DAY IN THE LIFE WORK FROM HOME STUDENT MOM / / REALISTIC DAY IN THE LIFE SCHOOL, WORK & KIDS
You’re amazing and you’re going to to be a wonderful nurse!! So freaking proud of you!!!
Hey gurl, I will say this: Nursing school only gets harder. If you are still currently working, I would stop and try to take out loans. Especially towards the end. You will have so many assignments, tests, and clinials that working is just not really possible if you want to pass with a good GPA. Then you have study and be ready for NCLEX. Just try not to work is the best advice.
noooooo don’t say don’t get a job when in nursing school 😂 i m looking for a part time right now! about to start 3rd semester. anyways, you go girl! Cs get degrees and all that.
Omg yes. I’m in fundamentals one and in an accelerated ADN program and this teacher is killing me. She doesn’t teach. Just reads word for word from. PowerPoint. I’m like huh 🤔 so self teaching is happening over here. Yay. Made a 87 on my first lecture exam. Can’t make under a 80 to pass the courses. Girl I’m so stressed. 😫
Ooo i miss crumble. I used to live in AZ! 😢
I feel like Crumbl cookies can quite literally solve most of my problems! At least temporarily 🤣
I have the same dream too vickie! Dont feel inferior to other people, you are great! All the best to you! I start RN program in 1 month! 😊
You are so sweet for saying that. Thank you so much! Good luck in your program. You're going to do amazing!
I have several stethoscopes from working as an MA for a long time. I leave them in my purse and bag and thwy are very resilient. Littman are great, Mdf brand are really good too and cheaper.
I feel like that would be the most convenient honestly lol I'm sure one day I'm going to throw it in my bag not in the case & I'll never go back 😂
I'm 48 and I'm thinking about going to nursing school myself. I'll probably be the oldest one in class but I'm willing.
I'm 47 and about to start a full-time degree course in Mental Health Nursing. I hope there are a few other students closer to our age lol
Love this attitude! If nursing is something you want to do, I say go for it girlfriend!
I have several Stanley’s and I don’t plan on using them for nursing school
I'm still a Hydroflask girly all the way! Lol
Love your videos!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying them!
I start my CEP nursing program this fall 2024. Thank you for sharing. I am so blessed that my husband will be helping with the little ones. I worked full time during pre-nursing while he was a full time student. So stressed and scared and excited for this overwhelming journey
You got this girlfriend! It is difficult but definitely manageable. I recommend leaving to study whenever you can. Being a year into my CEP program, studying while my kids are home is almost impossible. Good luck!
Please keep posting I love your videos! So motivating to watch ❤
I will do my best! New videos are coming soon! Thank you for watching!
Just know that the second you set foot on your first job the only time school is brought up is to vent and complain. No one is comparing grades or talking about how many times it took to get a skill or class. You all start the same and grow together 🩷
Thank you so much for saying this! Knowing most of what we talk about in class isn't going to apply in the actual job makes it so frustrating but we all gotta get through it! Thank you again! ❤️
I just stumbled on this video and I want to tell you it'll be ok. You only "fail" if you give up or quit! I'm a Registered Nurse, newly graduated, and I failed a whole Med Surg class. I watched my entire friend group pass and walk to stage, take their NCLEX and it really felt like I had failed, but I kept going. Here I am, almost a year later working at a RN myself! You are your worst critic, keep in mind your end goal, it'll be worth it in the end. Nursing school sucks, but one day you'll be looking 'back' on it!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate you! One of my friends didn't pass this block & struggling feeling like we're leaving her behind but you're right one day it will be in the rearview mirror. Good for you girlfriend! I hope you're loving working as an RN!
You’re so awesome, dude. *Kris Jenner voice*: you’re doing amazing sweetie!!!!
I LOVE YOU FRIEND! ❤️ Let's take a spooky season TJ Maxx trip soon lol
New subscriber here, I really enjoy just listening to you. We all somehow relate to something and need that support. Stay strong❤
thank you for subscribing! so glad you're here! 💕
You will do great as a nurse. Push thru the schooling one day at a time. Do your best because you are GOING TO BE A NURSE! At the end of this endeavor, you WILL be a nurse. Period. Don’t break.
hell yeah. thank you so much! needed this today honestly.
