Being a panel beater by trade I’ve found it fun making a wagon’s into Utes on a couple occasions done a few GQ patrols cut and shut style customers found it hard to find rust free ones to cut up one I joined up was for hill climbing machine had a big v8 in it the other one was for a farmer and one more I done was a full roof cut on a Ute because it was rotten in the gutters I found them to be a little thin in the body steel compared with a older style cars like a mustang or old holden good to see a young fella have a go
Do you think you could do a cam swap without taking the whole engine out? What else is involved
@nk0723 its possible, but way easier with the motor out, and id highly recommended doing cam bearings while in there
Beautiful bike, well done.
Hey man do you have a link for that aftermarket bar

Hey mate I have a few questions How did you adjust the idle mixer screw. I’m trying to figure out how to do it but i can’t find much information about it and its driving me up the wall
Fren where to order spair parts of echo 452vl
Hey Travis. Great video mate, really cool projects. I'm curious if the 34ADM Weber is often just referred to as an ADM Weber or are these two different models? Though you might know the answer to that. I also want to put a Weber 34ADM on my TB42 but am seeing a few ADM models and want to know if there is a difference. They look the same minus one may have a pipe sticking out of the throat and one does not.
@seanpepper92 i believe they will be the same just check that the bores are 34 and i think they should be the same
@@TravosGarage Thanks Trav, I managed to get a quality refurbished 34ADM so it's the same as yours. Would you consider the stock jetting in the 34ADM ok to try out if I have an EGT to monitor?
Also Trav, to get all the necessary tune readings real time and just to get a quality tune at home, what other sensors would you extend to if you were running dual fuel? can you please list the sensors you would call well suited to always know the tune and operation is in the safe zone, even if under load or climbing hills for example? e.g. O2 sensor? (I don;'t have yet), EGT (I have two that separate front and rear three cylinders for better problem detection) is anything else advisable for vast information purposes, maybe a water temp guage. I much appreciate your help.
@@seanpepper92 the only gauge that i would recommend is an afr gauge, it will show all you need to know about the state of tune at any given time
@@seanpepper92 egt wont tell you much, stock jetting is a good start to go from though

I love it when you guys that don't have a clue of what you're doing.Get on RUclips and make a video on how to do something when you yourself.Don't know how to f****** do it.Why is that such a thing?Don't you guys realize all you're doing? Is perpetuating the wrong way to do something. If you yourself don't really know what you're doing. Why would you want to make a video about it?That makes no sense in the world at all. What are you thinking man?
this isn't an informative vid. how many times have you done this? and how would you have done it different, interested to know??
Dude you didn't have that front wheel even close to right when you laised it up. It was all kinds of wrong!!!! Not to mention those wheels are gonna be wobbly as f*** considering you didn't put them on a trueing stand and true them up.You can't just lace them up and go man.You gotta make sure they're straight.Didn't anybody show you how to do wheels?Did you just decide you would wing it or what? Don't you think maybe you should have watched a video first or something on how to do it?That bike's gonna wobble like fuck going down the road. Can you tell by looking at that front wheel that it's all laced wrong
HAHA your kidding right? you can see them through a video and just feel they are off? if you didnt notice im wearing different clothes between setting the spokes on and putting rubber on. spent the best part of a day getting them right. no i did not use a truing stand, i scratched gauged them in, which is exactly how a truing stand works... as long as your reference point is stationary to the axle (which i locked in the vice), then you will achieve the exact same results as even the most expensive truing stand. by the end i could sit the rounded end of the axle on the concrete, spin the tire and it would spin there until nearly fully stopped, then fall over due to the rounded end. bike ran straight as an arrow with no shudder. i am a machinist by trade now and have balanced even my own performance cranks and would have done this exactly the same way... thanks for the youtube "expert wisdom" though
I want to get this sound of cam on my stock patrol
Nice old girl 😊
I just got a McCulloch 1-51 on eBay
nice saw! hoping you got a good price on it
@@patrickvigone2334 hi mate, the series of carburettor is stamped on the carby itself
452VL was the first saw I ran at the young age of 11. I now have 3 of them lol. I have the newer version of the 601 which is a 602vl. Heavy saws but they are dead nuts reliable. I have a soft spot for these Japanese saws, they are so well built and I just love how they look. Edit: the 452 is from the late 70s to mid 80s. the 601 is from the early to mid 70s
great saws as long as the ignitions don't fail! that's the only downfall I've ever found on them.
@@TravosGarage as long as they have points ignition they are pretty robust. It’s the “E”VLs that have the most trouble and parts are scarce
She wants to live! sounds great. I run all of my stuff across the board at 40:1 with Echo Red armor oil. I have several vintage saws and have never had any issue with it.
40/1 is fairly close to the 32 i usually run old saws on, these arnt too bad but for the really old pioneers ect that you will see on the channel shortly that are stock 16/1 i feel safer running them on that!
@@TravosGarage yea, I figure oil technology has come a long way. Back when my grandfather was first running saws in the 60s/70s they would just mix up straight SAE 30 at 16:1. I agree some of the older saws, especially ones that don’t have roller rod bearings probably like more oil
Started good for a old girl 😅😊
agreed! i do like these old macs for their robustness.
Hey mate I’m just working on mine would you know what the 3 rods are I understand the big ones a tierod but the rod in front of the tierod that connects to it and the little one to the left I have no clue
Plain 250 didn’t come with the rubber handle grip.
no, but they did come with the handle half wrapped in black plastic.
Привет) подскажи где взять такой карбюратор,,, или подобный… не могу конкретно такой найти
God they sound so good at idle. Any rpm they have a great tone. Alil heavy but its like running the most classic and show off saw

