Добавлен 31 мар 2019
The Project Cave is my DIY Project center and my man cave! I use tools to create, improve, restore, maintain, install, repair, and experiment! If I can add a motor, a fine finish, flashy lighting, or some cool electronics, AWESOME! Flying sparks and sawdust make it even better! We will succeed or we will learn! The Project Cave is a great place to hang out!

Strange Noise 2015 F150!?!?
#theprojectcave
My truck developed a strange noise that only happened while the RPMs were low and the truck was moving pretty slow. You only heard it when the engine hit a certain harmonic. You can listen to the noise about 50 seconds in.
I've experienced this problem on two occasions before. An old Honda Civic I owned when I was in college was the first time. The second time was with someone's Acura Integra (so it sounded exactly the same as my Civic). I told her what it was just by the sound and she basically said I had no idea what I was talking about. Let me tell you it was real hard for her to apologize after the mechanic told her I was exactly right.
Anyway, it sounds different on the...

Ford 5.0 V8 T-Pipe Coolant Leak Update!
Просмотров 2242 года назад
#theprojectcave Just a quick update about the O ring replacement! Made that repair last week and the mystery coolant leak is no longer a mystery or a leak. The O ring was pretty easy to replace. Just have to take some steps to prevent coolant from spilling everywhere. Aside from that, the repair was pretty straightforward. Now I'm just waiting for the next repair to come my way! Every one of th...
F 150 Slow Coolant Leak! Change the Faulty T Pipe O Ring!
Просмотров 37 тыс.2 года назад
#theprojectcave Found a small puddle of coolant under my F150. Turns out there is a small leak from an unexpected place. The T pipe that comes from the engine and leads back to the radiator contains an O ring on the inside of one of the radiator hoses that is susceptible to leaking after a few years. This coolant leak appears to be fairly common in Ford 5.0 V8 engines from 2011 to 2018. Especia...
Drain Water From A Tank - Champion 4 Flapper Leaves Too Much Water
Просмотров 8452 года назад
#theprojectcave I have an American Standard Champion 4 flapper in the bathroom toilet. I need to drain the tank and remove it in order to continue some work removing wallpaper and painting the bathroom. This particular valve leaves about 1 to 1.5 gallons of water in the tank. Here is a super easy was to drain the tank of that water without spending a lot of time trying to bail the tank with a c...

Change A Table Saw Blade
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 года назад
#theprojectcave Changing the blade on a table saw is an easy task, even if you don't have an arbor wrench. You only need one adjustable wrench, which is great if your saw came with two and you lost one or both or you just never learned how and your manual is unclear. Watch this video and I will show you how to change the blade on a table saw with one wrench and a piece of scrap lumber. This pro...

It allows for both keyed and keyless entry. Also, it works both via wifi and blue tooth. You will use the existing bolts from your lock so there is no need to purchase any special mounting kit. It comes with everything you need. If yo...
Installing A Grommet - Beach Shade Saved
Просмотров 673 года назад
#theprojectcave Installing a grommet is a simple process and in this case, saved our beach shade. The grommets that held the rod the shade used to keep its shape, pulled out. The rod then slid freely and the shade became a little unstable. With a grommet kit I picked up for a few dollars, I was able to save our beach shade. We needed that since there is a five year old and a new baby that need ...
Toro CCR 3650 Snow Blower Scraper Blade Replacement - Revised
Просмотров 4 тыс.3 года назад
#theprojectcave This version is revised to include a notice to drain the fuel tank by running the engine until empty or manually draining it into an approved container. This helps prevent fuel leakage when tipping the machine back to work on the scraper. The CCR-3650 snow blower needs the scraper blade replaced. This is a part that will wear out and is an easy DIY repair. How easy? The steps ar...
Toro CCR3650 Revisited! Snow Last Night and Got Rid of the Smokey Exhaust!
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.3 года назад
Here is an update on my Toro3650 video from last January! Last winter a neighbor gave me this old Toro CCR 3650 snow blower. It hadn't been run in five years and needed some work. We didn't get any snow and I was called out about my fuel oil mixture. It was smoking like a chimney. We got some snow this year and I improved the mix. The smoking problem was greatly improved and this little machine...
DIY Plywood Reindeer - An Easy Holiday Project You Can Do With Only A Few Tools
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
I recently decided to tackle the Plywood Reindeer. I found some inspiration from several different images, examples, and plans online and developed layout that allows for two reindeer to be created from one 4X8 sheet of plywood. The project can be completed with just a jigsaw. A sander will make it faster. After cutting and sanding, it is time for painting. It will be displayed outside, so pain...
Wallpaper Border Removal
Просмотров 2493 года назад
#theprojectcave Trying to remove wallpaper can be a real pain, even if is only a border. To make the wallpaper removal process easier, I suggest getting a little steam to help. Wet wallpaper is easier to remove than dry. The moisture helps to soften the glue and allows you to peel it away from the wall. But just wetting the paper is not perfect. Using a power steamer was even more helpful. The ...

