I think Lars and James really didn't know what they had as a bandmate with Jason. Kirk and Jason had a chemistry on stage you could hear as they played off each other. To me, what really anchored Jason for me was the concert where James got injured and Jason filled on vocals and Kenny from Kid Rock stepped up to fill in for Rhythm guitar. Who does that? Really?

Jason possessed a kind of heart and soul for the music that Cliff and Rob, while not lacking in, did not have as much as Jason did. You could see in the way he plays that he's absolutely in love with the music. Metal was in his veins, and he lived it. And while I don't think he was as technically skilled as Cliff or Rob, there's no denying that he brought a lot of power and grit to the band that I hope people never forget.

I love Megadeth more then Metallica but the two players that made me pick up a bass and learn were Cliff & Newsted.
