First off - I don't make these very often so don't hate on the production quality lol. 2" Anderson Design & Fabrication ( ADF ) lift installed on a 2000 Forester with Quick Struts from Rock Auto ( video will explain why this was a bad choice ), Mayhem Wheels and 215/75-15 General Grabbers.

Budget RTT with a Kamp Rite Tent Cot
Просмотров 88 тыс.4 года назад
After watching tons of RTT videos, I decided that I didn't want to spent that much money on something that I wouldn't be using more than a handful of times per year. Saw someone else do this and it works. Great setup for you truck. I chose this because my primary use is overnight accommodations when bass fishing more than an hour from my house.

Dublin Dell Pond Video

First attempt at some fishing video from my newly-acquired GoPro. Experimenting with the camera mount (used the chest mount for this one) at a local pond so that I have the kinks worked out when it's time to land the big fish.
How did you get the 2x6 secure to your truck bed I'm thinking of getting a kemp rite tent thanks for any help great video
no rain fly?wtf
There is a rain fly, just didn’t put it on in the video
Does the bar running down the middle bother u. I bought one these after watching ur video a couple weeks ago and im trying to figure out something for that bar so i can sleep more in the middle. Any ideas or recommendations?
Po9-9😅
A rooftop tent looks like a pain in the back side to climb in and out of. This idea is much better. I want one of those tent cots, is that one you used a 2 person or one person?
It’s the size of a double bed. Just me and my dog but it’s technically two person.
Thanks Eric for the info and set up! Do you need a rain fly over it if raining? and how did you attach your 2x6's or what did you attach them to? Thanks very much. I like your set up. Would be perfect for my F-150. I do not like sleeping on the ground cause of critters. lol
It comes with a rain fly. In my F150, there are pockets sized to hold a 2x6 so no need to secure them. Just drop them in. I’ve got a bed liner that was in the truck when I bought it so if you don’t have one or yours doesn’t have the pockets, you’ll have to improvise some other way
@@Eric66MD Thank you Eric! I have an after market bed liner and tonneau tri-fold cover. I will check and see what options I have with the bed liner, but don't recall any slots on the sides. I can fabricate something though, like I have to do working on my hot rod. Thanks for your replay and quick response sir. Very much appreciated! Cheers from Michigan.
2:53 mark you can see where the slots are on mine
@@Eric66MD Thank you Eric, I can fab something up that will work sir.
I am looking for about your products me a message. When I post this, I am looking for more information no this. Like birthday to get this in her much to see looking one for my little truck
Hi there great video, would you be interested in selling the tent? Thanks
Not bad!
Nice throw a converter in by the back and have access to some power. Like that it gers it just a bit higher than it would be on ground. Throw a tarp over cab and tent and past the tailgate and it's perfect.
Updates?
goodlooking skiff.
Why not just set it up on the ground?
The advantage of being in the truck bed is that it can lay flat under the Tonneau cover when traveling and when set up, the edge of the tent is about chair height, easy to sit on the edge to put shoes on / off. Also, makes it easier for getting in an out. Not for everyone but since I was using it w my boat in tow, it was the fastest setup after a ping day of fishing
hey man i saw that you uploaded a video about changing out your stock SL55 command headunit for an aftermarket one and had an issue with it not putting out sound at first. you fixed it but i couldn't find where you said what the problem was? I'm doing the same install and am stuck at a point where i have everything properly connected but am not getting any sound out of hte headunit, was wondering if you had any ideas? Thanks
I’d like to see if you can get the rain fly properly installed in this setup.
Jens Williamson, III (Deaf) I do not like this idea but I respect your rights. The tent cot is on the ground. It makes sense. Or Just put tent cot in big tent. Be nice! It is up to you. Thanks for your time. Have a great day! Respectfully, Jens C. Williamson, III 😎😷👍🇺🇲 Bexar County 🇨🇱 Retired ID Hearing Impaired The Disability I am so good! I wear green all day. Do you have any rubbing on the bottom part of your struts considering the fact that you are running 215/75?
Why in the back of the truck ? Why not on the ground ?
nice! what size tyres?
Grabber ATX 215-75/15
Wow? Is that what stupid sounds like? Pitch the tent on the ground & then lift it into your truck bed slappy. With the gate down most people position the cot/tent longways!
If you are a fucking retard, keep your comments to yourself
Might try this when I get a truck this is the exact cot tent I have I like it I didn't get a mattress for mine my only complaint for it is when the rainfly is on there's zero airflow and it's very very hot inside during the summer but it was pouring rain when I was camping with it the last time so I couldn't open it up
I’ve been thinking about a way to do a tent without removing my toolbox! Great idea!!
Might buy one for my 10’ Tacoma lol

