every time passing through. When i ran across Mr. Elam's videos, i immediately ordered his book and called my longtime friend and broke the news to him. We are hooked and hoping Mr. Elam can get a movie deal made.

Mike Elam has done an outstanding job of throwing back the curtain to expose what was probably one of the most corrupt law enforcement officials in Tennessee and possibly in the United States. He also shows how primitive criminal investigative techniques were just 60 years ago in rural areas which allowed a crooked sheriff to get away with murdering his wife then ironically, being made into a national hero with a phony movie. Myself, I saw the movie "Walking Tall" in mid-1973 when I came home from the Army and was quite impressed but just a few months later I was working in Charleston South Carolina when I met a couple from McNairy County Tennessee that told me that Sheriff Pusser was corrupt, taking payoffs, roughing up those who would not pay him off and had actually killed his wife. This was about August of 1973 when this couple told me this. Thanks for having Mike Elam on.

Thank you for doing this interview I just love Mr. Elam to pieces for all he has brought to light on this matter I lived in Pemiscot county Missouri and know without a doubt that our local sheriff back then had ties to Buford. And he brought a lot of liquor to Mc Nairy county through our very own sheriff. He would later reflect on this as being the good old days. I heard these stories from our Sherriff and had a son which was my husband's best friend. The Sherriff also owned a bar and fine dining establishment in Caruthersville Missouri back in the day And I know for a fact story is true Mike has done so much and I'm so proud of him Your interview with him today was remarkable God bless you both

Said she had such a rotten cold-hearted mother that didn't show any kind of love or respect for her own daughter. Seems to me she was a narcissist jealous of her own child...and Karen paid the price.

I don't know if Agnes could sing but it may have worked out better if she and Richard formed a duo, the constant nagging etc likely contributed to Karen's ailments, 1972 to 1982 must have been hell for Karen with that workload.

1979 Two ships that passed in the middle of the night. Karen Carpenter and the Real Book. The real sad part was that she could have single-handedly hijacked the American Song Book, the Jazz song book and eventually the Brazilian (Bossa Nova/Samba) songbook.

Funny that Agnes should think she killed Karen. Which tells us, “Yeah…you did.”
