Im about to donthe same on my 1.6 n47, those 3 bolts securing the turbo , were you able to get to the 3rd bolt with wobble or flex extension or a deep socket , or did you have to shift the dpf out the way ? , great video , theres bot many about on the replacement
Pre-load adjuster
Thanks. I'll look into it.
In our garage we found it can be done in about an hour if you just remove the driveshaft and it drops straight down.
Agreed. I had found a much quicker way after filming the video luckily.
Could i ask what symptoms did you have to know it was the egr. Also if you have to have to have a new turbo do you have to remove the engine
I had bought a laptop with some Ista software on it and i could tell by the readings. Also the car had little power on acceleration and the dpf light stayed on. You can change the turbo without removing the engine but you will need to slide it forwards. You also need to get right underneath the car to remove the 3 bolts holding it in. Lastly, you will need to change the turbo to dpf gasket with an original one to ensure that it doesn't leak.
@Restospares ty ours hasn't lost power & no lights on dash, its just very smelliy in the cab and at the end of the exhaust.
@@LandylalaIf it smells inside the cab then you most likely have a leak. You would be best to carry out a leak test.
I have the N47 1.6 engine and after having the DPF gasket (was smoke coming from it) and rocker cover gasket(defo a leak from there) changed recently, I can still here a kind of whistle coming from the engine. I am thinking it could either be a blockage in the air intake manifold or pcv valve. any ideas guys? (at first i thought it was a turbo whine but that works fine).
I doubt it's the pcv as it would most likely run rough. It's worth checking the dpf to turbo gasket. This needs to be original. It's hard to pinpoint it without a leak detector. You can make one easily with a jar and a small compressor.
Lovely car and lovely work well done
Thanks
Ridiculous quality from a garage ! Well done.
Thank you
Manufacturers dont Lacquer undersides of Bonnets...Not going to Look Original........
I'm just thinking. If you don't lacquer it, the paint will fade and look rough pretty quickly. I never noticed that to be honest.
Hi, I have to change the Oval gasket because it is leaking. Is it possible from Down Under? I guess I have to remove the heatshild…
Which seal are you changing exactly? The egr to egr cooler?
@ the gasket of the Turbo oil Return pipe. I have a leak and the oil is running down this except pipe.
@@oliversterz7737 It needs to be done from underneath. You will need a long extension with an allen key extension.
Its not easy as the access is very tight. You also need to unfasten the oil return pipe from the engine.
@@Restospares I guessed the pipe is Just Stuck in the Engine, isn‘t it? Thanks for your help.
Thanks for making this video. Helps a lot! How did it turn out? Working fine with the "copy" egr?
Hi. The car ran perfectly with the other egr. No issues at all.
Excellent video 👌
Thank you 👍
A much more cost affective alternative is to use a Bodyshop Slow Drying Degreaser applied using a chemical resistant Spray Pump Bottle
Ironically i saw someone doing that yesterday and annoyingly I have 25L of it. Lol. Thanks for letting me know. I'll be using that as soon as this runs out.
Wish my honda project would be started by Christmas 😂
I'm very busy with work so I only have a couple of hours a week. It sounds like alot but it really isn't much when it comes to a full restoration. I would definitely start though. Otherwise it will get left for a long time as life always gets in the way.
A lot of work haha
Yes. It's taking a long time. I want it painted by Christmas.
Looking brilliant 🤝
Thanks 👍
I knew you'd get there in the end .👍
Thanks.

Lovely car, annoying to work on.
You've made me learn a lesson, thanks for the info mate!