Mini Solar Tip; You can steplessly dim down a bulge and all other hungry electricity consumers with a 5000W dimmer (7, EUR). I run 5 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. Kettle 2.2KW at 150W runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 200...400W. Iron, dishwasher, oven, electric heater, coffee machine, all internal heating are throttled with me. Videos about it on my channel ruclips.net/video/eC2olbCBhh0/видео.html The inverter stays cool, quiet and the MOSFETs remain intact because extreme current peaks no longer arrive at the inverter. Now every Mini PV Inverter is enough to sell large devices...
Famous last words...."It will be fine...."
Good idea
It's been two years. How has this held up? Do you still use it?
Unfortunately, not that often. It’s quite sturdy though so no complaints

Poorman's overlander??
I’m driving myself crazy trying to figure something out for a Short bed taco with a diamond back cover. I want to be able to access the truck bed. I have been thinking about a panel with legs that would fold out and double the truck bed surface area. As a platform. Hinged on the rail under the diamond back. I’m wondering here though, why go through the trouble of setting a cot bed up on the truck ? Wouldn’t it be the same thing On the ground ?
The only real difference for me is that when it’s sitting on the 2x6s , it sits higher up so it’s easy to sit on the edge to put shoes on and makes it easier getting / out vs when it’s on the ground. Also, since making this initial video, I found a that it lays flat and collapsed on the 2x6s I can just close my tonneau cover and drive off
@@Eric66MD oooh, yeah that makes sense. That is a good set up.
I'm with your pal even if I was rich I couldn't see my self spending $4,000 for a fancy Rooftop tent that cost less than 1,000 to make
I live less than 30 minutes from this quiet park with pond!
Excellent idea? Thank you!
white size is this? single or double?
It’s the Double Cot because I usually bring my dog along
Great set up, how many person can fit in your cot.
It’s a double cot so it’s the side of a double bed. I’d say two people however it’s just me and my dog as I only use it on overnight fishing trips
This is probably what I’m going to go with. I like to go a couple hours away to the lake and go crappie fishing and this will work great for the boat ramp parking lot. I’m tired of sleeping in the front seat! 😂 Come in around 12-1 in the morning, this will be an easy setup and comfortable for me and my son. Thanks for sharing.
Exactly. Since I created this original video I figured out that I can lay it flat on the 2x6's and have my tonneau cover on. When I arrive, I just pop off the cover and set up, a lot faster. Also, the 3" memory foam mattress topper I have in there can stay folded inside if it's a multi-day trip and still can get the Tonneau cover back on
Dude! I’m so doing this! Thanks.
I love this idea
Did you think about putting the cot together first, then lifting it up into the bed and securing it?
Yeah, this was the initial setup. After this. I found that I could just fold the sides in and flip the legs down and it all fit under my Tonnau cover
No rules when it comes to camping bro , excellent idea 🤙
THANK YOU for a very real demo of how this works. I have the same situation - towing a boat, need a fairly quick setup for a night or two.
same but i was dreaming :( i woke up and im poor as shit it sucked
That fits great. Is this the oversize model or the double tent cot?
It’s the double version.
I Use A Klmit Self Inflating Pad And A Very Thick Sleeping Bag For Padding Works Great ------ Very Comfey
Great idea...I saw it on another page and bought the single cot version. It fits just fine on my Santa Cruz which is a much smaller bed space.
Any pictures of that setup online? I'd love to check it out
I'm looking at this thinking, since when do we have freshwater bass in Dublin? Then I realised, this must be some US Town with the same name. Oh well, I'm still satisfied with the excellent sea bass we have.
Thanks for the idea! Is the spread on the inner legs over 48"? Wondering if I couldn't do this in my service body truck, but only have 48" of bed width in it.
Not sure what the distance is between the legs
How do you have the 2 x 6's secured to the bed? I just bought one and have an f-150 as well.
I don't, my bedliner has pockets for them.
Your bed probably has pockets for them to sit in.
@@Eric66MD I got this tent for this purpose as well as ground. Haven’t tried it yet because my Tundra Bedliner doesn’t have the flush pockets. Bummer!
Great Content
LMFAO this is freaking genious.
And thought I was the only one who did this!
