PINNEKJØTT - Traditional Norwegian Christmas Dinner
it looks good.
2nd Christmas day? When's that?
Did you mean Celsius for the oven temperature? 60° Fahrenheit probably isn't even as warm as the room temperature in the kitchen. I know it's not good to overcook lutefisk, but 180° Fahrenheit also seems too low to finish the cooking process.
180C is enough...sometimes if you let it cook too long it becomes so soft and becomes almost soupy..
Thank you for sharing.
thank you for dropping by 🙏😊❤️

its an airfryer. highly recommend having one...its the most use equipment in my kitchen. 😉🙏
Beautiful recipe, video and hygge ! PS, that was not corn starch, actually mostly rice starch.
its cornstarch but not the usual variety that you dilute in water... 😉 we have 2 types we can buy from the shop here... 😁

Lutefisk in the old days You take stockfish, or clipfish. 1 kilo of stockfish gives about 5 kilos of lutefisk. Divide and wash the fish. It should be in water for 8 days. you change the water at least twice a day. After this you take and peel off the fish skin. Take 2 liters of ash from birch wood, 7 liters of water. bring to the boil, stir. let it stand until it is cold. Strain this through a cloth, and you will get a clear and clean lye. This way gives the best lutefisk. Or take 35 grams of caustic soda, mix this with 7 liters of water Put the fish in a tub, pour over the lye, leave it until the fish is suitably soft. (circa 2 days) You should easily stick your finger through the fish. Put the fish in clean water for 2 days, change water twice a day Now the lute fish is finished. It may be easier to go to the store.
hi, thank you for the tip. But i dont think i'd make this from scratch, too much work. took me almost 15 years before i started eating and liking this dish. So, i think making it and smelling the lye would be too much... 😜🙏
I suggest that you skin the tongue first.
Good idea!
Isnt it you’re supposed to remove the skin first
You could do that, yes! Thank you po.
Nå ble jeg sulten😊😊
beklager, snart påsken..og det blir pinnekjøtt servering igjen. ;-)
Did the exact same thing but the meat did not fall off the bone...it dried out too much. So I do not recommend slow cooking as was done here with the Instant Pot. Steaming instead would be better and then using the grill shortly for a crispy touch...
it was slowly cooked, with low pressure. I do grill my pinnekjøtt after cooking every now and then. ;-) thank you !
Such a small world.. hi Michelle ;)
I know right... kita kits minsan...😉🙏🏽
Det er fantastisk salad! Healthy food ;)
Yes, indeed po! Love eggplants.. 😉
I missed night out
Next time...are there any other members who is from our area? 😮
Yummylicious!!! Kanin pls ;)
Yes, every now and then they have fried chicken & roast beef in their buffet.. 😉
Sarap naman nyan ate
Salamat po ! Easy lang..can be eaten as is.. 🙏🏽
That looks great!
thank you! wish you had a wonderful christmas holiday! 🙏
Very well done. I think I need some of that stuff. I am used to put the pinnekjøtt in a pan in the oven with grill heating on for a moment in order to make a more crisp surface of the meat ... you can also use a frying pan.
i do that at the end of my cooking ... right before serving.. 😉❤️🙏😍
I'll add some more about Swedes, which is what was eaten before the arrival of the potato, in Europe in the 1500's from Peru or Chile. The Swedes are a hybrid developed in the north, thus the name. They were called turnips but a turnip, in the US is an amazingly delicious vegetable which is fantastic mashed and I grew many this year because of the virus. Perfect in soups and I've many frozen. I even have some that are in my garden now that are bigger than my head so that I can eat the greens, also delicious. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turnip Swedes have also been called Turnips but they are not the same! eatnorth.com/katelyn-marchyshyn/cooking-fundamental-difference-between-rutabagas-and-turnips www.bbcgoodfood.com/glossary/kohlrabi-glossary (I should tell you that I have a degree in Plant Science). I hope this helps, my friend!
thanks for the info.
they are not dwares :-) they are Nisser (original norwegian creatures that in tales used to protect the farms, so it was a tradition to feed them at christmas to ensure you favored their protection). Nisse is also the norwegian word used for Santa Claus (Jule Nissen), but they small dwarflike creatures are what we call Nisser in ancient storytelling :-)
thank you for the clarifications! God Jul! 🎊🍾🎉🙏
I guess I'm kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new series online?
@Kade Dane Lately I have been using FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
@Jaden Conrad definitely, I have been using FlixZone for since april myself =)
@Jaden Conrad Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it !
Really great video!
thank you and have a nice holidays!
exquisite English BTW.
thank you and have a happy holiday! 🎉🎊🙏
Swedes are Rutabagas, not Kohlrabi.
thank you for the clarification! 🙏
Its kålrabi or kålrot in norwegian.
@@TheBaardis but she was speaking English aaaannnnndddd, well, I said what it was in English.
@@TheBaardis check out my other comment in this thread for more clarification
Alexis i never argued with you about the name of this vegetable so i have no idea why you answer me. I just said what its called in norwegian. Tread or no tread.
Det ser väldigt gott ut ,kanske peppar rot till för att höja upp smaken,
tusen takk! Ikke så glad i pepperot men kan prøve dette neste gang :-)
Good video...very informative
thank you and have a happy holiday! 🙏🍾
Oh, man..😭 I'm rewatching this and looking forward to when we can make pop-ups again ✌❤✌
yeah i know. had pop-up plans last year...all cancelled... :-(
You didn’t peel the tongue. The white outer skin has to be removed before browning.
thank you for the tip. :-)