Not a little affair to release the old belt from the tensioner pulley!!!! Must have huge strength at the end of child's fingers to bend it behind...
I was surprised how hard it was.
Good video..good tip saying when changeing width to do it upright against the wall..im needing the 2 ton 1.plus you showed the platform moves in and out....👍🏻👍🏻🙂
Glad it helped
Forgot to ask can you lift it ok ..or does it need draging.. the 2 ton 1 im looking at goes just over 70kg..👍🏻
I can lift mine to lay it on its side when I'm not using it. It's got a wide base area to lift from so it's not too bad.
Many thanks for the info..🙂👍🏻
well done mate looks good.
Thanks 👍
Your camera is too far away matey! Would have been nice to see it up close. :)
Hi. Thanks for the feedback. I'm currently working on trying different filming options etc. I agree about the distance. I'm just worried about all the sparks flying around into the camera. I have another video going live in about 30 mins however I'll try and take closer shots for the next video.
@@Restospares Oh, I understand. I guess just zoom as best you can and see if it stays in focus. Always tough doing it on your own.
I just found out that I can buy spare lenses and change them quickly so watch this space. I'll try on my next video.
I’ve been looking for a vaguely relevant video to help me get to grips with hands-on EGR experience on my 2011 Mini One D which appears to have a similar engine (N47). Couldn’t find anything else! Will use this to strip it down and consider getting a vacuum tester. Thanks!
A vacuum gauge can help you and they are very cheap to buy.
A long time ago I had a beautiful CRX car👍👍
Nice 👍. I'm hoping to get moving on mine now.
Manufacturer is not a mechanic 😅😅
Nope. I think the guy that designed this was blind.
enjoy the japanese engineering.......hahahahahah
Muchas gracias por el video. Ahora si lo haré. 👌🏼
It’s happened sadly. I know of one case where it was a bench grinder with a wire wheel on one end and the wire let go and fully penetrate a man’s eye. He lost the eye obviously.
Wow. I have to admit that i forget myself at times but it's not worth taking the chance.
@@Restospares No it’s not. You’ve only got 2 eyes and they cannot be replaced. I used to work as an HSE inspector and the accidents you get to know about are horrendous. Most of them could have been prevented if the right PPE was worn and used. My last case was a huge 600 Kg industrial motor was being carried with a strop on each end of the shaft on each fork of the fork lift. The strop was frayed on one end and snapped which caused the other end to snatch the shaft and swing out and hit a man in the back breaking his back and making him paraplegic and wheelchair bound for life. They all knew it was a risk but stupidly took their chances anyway.
Wow that's bad.
Buenas, no hace falta hacer ni la mitad de ese lío para sacar el filtro de partículas
I had found an easier way afterwards. I still had to move the engine forwards as there isn't enough space.
@@Restospares yo lo hago quitando los plásticos donde Val los limpia parabrisas, sacas la batería, sueltas el soporte del motor y con una cincha de amarre desplazas el motor hacia delante, y sale perfecto👍
@@Juan-gs8wx Yes, That's a good idea.
@@Juan-gs8wx yo quito motor y todo fuera xD mucho mas rapido
Great work mate keep at it love the crxs so expensive in Australia
Thanks. Trying to get it painted by the end of the year.
Bro what is that tool called I’ve been looking for that forever now
It's a contour gauge. It's only about 10 pounds from Lidl but you can find them anywhere.
Hello and thank you for your video. I have the same operation to carry out but for replacing the turbo only. approximately how long did it take you?
I had to do it more than once as i cleaned the dpf and it then needed changing anyway. I later also had to replace the turbo. You can replace the turbo in a couple of hours. The problem is that to remove the three bolts from underneath, you need to move the dpf.
@@Restospares thank you for your reply. Your video is really a useful help. beautiful day
Wonderful video, almost about to drop my b16 into my prelude, wish the guy before had used cardboard to organise the bolts haha.
I'm very aware of the fact that I might rebuild it in a few weeks/months so I label everything. I'm planning on repainting the engine soon hopefully. I love a nice prelude. :)
Good work 👍 !
Thanks ✌️
Cool bro big like
Did your mpg improve again after changing the fuel filter? Or were the tyres the issue?
The car ran alot smoother and the mpg increased slightly. Next time round I'll get A rated tyres as i do alot of mileage.
Good work Tristam. What’s that additional mount on the lower drivers side of the front panel?
Hi Jimmy. If it's the one that's not prepped yet, it's the towbar hook.
I service my Civic, but have just paid my local garage £52 to change mine (I supplied the filter which was included in a service kit from Cox Honda). I think it was £52 well spent! Thanks for the video though!!
I honestly think that for £52, I would also have sent it to a mechanic. I now have access to a car lift which is in my crx videos so hopefully it should be alot easier next time round
are you sure the garage really changed it? A lot of mechanics would take your money but wont change it because this job is a pain in the arse. Japanese engineering....hah
why dont you jack car from front . much easier
I wanted alot of access to get in and out however i now have a car tilt lift that should make it much easier now.
Nice one bro 👍
Thanks ✌️
To take the manifold off, you can unbolt the front cross-member, and the remaining 3 engine mounts would still hold the engine in place - unless you want to remove the whole engine.
Thanks. I'm going to be removing the engine anyway for a refurb.
Wear a mask when sanding ffs
Yes agreed. I'm looking into an air fed one.
You don't need the real window seals. As your repainting the complete car, just weld up the small hole at the narrow end of the frame (it's only for locating the seal properly). Just bond the windows back in after paint...looks much better without the seals & no worrying about them shrinking again!
Never even thought about that. I'll have to look at some to see if i like the look. Thanks for the heads up.
Need more videos of the fluffy companion x
Good project 👍
Thank you.
A mate of mine and i were discussing your inventory system and wondered if you were using Emaint or maybe something (anything) better? 🤔 Awesome vids btw

Thank you.
Nice job bro 👍
Thanks. I'll hopefully be taking the engine out this weekend.
@@Restospares cool bro