Sweet saw 😊
Hey mate did you update the adapter plate at all and what carb kit did you use?
hi mate havent changed anything as i am heading in a different direction with it now. carb kits are available online on ebay.
Trying to find tge first video you reference regarding cutting out the rust? Not in the playlist?
only 1 vid on the series before this one, itll be on the channel somewhere
Hello mate I just watched the video, and I have a question: is the Weber 34ICH also works for the same car? Thanks a lot
hi mate, honestly im not sure, but if it has the same bolt pattern on the bottom im sure it would
never run when new
runs fine now...
I dont get the judgement in the comments 😂 Im a texas chainsaw massacre fan and I use that same one with no blade to just mess around
Love the video plus great music, what was the chilli peppers track?
thanks mate! and it was the adventures of rain dance maggie :)
I remember those older 2 strokes were loud😮
I can definitely confirm this.. lol
Hey Trav, Awesome video mate. Have given me some hope with the TB42 Shorty! I'm shocked you were even getting 17L per 100km with the stock carb. I'm currently 25L+ per 100km (I try my best to take things slow as possible also). I am thinking of copying what you've done so I can afford to run the car long term. Do you think running a snokel set up with this will work? If I used the airbox from an XF Falcon and rigged it up to my already existing snorkel it should work and still get good fuel economy and performance? Thanks again mate. Been a big relief coming across your video.
thanks mate! snorkel and falcon airbox shouldnt be too much of a restriction and i doubt youd notice much of a difference to be honest. and yes the stock carbs are woeful...
I have got one as well I started to fix and going to finish it tomorrow
great saws the old echos mate! enjoy it!

better to see smoke then none on these older machines! it would be early to mid 1970s

My Dad bought me a new one of them, i was 13, i had to keep it spotless, i used to take the manual to bed every night to study, after a few months i could work on the bike no problem. lots of them parts gave me flash backs hahahaha. , it was a great fun bike, a true classic.
did you end up selling this saw or kept in on the shelves ?
ended up selling mate! have had a few similar ones in since however
Hey Pal, I'm wondering if you have a spare lower cowl for the Super Sport edition. It's like a chin spoiler that is fixed to the bottom front section of the frame. I have the side covers, but cannot find the bottom piece. Can you help me out or know someone who has one ?? Cheers.
Yes ?? No ??
hi mate, i did have one but have since sold it
Thank you, very grateful for the view of what's involved. Currently stripping an old Black top and rebuilding it with bits out of an damaged bitsa Turbo . I will be doing this myself as have a rotating fixture to bolt the block to and a spare pair of hands when needed.
Glad i could help!
Wow!!! Good !!
I’ve heard with the Holley Carbys at a steep angle it will mess up would that happen on this too? Thankyou
this should be much better then the holleys, pretty much good on any angle as long as you are slightly on the throttle, but will stall out at idle
Any one else done this results thanks
Hi mate are jet sizes stock and was their much in way of tuning any tips cheers
hi mate, cant remember my jet sizes as mine wasnt stock to start with, but 250 crossflow jetting should get you pretty close.
