This was probably canceled for the same reason Gotham Knights should have been canceled. Emulating Spider-man's melee combat in a multiplayer setting, especially with more than 2 players is either going to be a performance nightmare due to the amount of additional enemies that need to be on screen, or in the case of Gotham Knights, a damage sponge fest.

I hope Insomniac ends up working with another studio that has some experience in this genre to get this game made, even if we have to wait a decade or so. Insomniac may not have the experience to pull it off alone but with their knack for character development and storytelling I bet they could make a killer game out of this concept if they had the right team/partners.

Yeah, that's what the world needs. More co-op superhero games. I love the Spider-Man games from Insomniac, they're fantastic. And I would NEVER buy this game in a million years. If it's a co-op superhero game, then it's probably some greedy corporate crap. That's basically any game with co-op or multiplayer now that I think about it.

They probably (justifiably) got cold feet about the live-service aspect after the disaster than was Suicide Squad and to a lesser extent Gotham Knights. It could’ve ruined Insomniac’s reputation if they couldn’t pull it off correctly.
