They should just convert all the progress they have into couch co-op so they don’t have to pay for live service for a game that is basically left for dead. Besides, you can see there’s like millions of re-used assets. For a Spider-Verse styled game it’s literally what I just said, an extension of Spider-Man 2 and it’s mechanic’s. All they have to do is add some polishes and remove the amount of players.

Imagine being able to customize your own spider man and their was an animal option so you could be spider cat or spider dog. Or a toon option where cell shade enables and you look like a cartoon. Same with the physics.

Everyone’s meatriding, but I can’t imagine this being fun. It feels like the sort of “XYZ hire this man” idea that makes so much sense on paper that it gets pitched to the developers by every layman from every angle (fans, publishers, investors, etc.) without any thought for how it would actually play. Imagine Arkham Knight, but with a squad of 5 Batmans. It just doesn’t work. I’m sure the devs experimented with the concept, but ultimately found that it just wasn’t any good. It’s a great trailer, but MSM’s gameplay loop just wasn’t designed for multiplayer.

for them to maintain multiplayer maintenance will need to stop certain production and resources on ongoing up coming single player games the same reason they canceled last of us multiplayer sony/psn is more focused on single player exclusive

Maybe it was cancelled it because they were going to make a Live-Service game out of it.
After they saw what happened with S.Squad-KTJL and then thought; "Maybe we shouldn't..."
But that's just my conspiracy theory. Just a wild guess because Jim Ryan stepped down and retired as the President of PS. It's a surprising reveal and extremely rare. Especially during product live cycle. You typically see that when the higher ups there aren't happy with something. Jim Ryan was the guy who was responsible for greenlighting Playstation Initiative to get into, you guessed it;
"The Live Service Space"
None of the studios has said this, nor I have any proof, but it lines up to why these news suddenly came out after Warner Brothers' earnings call was made. Being the skeptical guy I am, I thought there's more to it. So that's why this is here.
Honestly, this wouldn’t be a bad idea for a dlc update for Spiderman 2. Since the game wasn’t designed with mp in mind, this would likely have to be another game mode though.

If this is a spiderman game which you can co op, and each spiderman in this trailer has unique skills (like miles and spiderman have in main games) this is soooo awesome. The fact you can go different dimensions not just the city is cool too. Unless they just doing spiderman again and just different skins -_- pfft. Hope console release.

This is a live service game that we wanted.the other ones u just mentioned are ones nobody asked for.plus players don't hate love service games they just hate bad ones.

I can't believe they cancelled this. Sony must hate money or something. Since Spiderman ps4 I've been dreaming of a co-op Spiderman game where you can play through an entire story mode with your friends. They are just allergic to making good things

I knew everyone wanted this but it wouldnt work it looks like they were forced to shut it down and there is a reason the game will not just have minor glitchs it would have ultra and the game would go off track on the series like how are story missions gonna work they would have to scrap the whole story they made and the name really doesnt sound like a spider man game so guys i think you should be expecting it later on in the future not in spider man 2 but maybe in a game that is focused on multiplayer and online

Hopefully this clears up room for another Miles Morales game with Silk before Spider-Man 3 and they could integrate the multi-player element with her (ik they're doing a Venom game I think but I feel like since there's gonna be way less time devoted to a live service game we could easily get one last PS5 Spider-Man game cause you already know Spider-Man 3 has got to be a Ps6 exclusive whenever it does come around).
