Plan Build Play
США
Добавлен 8 янв 2020
Hey RUclips welcome to Plan Build Play. I just wanted to setup this channel to show a few of my projects, I am always building something and some of the projects can be a bit random. Hopefully they will give you some interesting project ideas, or just be entertaining. I have also started adding a few tool reviews of things I have picked up to use in the shop. Maybe these will give you an idea if its a tool that might be useful for you, or maybe you just get to see me figuring out how to use something new. I will also add tool and parts used in the videos to help make re-creating these projects yourself easier.

Ryobi Benchtop Drill Press Review
Hey RUclips, I have had this drill for a couple years now but have been using it a lot lately building a custom steel tube patio cover (also a video I have on RUclips) so I thought I would put out this review on how this Ryobi benchtop drill press has been holding up. While it does have a few flaws for its price it works fairly well as an entry level drill press. This model is from a few years ago, maybe 5-6 years, but it looks like the current version that is still available is mostly the same tool with a few cosmetic changes. If you want to take a look the current version the link is below.

DIY Carport/Patio Cover
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.3 года назад
Hey RUclips, This is a project I originally built a couple years ago, unfortunately we got quite a bit of snow this year and with all that weight the steel tubing collapsed. Since I use this space quite a bit for building project, and also for storing my car I figured it was something I should re-build, just with a much stronger design. This patio cover is also custom fit to the spot it is buil...
Snow Melter
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.3 года назад
Hey RUclips - So it just snowed over two feet in the past week and a half, and I wanted to get rid of some of this stuff. The snow drifts and piles where snow has been shoveled are getting up to 5-6 feet deep and we are supposed to get more snow soon. I also have a dog that uses the yard as her bathroom and the snow is up to her head. So, I decided to attempt to make a snow melter, some airport...
DIY Snow Maker Build
Просмотров 17 тыс.3 года назад
Hey RUclips, welcome back to Plan Build Play. In this video I got a bit bored one day and was surprised with how little snow we had that winter so decided to attempt to build a miniature snow maker. These are usually something you see at a ski resort to be able to make snow if there isn't enough to cover the ski/snowboard slopes. Obviously a full sized one would be a bit overkill for my backyar...
Roof collapse from snow
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.3 года назад
Hey RUclips, so... I just had a project fail on me. After 5 years of working without issue through all kinds of storms the canopy cover I build for my patio just collapsed from being buried under 2 feet of snow. I guess I didn't plan on that much when originally designing this. Having this extra work space out of the weather has been really helpful with some projects so it will be re-build, jus...
DIY Solar mount build and install - ground or flat roof install
Просмотров 13 тыс.4 года назад
In this video I built a few solar panel mounts for my workshop. This mount would work for both a flat roof, or installing on the ground. If installing this on the ground it would just need to be staked down, or bolted to a concrete pad to hold it in place. This was built using all 1/8" thick aluminum angle, most was 1" with some parts using 1 1/2" angle. If you are considering this project I wo...
Renogy Wanderer + Powerbright 2.2KW Inverter setup and testing
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.4 года назад
In this video I will go over the setup and test out the off grid solar system I have been using for the last couple months. This system uses 4 100 watt HQSL solar panels, a 2.2 kilowatt Powerbright inverter, and a Renogy 30 amp Wanderer charge controller, as well as 36 car batteries I picked up from a scrap yard. While for me this system was just to test out using solar, then scale up for my wo...
Converting window air conditioner to split AC
Просмотров 38 тыс.4 года назад
Hey there, so its been a bit warm in the shop since I had to remove my air conditioners last fall when I installed a new roof on my shop. I used to have a couple window air conditioners and just cut a hole in the roof and built a box around them to blow the cold air into the shop. Eventually those boxes started to leak so don't want to do that again with my new workshop roof. This time I am con...
AC refrigerant recovery machine - Robinair RG3 setup and testing
Просмотров 14 тыс.4 года назад
Hey there, so I have a few projects Id like to work on in my shop, unfortunately it is hot an uncomfortable out there. I used to have a couple of window AC units on the roof of the shop with a hole cut in the roof to vent the cool air to the shop but that setup would sometimes leak, and would have to be re-waterproofed every couple years. I eventually just had to replace the roof last fall and ...
A/C vacuum and gauges setup and testing - BACOENG Vacuum Pump & Manifold Gauge Set
Просмотров 15 тыс.4 года назад
Hey there, so I picked up this air conditioner vacuum pump and manifold gauge set to do some work on a window air conditioner that uses R410A refrigerant. This will also work for any other project you have that deals with R12, R22, and car air conditioners that use R134a. So its a fairly simple thing to setup, and use if you want to do your own work on an air conditioner. Just a FYI to legally ...