I disagree about the clipboard. I used mine a ton for taking report.
i'm glad it works well for you! a lot of people use it & love it so probably just me being the oddball lol
go Vickie ! 🎉
THANK YOU FRIEND 🩷
Hi
Hi Vickie.
I just turned in the traditional RN application and plan to turn in my CEP application in May before the end of enrollment. I have a 2 year old and I work so this give me hop that I can do it too! I am also in Arizona. So can't wait to see your journey!
Good for you sister! It is not easy but I know you can do it! Good luck to you on your journey.
Where did you find was the best place to apply for scholarships?
Arizona Community Foundation was where I had the most luck. I am located in Arizona, but from my research most states have a _____ Community Foundation where you can apply for scholarships.
I'm sure u are really busy with school and work but I'm looking forward to your next video ❤
thank you so much for your support! I am finding my groove finally so hoping I can be more consistent with my uploads.
Hey there! Just wanted to let you know the circumstances of one of your newer subscribers. I am male 61 years old currently and over the road truck driver after a 30 year corporate career long story short I have been a volunteer EMT in the past and decided it was time to do something really meaningful. I took all my prerequisites while driving the truck all over the country. I am applying to schools in Boston and Baltimore. I start a ABSN program summer of 24. Looking forward to following your journey to prepare me for mine.
Hey Todd! I love that! I completely relate to you regarding wanting to make a shift towards a more meaningful career. That's what lead me to nursing. I'm so excited for you & your journey. I'm hoping to get more consistent with my uploads here soon. Thanks for your support!
Heavy on the FIRST ONE!
I 100% agree with you !!! 😃 We don’t need so many things !!
Awesome!!!! Thank you for sharing !!
thank you for watching!
I am so excited for you .I cant wait to start nursing school as well💕
good luck on your journey sister & thank you for your support!
Omg! 🎉 That's awesome!! So happy for you!! Looking forward to your video about how, when and where to apply! You're a rockstar girl! 😊
Thank you for being patient! Block one is taking me longer to get settled in to than I anticipated! I will get it posted as soon as I can.
🩺 Girl!! You are amazing! We have a lot in common 😂 Keep going and crushing it! I love watching your journey! I'm also a mom of 2, dog mom of 2, wife, full time caregiver and working my way through nursing school. That anxiety is real! Lol Its not easy! You got this friend!! ❤️
Omg gril you've got two dogs too! Bless your soul that is so much! You are absolutely killin it I'm sure! Sending you all the positive vibes & good luck on your journey!
*kris Jenner voice* you’re doing amazing sweetie!!! 🫶
I am curious in what is the passing score on exam, quizzes and assignments in your cohort?
Passing score in my cohort is a minimum of 76%. So we have to earn a minimum of 76% on all of our proctored exams in order to pass the block.
@@vickiejayy4114 that makes me feel better. I've seen a video of a nursing student on TikTok that she got kicked out of the class and needs to retake it again that’s why she was 3 months behind her graduation because she got a score of 95 and not 100.😬sounds like so high expectations. I'm glad in reality the passing score is very much attainable.
Are you kidding me!!!! You are doing great!!! It’s so super scary to start learning how to be a PCA/CNA and your in nursing school. Don’t let that nurse fool you..she was probably a nervous wreck her first day too. I was a CNA for 7 years before I was a LPN for 11 years and now I’m going back to school for my RN. I’m so nervous even with all that experience. You are encouraging me that we all start somewhere and it’s ok to feel overwhelmed. At least we are doing and bettering our families lives. The mom guilt for sure is so hard… try to remind yourself in those hard times how worth it, it all will be. I try to picture for example … paying my son’s tuition in full and not thinking twice vs working 6 days a week to pay it off. Just little motivations or “when I’m an RN I can work 3 12’s and be done for the week! Loooove watching your journey! You helping me so much!
