Cartoonist Dave Follows born, Stafford (1941-2003) made the successful transition from amateur cartoonist to professional in 1973 he won several national and international awards, including Humorous Comic Cartoonist of the Year 1983 for Wonder Wellies in Buster Comics, and the Japanese Cartoonist Association Medal 1981. His work has appeared in newspapers, comics, and magazines all over the world, Dave produced thousands upon thousands of original art works with what seemed effortless skill, almost all of Dave's 30-year output, from originals to scrapbook press cuttings, still exists today, and its popularity remains as strong as ever.

17 years down the pits round the potteries, I can agree with you - the old ones have died out and the dialect largely gone with them. When I came to the potteries In 1970, I had to learn a whole new language burrah cud towk rate by th end on it ;<)

When my parents had the sentinel I used to love reading the may un mar lady strips!! I had to translate them for my aunty, she couldnt read them even tho she too is from stoke
