Hey Megan! My biggest problem is that I don’t know how to deal with doubts. One medical label stuck with me, it’s binocular vision dysfunction, I’ve tried wearing special, prism glasses for that for a year (10 different pair of lenses), couldn’t adjust to any of those, made my symptoms and derealization worse. When I stop wearing them the fear starts to play in my head:”what if it’s really your eyes? This method won’t help you if it’s totally physical!” So now I get really sad and frustrated every time I feel like my eyes doing some weird stuff (which can be from pppd alone, I know). That’s when calmness goes out of the window, it’s the doubt, the fear of going in the wrong way so I’m going back and force and getting nowhere.
I totally understand! It’s really hard to get out of that headspace. That’s one of the hurdles we have to overcome in order to recover, and I would be happy to help you! Inside of my community space you will find all of the support that you need plus exactly how to recover 🤍
Hi, I've been struggling with MdDS for 8 months. It developed following a vestibular neuronitis. I am symptom-free with passive movement in a car or on a bicycle. Benzodiazepines help. I started the antidepressant venlafaxine two weeks ago, and my doctor said it would make me feel better. But right now, I feel so dizzy and constantly have a sense of falling that I can't even get out of bed. Side effect... Thank you for the video. My doctor says I need to hang on because the antidepressant only starts showing positive effects after 3-6 weeks. This illness has ruined my life. I'm 22 years old :)

I have been struggling with PPPD / ocular migraine for 20 years last year my pppd got way worse, maybe was triggered because of a vestibular/ocular migraine repetition over time which created a hyper sensitivity to the vestibular system i will share my experience hopefully it helps some of you : Initially i tried getting help with a chiropractic but after a few hours and the next day the trigger points where he pressed made me feel a lot worse to a point where the next day i couldnt even walk without losing balance, so that did not help even tho i did a few sessions. I later tried vestibular physiotherapy for 5-6 month that consist of a combinations of exercice i fully commited to do them and there was no improvement at all. What i noticed is more muscles tension from exercices = more inflammation = more symptoms of dizzness and vertigo. Along side in the period of my chiro and vestibular physio treatment i started talking anti inflammatory supplements and magnesium supplement i tried magnesium oxide for 2 month magnesium glycinate for 5 month 2 differents brands and magnesium theronate and i can tell you from my experience none of these helped me i was having so much problems with my gut health : bloating Nausea, lot of burping, brain fog due to these supplement. What i learned is take care of your gut health: eliminate all the food that make you feel uncomfortable and the ones you can not tolerate it will help you a lot with your brain fog, dizzness and vertigio associated with pppd or migraines During the journey i wanted to mention i also tried going to osteopath which i also did not benefit and at all : more muscle tension after treatement more inflammation more symptoms more vertigo I was also recommended to try acupuncture which led to the same previous results but was effective in helping with muscle tension Overall what really helped me the most is taking care of my gut health and obviously there is a gut brain axis connection linked with PPPD I also wanted to add the big importance of good continuous non interrupted sleep that have a big role in brain regeneration and neurotransmitters good functioning which are responsable of many roles including troubles with balance and vertigo.. i can say that im about 60 to 70% better with my symptoms my tolerance in big visual stimuli stores is better, driving is better, watching action movie which use to trigger my symptoms is better but i still have some symptoms present at a low-mid level I hope you all find this helpful and that your journey to recover gets better, do not lose hope, try what you are comfortable with go step by step but it is possible to get better. I wish you all the best !!!
Thanks Megan! I wanted to ask you are you still taking Mg supplements ,In your video earlier you mentioned it helped you. Thanks again!
Yes I do still take magnesium, but it didn’t help take the dizziness away. It mainly helped my body just to function optimally through all of the stress!
@@Megan_Jenniferthanks👍
Good on you Megan!
I was diagnosed this many years ago, and never could get a chance to follow up on it. I just got it re-triggered by the initial cause of it many years ago. When I was on an elevator over the weekend, it has this extreme "bounce" when it arrives at some floors. It's like my brain "Records" this sensation and "replays it" until I'm sick. Ironically it wasn't the 4 flights per week that did it, but the elevators. It is like this for about 1-2 weeks after, then I'm good. I'm sure there are other triggers that have more mild symptoms, but this is crazy.
@@bddaawwgg I’m so sorry😥 I know the feeling very well! But it’s really important that you tried to lower the anxiety of these sensations, and reframe the narrative around them! Can you allow them to just be a brain error ?
@@Megan_Jennifer I don't think it's anxiety. I can literally FEEL the elevator in that last big "bounce". Not ALL elevators too! I've also noticed that I have an uncanny sense of detecting just the most minor vibrations. Here's a funny story. On the first day in the hotel on 9/20, there was this woman that said to my kid " I don't like elevators either." I laughed a bit and said so do I. We got to talking and she told me a story of a time when she was at Disney and was literally the first person to feel an earthquake. I laughed a bit and said I feel like I would be the same because if I'm walking on a floor say in a mall, I can feel every single footstep! Same thing with her. I literally have never met anyone else with the same sensation as me!
@@bddaawwggno I didn’t mean it’s caused by anxiety! But lowering the anxiety of the symptoms is important so our brain doesn’t give them so much power. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, but you’re not broken !!
Hi im wondering what was the trigger for your dizziness from the very start?
There was no definite trigger. It was more of a slow buildup of stress over a few months!
Before i think i had Vertigo but i don't feel like everything around me is spinning my symptoms is swaying rocking like i sit on boat so i think i had MdDS.

@@Megan_Jennifer thank you. Did you also had any difficulty in digestion?
For anyone reading this, i got it for 2 weeks after using the elevator. It stopped at the wrong floor and i anxiously hurried out and got back in, which I presume, caused the imbalance I endured for a good few painful days. Hey Megan, I saw your recovery video around April or May 2023. At that time I just found Dr Yo and I was 6 months in with PPPD and MdDS. Your story was so close to mine, albeit I am 54 years old, but the symptoms were near identical. You gave me hope in such a bleak time. Back then I could hardly leave my house. Since then I am pretty much back to doing everything without the fear, I've even taken three interstate trips by plane. However, right now I have hit a plateau, it seems nothing is improving and just staying the same. I am not in fear of my symptoms, Im in fear they wont go. Thank you Megan for all your encouraging videos! I have been recently diagnosed with pppd and I have been dealing with it since this February. I have a couple of questions. One is related to point 6: I also have the feeling that my swaying kind of comes from my heartbeat and I notice that if I am totally still in upright position, my head concretely moves slightly back and forth. This was more visible a couple of months ago when my symptoms were skyrocketing and my mum confirmed me seeing my head moving that way if watching carefully. I was also wondering: do you suggest doing CBT/getting anxiety support from whatever psycologist/therapist or better with someone who knows about this stuff? I did like 5 sessions with a psycologist when I was in total crisis with the symptoms (and I cannot really tell if the slight improvement I saw was also due to her), but now that I got the diagnosis I met a cbt therapist that knows about pppd and I could maybe re-start with her. Does it make more sense?
I think you should go with whatever therapist, coach or professional who resonates with you and what you need! ☺️ I had my own experiences with CBT, and they were not positive, but she had no idea what I was going through !
Sorry I have just realised that I did not post my first question, but just wrote about the symptom😅 I was wondering, if the head movement back and forth was real and not only "internal" for you, as well? I am asking because if the symptoms are perceived, they should not be actually visible by other people. Hope I could explain my doubt 😊