Going Off-grid - Solar setup and testing
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.4 года назад
The goal of this video was really just a quick test of some new panels I picked up, as well as the 12 volt 30 amp Wanderer charge controller, and the inverter. Eventually I would like to get my workshop electricity use completely off-grid, but that will take quite a bit more power generation, and storage. As I continue with that goal I will show each step in the process in future videos. Back t...
EPDM Roofing Install Tips
Просмотров 41 тыс.4 года назад
Last fall I installed a new EPDM rubber roof. It seems like a great product for a flat roof like I have on my workshop but, it was the first time I have worked with it and there was a bit of a learning curve. If this is a project you plan on doing yourself, hopefully this video will point out a few things to watch out for while working with this material, and give you some better results than w...
Raised Bed Garden Build
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.4 года назад
So I just built a couple new garden planters for my yard, and thought I would share with you all the design and build process for them. Putting these together with some steel rod was possibly a bit over kill but at least I know they will last quite a while. Fortunately I had my handy Milwaukee M18 drill and auger drill bit to drill through 18 inches of treated lumber in one pass. If your lookin...
LED Light Upgrade - Florescent fixture ballast removal
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.4 года назад
Hey RUclips viewers. Today I had to change out a few burnt out florescent shop lights and I decided to test out a couple different LED lights to upgrade my shop lighting. I got a couple of the Hyperikon tube lights about three years ago and was really happy with them, so I got a few more and also decided to try out a few other LED options. The Hyperikon do require the ballast of a florescent tu...
DIY Indoor Planter Boxes
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.4 года назад
This winter I started growing a few vegetable plants from seeds indoors, but now they have gotten too big for their small containers. Normally these would just be transplanted outside, but I liked the idea of having them indoors to keep them year round. I don't have a lot of space so these are just going in a storage room, so I am not using the greatest looking materials. You could always upgra...

Cutting open tires - What pressure do they burst
This is great. There's a ton of videos by professionals doing a fantastic job in time-lapse. This is way more use to most of us.
Where does the melted snow water go once the bucket/container is full?
Thanks for posting great video, if you had do do it over would you still use this machine or buy a more powerful one. Looking to purchase my first plasma cutter for home use. Not looking to run a business, just want to cover all situations at home
How come there is no water in your water table. Why did you run out of words and lazy montage your video? That was good acting at the start of the video, do more of that
Thanks for posting.
You should have added a vfd
Good tutorial for those with the skills to handle refrigerant. For others, it would be easier to cut thru wall, build a frame, and install unit with proper caulking. Pro: quick change if unit fails, window units affordable. Con: Renters can't cut hole in wall.
I'm going to attempt this on a smaller scale for my office that I don't want an AC unit in. My only concern with your setup is the condenser being higher than the evaporator and oil return. Has this lasted since you installed it?
Thanks for the video man, 😎
That’s a cool project. A lot of home teardrop camper builders need a 5k btu mini-split like this. Enclosures, blowers, and condensate drains are always a challenge.
Honestly I'm not a fan off EPDM .. but the issue here is poor fitting ! And the fitting starts with the substrate it's fitted too being correct. Then the right application off glue and the membrane being applied at the right time. If you do it yourself after watching online videos and reading manuals honestly how could you ever expect to fit it like a professional would ? 99% of the time it's not the product it's the installer...
Yes, as many have metioned, the key to snow making is a nucleator. Without it, all you have is a fancy skating rink flooder. Its easy enough to make a nucleator nozzle, but you are going to need an air compressor, and not just any old compressor. You need one that can run full time aka 100% duty cycle.
Air Conditioner?
Why not try a roofing supply store 😂😂😂
Classic homeowner’s mistake. When gluing you have to wait a for the glue adhesives to flash off the roof deck and the membrane. Meaning touching it and its sticky but none sticks to the finger. You’re looking at gas bubbles everywhere Glue was not dry enough to roll membrane on roof which creates gas bubbles. FYI so come silicone caulk is chunk! Always use a butyl caulk which is real rubber. Box stores now carry it Quad Caulk.
its funny to see all the people of the "you should have, you could have, why didnt you just, etc etc" crowd come grace the comment sections with their anointed presence. Then i sit back and smile knowing there are so many people out there who can build/fix/create just about anything and get a real enjoyment out of their determination. I wonder why people have this notion that diy'ers are just wasting their time without realizing that wasting their gifts is much more detrimental to society. keep it up diy'ers and never take what any of these people say to heart, because we are the ones they fork over their cash to when they have the inevitable problems of things breaking down. (when they come by my house and see all the things ive fashioned from the mouse door on the side of my house that is a retractable yard irrigation system, to the conveyor belt car storage hideaway enclosure that parks out of sight for me, to the 12 wheeled rolling back hoe wagon, its like a kid in a candy store thats wants to see everything. not realizing that everything they see pretty much came from the curb or someone gave away because of a usual simple fix. having this knack is thumbs up)
this is really nice!