Omg thank you for your kind words. Yes exactly I agree it is all to better our families lives! It's so easy to get caught up in our own heads, and think we're damaging them or they're gonna remember this one day forever but it's not likely lol I'm so glad I can be of any help at all & I'm wishing you tons of success on your journey! <3
Honestly that nurse was just being rude. In no way should you be pushed into doing anything youre not trained to do that is why you are training its for your safety as well as the patient
Agreed, thank you so much. It's gotten a lot better & luckily I have not been placed with that nurse again. I let my preceptor know what happened, and she took it to management.
We shared emotions recently! Only I’m overwhelmed with human pathophys! We really should just get coffee and hash it out 😂😂
Patho was a difficult class for me too! I always looked up youtube videos to break down the disease process so it was easier to understand! I haven't had time to do much of anything these days but during break maybe we can?!
The database for the compliance is so horrifically lame. Add the people that you have to work with… bleck! It’s such a pain haha
Right! Getting compliant was the most tedious thing ever but we did it! Lol
Killing it!!! 😤
Agree with the clipboard during clinical. When you’re working as a nurse and taking report on 6-7 patients I’d recommend some form of clipboard to write on and then fold up the paper with your report on it. Also some things I’d add that were always helpful. On your name badge get a sharpie mini with the key ring on it to clip to your badge for initialing dressings and iv tubing. I used mine constantly.
Thank you so much for all the tips! That is so helpful I need to get myself a mini sharpie for sure! Thank you for watching! 😀
congrats!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! 😃
Can you post what scholarships you applied for?
Yes I will! I am working on that video now. It should be posted in the next few weeks! :)
WOOOO!!!! So flippin stoked for you! 🎉🤗🥳
THANK YOU FRIEND ❤
Wow that’s amazing, congratulations to you!!!!🎉🎉. Do you mind sharing various places you applied for scholarships? I start next spring and would love to apply for even a tiny bit of help. Thanks and loving your channel!
Yes of course I can! Let me do some research because honestly I kind of just went into a black hole one night on the couch & kept applying to whatever I could find but I will go back through & find the best places to apply! & Thank you so much! ❤
@@vickiejayy4114 you’re very welcome and thank you!!
Hell yea girl!! If you don’t mind me asking, what apps did your husband mean filled out? I would love to look into this for my nursing program I am starting in January ❤ love your video girl!! Keep them coming. Your the most relatable to me being we are both moms of two and wife’s.
I am working on a video now about scholarships! Where I applied, what websites, all that jazz! It's gonna take me at least a week to back track BUT I promise I will get it done! & thank you for saying that! Being relatable to others moms is my goal! Lol
Dang! Program paid for! Strong work on those apps!
Yes I'm so excited!! Thank you so much I appreciate you!
I just found your channel and followed instantly!! Also a mom starting nursing school and want to document the process as well!! Good luck to you and wish you nothing but success!!! ❤
yes girl do it! Wishing you happiness & success as well! You got this momma!
I AM LOVING YOUR VIDEOS NOW 😭😭❤️❤️
WELCOME TO THE FAM GIRL! Lol so happy you're here! Thank you so much for watching! ❤
Girl. Out of all the nursing preparation videos this one was worth the most. I have all of the same feelings you do and thank you so much for giving me ways to navigate through those ❤
That means so much to me honestly thank you for saying that! I'm glad we aren't alone in our feelings & thank you for watching & not judging! ❤
if anyone is looking for a good clinical shoe if your school doesn’t allow clogs i recommend the Sketchers D’lites. ik they’re kinda grandma shoes but there’s a reason- they’re so comfy. i’ve injured my back and knees and also have flat feet, but these don’t even hurt my feet after a 12 hour shift. game changer also i personally think a separate clinical bag is great if you are anxiety prone and forgetful. switching bags makes me feel like i’m always forgetting to put my clinical stuff in my bag and i commute 1.5 hours to my clinical site so turning around isn’t an option. personal pref ofc tho!
I will definitely look at those! If people call them grandma shoes they're probably 10/10 for nursing 😂 Yes absolutely! Whatever works best for you girl! 1.5 hour commute I would probably keep a suitcase in the car with me just in case lol
