So awesome! Your talent absolutely amazes me! Thank you for sharing!
I really appreciate how much work you put into not only making your graphic novel but also your vlogs! Thank you for sharing them with us.
I like your artwork 👍
Its always such a priviledge to be able to see such good art come to life. I did have a question. Do you go straight from pencils to colour without ink?
You’re doing amazing… I would have trouble with drawing the legs myself… mentally wanting them equal and forgetting perspective and one leg being in the air would automatically make it shorter than the one on the ground, contrasted with height lost being in mid stride versus standing up straight not in motion…
This has me wanting to try a beginners calligraphy kit as well! Such a cool piece of art from the colors to the scene in the middle. Really fun seeing it come together
It's a lot of fun once you get over the fear of putting ink to paper lol! Thanks for watching <3
@@JGVIllustrations I can see that. Spilling ink absolutely everywhere is also a concern haha

I've never seen someone use digital techniques that look so similar to traditional watercolor and ink techniques. So cool!!
Thanks so much! ❤
Really cool calligraphy and medieval decorative art! Simple yet somehow so complex 👍
Yes, deceptively simple haha!
Kirlin Shoals
I think it’s so cool that you draw it out on paper!!! Also, at first, I thought you were drawing a ghost 👻 until I saw the hair. 😅
Thank you so much 😀😂
Shanny Trafficway
Omfg this is so insane and so inspirational. I would like to thank RUclips for recommending me your video. Instant subscribe. I love love your art!! The process is amazing and all that hard work definitely paid off in the end 🥹🫶🏻❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found me!!! ❤❤
i'm so fan ! I love the comic so much and especially how funny some expressions are sometimes
Thank you hee hee ❤
Awesome artwork 🙏🏾💯
Thank you!
Nice
Thanks!
Not a fan of having a black dude and a female knight on medieval european setting, but the artstyle is cute.
You have to read the comic to understand, glad you like the art style 👍
really enjoyed this vlog! watching your process was so intresting and fun!
Yay!! Thanks for watching ❤
where can we read the comic?
Currently the first 2 chapters are on webtoon here: www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/girl-knight/list?title_no=843357. The story continues on Patreon: www.patreon.com/JGVillu
This is beautiful, I love your little parrot 😊. BTW where is that warm paper texture from ?
Clyde is the best! The paper texture I acquired yeaaaaars ago so I don't know anymore but you can use any paper texture image
My initials are JGV too! 👍😃
woohoo!
Beautiful composition.
Thank you ❤
Nice work.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for adding a poc character.
Edouard is one of my favorite characters 👍
This is a fantasy genre, isn't it?
No, it's a historical action comic set in 1414 France.
I wonder how action scenes would look in your style? I really like it especially how you make the eyes look.
I wonder that myself! I'm still figuring it out as I go through each scene. The first chapter is one big duel (You can read it on webtoon at www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/girl-knight/list?title_no=843357). Chapter 3 is being continued on Patreon and features a bunch of training sequences so I'm working through those at the moment
Wondering how you decided that the comic format was right for your story. As a writer whose altered his writing style recently to a more poetic style, it always interests me how a fellow writer and artist decides upon format/style.
I have a playlist showcasing the progression of how I wrote, developed and started drawing Girl-Knight. Somewhere in the early writing vlogs I made the switch and I don't remember the exact reasoning but it's in there as to why I switched from writing it as a novel to a comic. Here's the playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL9Y7NK2Rxrg1hMZtHMqBCZNAZv5KvRMON&si=2oT2_A4owy4F1STG. I agree that deciding on a format/style is an interesting choice!
Heck ya! Comics arent easy but its so worth it. Cant wait to read it all!
Definitely a long-game sort of artform----thanks!
love the gremlin look and the dude's number of the baseball game😅. And definite not boring. Educational and motivational. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos
Thanks Anthony---we all laugh at his number choice too, there's always someone who wants to be that number lmao 😆 I"m glad you enjoy these vlogs and it definitely encourages me to continue, thank you
thanks it gives me a bit motivation to go back on drawing since im struggling
You can do it! ❤️
The is the coziest vlog I have ever watched.
Thanks for watching❤️☺️
Omg Alyss looks soo cool here! Very intense expression
Thanks! I hope to be able to color it soon
This was awesome and very inspiring, keep up the great work :D
Thank you so much!
I do the longer back leg thing all the time when I animate walk cycles lol I think it's usually a combination of not enough foot peel, and yeah I think I've made the gait a bit too long, I feel you though.