#theprojectcave If you are in the market for a torque wrench or you have just been looking to step up your wrench turning game, holiday sales are here. Husky torque wrenches are on sale again and these are the best prices you will see all year. The full price seems pretty good. I even paid full price for one. However, I managed to pick up the other one on sale a while ago and I was extra happy ...
How To Sharpen A Chisel - Sandpaper, A Piece Of Kitchen Granite, And A Honing Guide - Best Results
Просмотров 3893 года назад
#theprojectcave If you are sharpening a chisel and you are a home gamer, like myself, freehand is probably not the way to go. It is too easy to mess up your blade. I use a honing guide, some sandpaper, and a piece of kitchen granite (Don't Use The Countertop In Your Kitchen!) I've gotten great results with simple jigs, but a year and a half ago, I was given this guide that handles blades of man...

DIY Picnic Table - The Perfect Project
Nice, I was looking to get one of these whalen shelves and turn it into kind of a wardrobe for my closet since my landlord left me with nothing. I have to hang MANY clothes, as well as store some heavy boxes on top. I was wondering if anyones ever done this before and has any suggestions?
Looks like exactly what I need to do on a small area that had sunken slightly. Thanks
Some reason didn't just put in a vice?
Thanks so much. I thought i was ruined
Thank you. Very useful, Kevin !
Now you have a pc. Of rod to get caught on
Hey Kevin! I was looking for a video on this… and I ran into you, another Kev from a Cave! Small World! 🌎
Just picked one up at a yard sale for 5 bucks, hasn’t been started in 5 years. I didn’t realize it was a 2 cycle. I hope mine is as easy to get going. It needs new rubber blades and scraper bar too. Your video helped.
Mine has a two rings one is concave to the housing and the other one is oring
Thank you so much Kevin! I bought this Kobalt saw used and was dismayed when I noticed the laser was on the right (and hidden from view by the motor unless you lower your eyes to just about blade level). What the heck were they thinking?
oh and thank you for posting. That is the sound
mine just started doing that. It sounds like an ac clutch but its not. I can't find where it is.
Thanks for sharing. Other than for identifying the problem area, was there another reason for chalking out the stones?
How does Waste Management know to come get tge bag?
My 2016 started the exact same thing today. I kinda had half a notion that's what the problem is... I'll crawl under there tomorrow. THANKS !!
Crazy money for something thats not necessary, but to each their own. Nice video.
I just got one but I live in the city. There are wires over my small driveway. The street is parked up. I don’t know where to put this thing!
Thanks. Bought an old rockwell with no arbor lock. Owners manual had no mention of blade change. I did not want to put a screwdriver in the teeth of the blade.
How did you know what order to reinstall the pavers in. Does it make a difference what order you reinstall them?
Just what I was looking for to see if it would work. Didn't even think to put wood inside the PVC. Might try to fill them with concrete.
Just what I needed! Thanks
Hi, the plastic ring that sits on top of the rubber o-ring is called what?
I like this video. Thank you for sharing
I have a 12" Kobalt miter saw with the same laser guide and the light works but it does not show line on wood piece
Clever. Well done! 👍
Nice video Kevin..I have almost exactly the same issue. Thanks for the tips.
Great video Thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks for this. Other videos showed a different key fob and your video has me going. Ty.
I bought a 113.221611 and it doesn't have any guides or extra accessories. do you know the best place to find parts?
Was not deep enough in the concrete
deep six the BS music.. I stopped watching because of that... Garbage .
Turn down the volume of the video and listen to music that you like. "Crosscut Saw" by Albert King would be my choice for this video.
Hello...can this be used with bottle jacks??
I wish these questions for answered! I had the same.
I hate the music 🎶
Use a jack stand!
What if you already cut the rod?
you gotta make a video on the spring guard
Man, the spring on a safeguard came off. How do I fix it?
I worry if pick up is available in all areas ?
Why worry. Just call them.
@Clicks-Prosper what a wonderful idea thank you
You have to use paver sand or crushed stone dust it’s called. That’s just regular sand.
It worked perfect, thanks so much
Very cool. Added to the "someday..." list.
Your the man. Saved me alot of swearing in my garage . Simple but smart !!!!
i loosen the filter a tad..then poke a lil hole on bottom to drain it first....then unscrew it off....less mess just pulling it off
Thank you as well, the lazer was also to the right of cut line . I expect adjustment to be easy after your explanation. Thank you for the knowledge.
Great suggestion. Thanks.
Are the feet at the bottom of the legs threaded on? I am considering buying this stool, but I was hoping I could thread on casters from Amazon.
Looked like you were using Quikrete and not sand. Am I wrong?
That was awesome! Thanks for the tip!
I just purchased a 2016 F150 and looked for the leak at purchase, but there was not a drop. The original owner may have had it done when the dealer flushed the coolant. Nope, two months later, there are many drops. It's an easy fix, thanks to videos like this.
