    • @UtahMushroomHunter
      @UtahMushroomHunter Месяц назад

      Yes, that was my first stop looking for mushrooms. I crossed the boarder briefly to search that area before I headed down into the heart of Oregon. To be clear, there is not anything special about Carson in terms of mushrooms. That area was fantastic, but you could find them just about anywhere in the area. I think I found fun mushrooms at every stop I made in the Carson area and also throughout Oregon, except for my last stop on the east side of the cascades. But yes, Carson Wa area. What I did is I looked for heavily wooded areas, and then I would drive up old forest roads. But also found them right off main roads in the forest.

      Thank you Bryton. I appreciate you jumping on to comment on that! I did a little research on it, and it is an edible (allergic to some people), and it was moved out of the Chanterelle family and is now called Gomphus Clavatus (scientific name). Yeah, I have Zero interest in eating Amanita Muscaria!! And I don't want to encourage anyone to eat them. First off because they are technically illegal to possess in many (if not most) states! And they can kill you if you eat too much. They are a psychedelic that can give you a very very bad trip as well if you are not careful, and I don't wish that on anyone. So if anyone does try it, I want to be clear that they do it at their own risk!! They have to be prepared very carefully to be eaten as a culinary mushroom, and it is certainly more work than I am willing to do!! Especially with so many wonderful edibles I find that are choice edibles, and can be eaten without processing!! I find way more choice edibles than I can eat as it is!! Honestly, they are not worth it in my opinion!! I leave them alone! Thank you Carey for your response. For those of you that do use them, I certainly don't judge them!! That is what is beautiful about this life!! We all get to make our own decisions!!

    • @UtahMushroomHunter
      @UtahMushroomHunter 3 месяца назад

      Hello Shandon. What elevation were you at? The key is to get at about 9,000 ft and above in heavily wooded areas that is flat to north facing. At least a couple weeks to three weeks of good precipitation is needed as well to get them to pop. You can find them lower than 9,000 ft, especially the Boletus Barrowsii, but your chances of finding them increase significantly (at least here in Utah) once you get to 9,000 ft and above.

    • @shandonbradfordoutdoors
      @shandonbradfordoutdoors 3 месяца назад

      @@UtahMushroomHunter Around 9,000 to 10,000 feet. I just need to go out and explore more. Just a bit hard with school and work😂. I was mainly on a east facing slope though. Can you explain to me the importance of a north facing slope?

    • @UtahMushroomHunter
      @UtahMushroomHunter 3 месяца назад

      You bet. North facing slopes hold the most moisture because of the sun's angle to the ground. Therefore we find the most mushrooms on north facing slopes. But I have done very well on north East slopes as well. If there has been enough consistent rain and all slopes are consistently staying moist, then you will find them on all slopes. It is all about moisture retention. This year we didn't have near as much consistent moisture during our summer as last year. Last year I found them all over the mountains. But this year I did have to focus on flat to North or North East slopes, especially to find the Kings.

    Can you find these in southern Utah. Dixie forest

    • @UtahMushroomHunter
      @UtahMushroomHunter 3 месяца назад

      Yes, for sure, but you have to get into the higher elevations. The Dixie forest is a great place to look. Just be sure you hunt in areas at or above 9,000 Ft in elevation, heavily wooded flat to north facing slopes, and after two to three weeks of consistent precipitation. All three elements are key!! What I do is I watch the weather forcasts on a daily basis and I pay attention to which mountains are getting the most rain. That will help you a ton. Another great area to look in southern Utah is Boulder Mtn, or any of those ranges that is heavily wooded and accessable above 9,000 ft. We are getting late in the year now though.

    We would like to thank the Utah mushroom society for IGNORING us, not responding and being basic arrogant JERKS... as we went off into the mountains and have found amazing amounts of Bolete's of all types, not to mention milky caps.. and since we do it alone we will NEVER be sharing our locations :) and NO we do not need you to help us identify anything..

      YES I would add picture of all of our Pickled, boiled and de-hydrated Mushrooms if I could :)...
