Hypertherm plasma cutters will solve your problem or go fiber laser. Here is my video of the: "First cut with the YGX 100 Plasma Cutting Torch"

      That was 2 mm it doesn't warp how ever it does leave a crust that is hard to remove. Carbon steel is best what using a compressor. You can polish carbon steel and put a clear coat over it. If you watch this video it shows how it done. ruclips.net/video/P3ZH03FWTbg/видео.html

    Ross, I really liked this video. I have been doing about the same thing with my plasma table. I recently cut out 3 inch tall numbers from 1/8" (3 mm) thick stainless plate. I was curious how thick the material is that you were cutting? Maybe you mentioned it and I missed. The settings I used were 40 amps, 60 inches per minute (1524 mm /min), 90 psi. The nozzle diameter is 0.5 mm. I don't have water in my trough but instead use a high volume extractor fan system. I got more slag than you showed and you did mention about filling your tank to the top to cut down on this. Looks like it did too. Did the water make a big difference? Are there any more precautions to take when using a water bath? As an aside, plasma cutting seems to be a fine balance between heat, travel speed, air pressure and cooling. Oh, and one more question. When you pierce the metal what is the pierce height, pierce time and then the cut height? I find this to be a wee bit elusive as the results have an impact not only on the success of the pierce but on the blow back the nozzle may have to suffer. Anyway thanks for the video. Nice work!

    • @rosswoolley2854
      @rosswoolley2854 11 месяцев назад

      The water will help, you might be able to make a small tray to fit in the table just for when you cut stainless. I sometimes cut at the same speed as mild steel it works. What i cut it the video was 2mm. Pierce height is 3mm the cut height is 1.5mm, I have no delay on 2mm and under and 0.1 second on 3mm. Use the smallest nozzle you have, mine is 1.1mm. The water is safe to use so don't worry about getting zapped just use the ground clamp. How ever i did get zapped on time changing a tip once, stupid me forgot to turn off the plasma. it left a burn mark on my hand from the spanner. Yep i thought that was the end of me that day🫀!

Plus all the wiring is double shielded and conned to the bus bar of the cabinet and run to the table leg with heavy gauge speaker wire. If that is all done and you still have problems you would be best having a second ground rod next to the cabinet.

      @@RustysMetalCutSignsDesigns That will be great, My compressor is 5.5 HP 3 phase + so is the plasma. Easy the wire up. The transformer is 250 KVA and the electrician ran the wires down to the shed from our building. Rusty was it hard to get 3 phase down to your property?

      There was 3 phase power to our property when we bought it, but I had a 3 phase cable installed from the house to the shed, not long after we moved here (nearly 30 years ago).

    Nice build with plenty of detail, Ross. That's definitely going to make lifting plate onto your table, a whole lot easier...and safer, too.

      10;40 pm it,s past your bed time! OH i'm an hour behind you and i be talking! Yes it is better cause it lifts high enough to go over the table. Thanks for the comment.

    Nice Ross I installed new NPN 2mm proxy sensors for Plasma touch Still my masso G3 plasma DTHC not controller not working properly.

      Thanks for the comment. You might have to get back onto the forum. Just a thought is your air pressure not going up and down from the back of the plasma unit. The more pressure the higher the DTHC will have to be. Maybe the compressor on/off and regulator needs adjusting.

      Still have the Proma 150 THC it sits on the side of the plasma unit and the wires run to the Masso controller. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching the video.🙂
