LEGO Carnival Fantasy - Carnival’s First Beloved Colossus
In this episode, we will look at the history and life of one of Carnival Cruise Line's early pioneers: Carnival Fantasy. While she is a fairly dated vessel when compared to today's standards, at the time of her launch she was state of the art. Not only that, but she was the first new major cruise ship to operate on 3 and 4 day itineraries right from the start. Because of this, along with other factors, she was often the first cruise ship many hundreds of thousands of people every got to go on.
The LEGO build itself actually took a lot longer than expected, and it was especially difficult finding decent reference material for how she looked in her early years. I hope this video will make yo...

LEGO Pride of America - The Cruise Ship That Refused to Perish
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.3 месяца назад
Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America is one of the most interesting ships yet tackled on The Brick Executive Channel. Most just see her as an old, small, and awkward looking ship that doesn't deserve to exist. One must look beyond this common surface level criticism to truly understand why she is something different (in a good way). In fact, she almost never made it on many occasions. In th...

For many, Norwegian Epic is simply the awkward ugly duckling of the modern cruise ship industry. But there is so much more to her story than just the outward appearance. In this video, you will learn about why she came into existence and what NCL had in mind when designing her. She is a fine example of what can happen when something comes out that tries to change or revolutionize the way someth...

The ship that started it all for me; Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas was the first ever passenger ship I had ever been on. She was and is quite a vessel, and she allowed me to experience and see so much of what I had always wanted to see for most of my life. Beyond that, she is the final and smallest member of the Quantum Class. In this video, you will not only get to see a large LEGO mod...

Today, we will be looking at one of many ocean liners that unfortunately never came to fruition. But unlike other canceled liners, this one was very much viable and was so close to being a reality. Interestingly, had Carnival kept on with the old naming convention of "ale" suffixes we could have seen ships with names like: Magicale Musicale Nauticale Sensationale Orientale Fantasticale But given the fleet has grown so much to this day with new ships on order, finding names/words that ends with "al" in English and add an "e" to sound "Frenchy" would be challenging.

    Very sentimental video. Amazing as always. My parents sailed on the Ecstasy in January 2014 from Miami, a 5-day Western Caribbean cruise. They enjoyed it. :D 27:08 Uh, Viking Ocean cruises has a massive order since 2015 and still growing. as of today they have ten ships in service and ten more are coming up! They already surpassed the 8-ship Fantasy class.

      Yes, I do have some non-LEGO bricks but vast majority of my bricks are LEGO. If you’re interested in knowing why about 20% of my bricks are not LEGO (as of today) go to my LEGO Icon of the Seas Episode 1 video at 12:30 and you’ll find out why. I’m sorry this bothers you but I would ask that you please watch that part of the video (it’s just a couple of minutes) before continuing with this accusation. I spent about $2100 dollars from LEGO just getting the necessary colors for this ship alone.

    Excellent video! What a unique topic to talk about almost failed ships. Excellent build also. Makes me want to build one too. You are very dedicated and very detailed. In your video did you photo shop that photo of the PoAm with the Napali Cliffs in the background? I noticed no photo credits for that particular photo. That exact photo, which I got from the photographer in the helicopter, is in my study but it is the PoAloha in the foreground. The clouds and the waterfall are exactly the same. I'm just curious. I was there when the America was re-floated in Bremerhaven and then I was transferred to the Norwegian Sky which then became the PoAloha. Once the Aloha was situated and cruising the islands it was back to the America to depart Lloydwerft on her maiden voyage to the US. We were on one of the sea trials returning to the yard as the Norway was departing under tow. Once the America was also up and running in Hawaii I was transferred to Papenburg's Meyerwerft to complete the PoHawaii build and also bring her to Hawaii. I continued to stay with the Hawaii but after the PoA & the PoH became the Sky (again) and the Jade it was back to the America for me. As 3/Officer on both the Independence and the Patriot prior to NCLA we, as the crew, had a different understanding as to the reason for the bankruptcy. A lot of 'gossip' trickled down from the corporate office long before 9/11. However 9/11 was a good reason to request a bailout from congress and likely a significant factor too but we were always fully booked as usual and into the future. Your next video and LEGO build could be of the Cape May Light and the Cape Cod Light. These ships were also built/being built just prior to 9/11 for American Classic Voyages and although they survived the bankruptcy their history is not as glamorous nor fortunate. Your video will be going viral amongst former and current crew. In fact it was passed on to me by a former Captain who was also on all three ships. Good job again on the hard work you put into this movie and the LEGO masterpiece. Aloha.

      Thank you so much! I hope it was a halfway decent video! I am definitely honored that the video is making its way around to former crewmembers! With regards to the state of American Classic Voyages, there wasn't a ton of information I could find other than 9/11 was the final straw for them. I could tell that there was additional things based on what I was able to find but it was never anything concrete so I just didn't put it in the video. You must have such a wealth of information! I will eventually be doing builds on Pride of Aloha (as Norwegian Sky) and Norwegian Jade so, if you are interested, I would love to reach out sometime in the future when I'm getting close to doing both of those!

      @@thebrickexecutive1400 Mahalo for your reply and yes please do reach out when the time comes though I'm not sure how you'll get in touch with me. The video was very well done especially the explanation of the PVSA and Jones Act. FYI I've authored a book called "Chasing Ships" so for a start you have my name. The last half of the chapters, with the exception of the very last one is dedicated to my time with first ACV/AHC (Independence/Patriot) and then NCL (Sun, Wind, Star, Sky) followed by NCLA's three vessels. You might find some tidbits of information about the Aloha/Sky and the Hawaii/Jade that you might be able to use. Looking forward to your next production.

    Love your videos, especially how you go into the history of the ships. What do you do with the lego ships after? Like I'm sure you break them down because they're so big, but do you keep them around for a big before dismantling them?

    • @thebrickexecutive1400
      @thebrickexecutive1400 3 месяца назад

      It depends on the size. Usually it'll stay up for maybe a week or two, then I'll dismantle them and re-sort the pieces. For builds the size of Icon or Oasis, those usually stay up for several months.