Through a block of dry ice in the coil it hook up a glycol chiller
These repairs are all wrong. Very temporary. For one thing, you can’t let silicon caulking touch EPDM. It eats away at it over time. There is special caulking that’s designed to be used with EPDM. All EPDM tapes MUST be used with EPDM primer or they will just peel off eventually. Where the EPDM goes over the top of the wall and hangs down on the outside, if there’s no metal cap to hold it down then you have to use termination bars attached to the wall with tap cons. Or at the very least attach the EPDM to the outer wall by fully adhering it to the wall using EPDM bonding adhesive, which is basically a glorified contact cement. Still not really right but better than nothing. None of the repairs you did will last for years. That’s a promise.
Silicone caulking won’t eat EPDM, but it will be a bear to remove later.
Just to see how quiet it is
I didn't get to see it operate I want to see it operating
Good job brother.. even though work for new invention.. keep going.. I am from India
Man, making snow!! Building a machine like that takes a lot of snow making knowledgeable. As I type, my yard is turning white from the system I built. Your system is on the right track. But you need to have a water pump that will really move the water at a high rate of speed. Like a pressure washer. The blowing machine, once. I used a 15 gallon drum, a squirrel fan, Polly and spray nozzles from a car wash. And then I use an air compressor and a pressure washer to move my water a lot quicker, to break the water down in the snow when it left the end of the machine.
any leaks in the roof?
Nice video!thanks for the info!
I built a Snowmaker of my own I think you're idea is very creative but you're overthinking it, all you need is a air compressor and a pressure washer into a snow gun. But I like your thinking so far, keep it up and don't give up trying. I think you just need more pressure and maybe to do a different design like a air/water gun and you need a nucliation nozzle to put out a mix of compressed air and pressurized water to freeze and go into the bulk mist and stick together and create snow! keep up your creativity nice job!
…
2 tips #1 get a damn pressure washer run the water line from the pressure washer to your little nozzles! #2 get a damn air compressor! Buy some fittings
Great idea :D
Thanks of great help.
Thanks for that. Why do folk always raise the panels off the deck, base, roof before bolting down ? I've seen that several times before and i don't understand. A 3mm washer between frame and base would allow water to flow. Am i missing something ?
Is 3:19 silicone or cement glue?
What was the black stuff to stop the water going through?
I love when people make custom AC builds
For a dyi and not paying someone...👏 👏 👏 bravo
Does that Bluetooth module record the data even if you're not connected to it with your phone so say like you're gone for a week and you come back and plug your phone into it it'll tell you the data for the previous week
Thanks for sharing . Greatly appreciated!

*We're very happy with the unit. Pretty Easy to instal **Fastly.Cool** too.*
I thought my motor was stalling also using larger bits, come to find out the set screw on the spindle pulley had vibrated loose. Tightened it up and no more problems .
He should’ve told somebody else to do this video I was falling asleep guys very boring with all due respect it was an embarrassment I’m even embarrassed for the guy God bless you out there my brothers and sisters take care Jesus Christ is on his way amen✝️✝️✝️
Why would you use such small panels?
Does this machine require argon gas? Are you still satisfied with your purchase?
I'd love to hear if this is still working and how you like it. Very nice design! (I'd just started studying for my EPA 608 certification yesterday to do similar work on the Midea U window AC)
Hey man if it's at all possible I would like to get ahold of you because I need some help with one of those ac units
I'm guess you are just doing this for the fun of or either you already had all this equipment because you could have just bought a split unit for the price all that equipment cost.
45 minutes jesus. at 15 im getting out the hair dryer/
I am a pilot car driver so I live in my car most of the time. I am in the process of installing a window unit with a 2000 watt gas generator so I can have ac while I sleep without running the car. I had a crazy thought, can you convert a window unit to a mini split? So I typed it into RUclips and your video pops up! Love it! Good work!
With the new refridgerants you dont need a license because they are envoirnment friendly
You try to buy r410 without a license
Both R32 and R410A still have very high GWP
Does it come with the tank
No, the tank is sold separately
Good work. Thanks