Okay I’m glad I’m not the only one because that was ridiculous 😂😮💨
Wow.. soo amazing. Love your comics and videos! Thank you!
Thanks so much, really appreciate it ❤️
Your videos always leave me feeling so inspired (and a bit guilty)! I do find myself feeling a bit lazy after finishing my own work, though, and I wish I had more energy to tackle my own projects. But your content definitely motivates me to keep pushing forward! Kudos!
You can do it!! It helps to set little goals and habits, truly. Thanks so much for watching and I wish you the best ❤️
Your vlogs actually motivated me to write and continue my forgotten story that i made years ago lol. Keep doing more of these vlogs it's really lovely and motivating to watch them!!
That makes me so happy to hear ❤️ best of luck with your story!
I'm in the same boat. Working on a comic for someone while listening to you, somehow comforting. Like were in this together, lol. I always wanted to work in a comic book studio like the old Wildstorm days but the internet is the closest we will come to that. My wife and I own our own small bakery and we have 2 kids, 2 dogs, adn 2 cats... So making time to work on comics is challenging.
You have a lot on your plate, yes it must be challenging! If you can find a simple style to get more pages out and a window of time every week, I hope you can chisel out something. Thanks so much for watching ❤
i can VERY highly recommend Audible book Gormenghast By: Mervyn Peake Narrated by: Saul Reichlin .....MUST be read by Saul Reichlin.. i think based on your comic you may already know it. i found a list of my fave authors..fave authors and a number of them were Mervyn Peake super fans . Great vid as usual!
Fascinating! I’ve requested the first book from my library, I’ll check it out ☺️ thanks so much for the rec!!
I've had wrist problems for many years, now and suggest an electric eraser. It's especially helpful with a detailed pencil style like yours because it gets in the tiny corners easily. Also, it's nice to hear you talk through the process and problem solving as you go.
Great suggestion! Is there one you recommend or any are good? And thank you, I’m glad you appreciate that I go through my problem solving, sometimes I worry it’s boring so that’s good to hear!
@JGVIllustrations I have a staedtler one that I bought decades ago, it runs on two AAA batteries, which I switched to rechargeable because it was tearing through them. I've seen a few inexpensive ones, but they can get up into the $70+ range, so perhaps start with a cheap one to see if it does what you need. Also bear in mind the eraser refills and how they factor in. Problem solving is something that never goes away, each page has its unique challenges and each artist tackles those challenges uniquely. To my mind that's as much part of our individual style as what tools or genres or anything else we use.
@@IntoTheImpossible321sounds good! I’ll start with a cheap ish one and work my way up, thanks so much for the tip! And I agree--one can copy an art style but can’t copy a method which is just as tied to style. I especially agree that how each page is a new set of problems to solve 😂 well said 💯
Heya, just recently found your Channel and love it so far. Such a nice cozy vibe and awesome art!🙈 There is just one small thing i´d like to share/suggest. The Music is (at least for me on Headphones) "way louder" then the rest of the Video, especially when u speak. I have to change the volume a lot while watching.😅
You’re the 2nd person to mention it and I’m trying to figure out why that happens because when I’m editing, I make sure not to change my local volume levels so I can best gauge the volumes of all of the clips + music. Editing footage and audio is not at all in my toolbox of skills, I’m sorry for the annoying experience. I’ll look more into it!
So cozy!! Love the lighting in your early morning drawing sessions. And the page turned out great!!
Thanks so much! Mornings are the best 💛
I love your drawings
Thank you!! ❤️
Wow! Amazing! I love to watch these. It inspires me to work on my art. BTW, what lead and eraser are you using? It seem to come off so easily, I always struggle with erasing my lines and I have yet to find an eraser that I'm happy with here in the States.
Here’s a quick IG reel going over my tools! instagram.com/reel/Cw9EeU_rAgm/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== The eraser is a basic pentel eraser and the pencil is a Pentel twist-erase .7mm mechanical pencil--both are super cheap and erase really nicely ☺️
So much talent, you are really amazing.
Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you, really inspiring, hugs❤️
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching ❤️
I especially love the panel where your character is looking down, allowing us to experience their perspective. It makes sense AND is beautiful. Some may think it´s a "break in perspective", but I love moments like these.
I agree! And yes, I studied history in college and I also write fiction so this project is very dear to me. Thank you for your thoughts and for watching ❤️
Have you also studied medieval time periods? If yes, are there specific periods or events which extra interest you and influence your work?
Great work
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you, it shows your beautiful world, and it's inspiring. Thanks again
So nice of you❤️ thank you for watching
