What does this noise sound like? Alternator or water pump bearing? Fan belt? Most noticeable when cold.

1961 Lincoln Continental Commercial

I recently discovered this rare two minute commercial on 16 mm film and had it professionally transferred to a flash drive so that I could upload it here. This hasn't been seen by the public in fifty years! Enjoy. This commercial first aired on "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", November 1, 1960, season 6, episode 6, "Pen Pal" and was shown on all other episodes during November.

A filmstrip describing the 1965 Lincoln. I didn't have the record that goes with it, so I edited it and put music to it.

My 1964 Lincoln Convertible Before Restoration
I always liked the convertible model. It looked solid. Solid like a brick.
People shouldn’t be able to earn income by posting the work of others.
You're right! I guess RUclips is making money off of this video which I posted and gave to the world for free. After finding the 16 mm film on Ebay, I paid good money to have it transferred to a flash drive so that I could upload it here. A while back, ads started appearing before the video and I haven't received one penny. I wish I knew how to delete the ads. By the way, as a member of the Lincoln and Continental Owners Club, and Director of the Western Region, as well as a trustee of the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation, I have full permission to post this video. And as I stated earlier, I have never received one penny in compensation for my costs of providing this video for all to see.
My father’s first Lincoln of many!
THESE WERE GLORIOUS CARS. NOW ALL ANYONE REMEMBERS IS THIS IS THE CAR PRESIDENT KENNEDY WAS ASSASINATED IN.
This is the sort of cars we need. Not boring crossovers.

It was a very beautiful car for the time. It still looks elegant and a solid piece of work. I remember that a gentleman I knew who had a business in my little town bought one. I got to ride in it one afternoon with the top down. It was a real treat!!
JFK was killed in 61 Lincoln Continental.
Multiple design award winner. On my wishlist.
Style and distinguished charm
Truly ahead of it's time
Love the backseat passenger "suicide doors".
What's amazing is how do people fit inside the car??? No leg room
Great looking car (despite the INSANE size). The convertible is lovely. No wonder it didn't sell, though. They built a fabulous-looking touring car with NO luggage space. What were you supposed to do, tow a little trailer behind you for luggage?
Well done Jim.
1:32 is not REALLY accurate. This car rode on the same platform as the 1961 Ford Thunderbird, and was built on the SAME assembly lines. The ONLY American car that had a "bespoke" platform, AND its own plant! (And thus, built to a different "standard") in 1961 would have been the (Chrysler) Imperial. Every other Chrysler product was unibody in 1961 EXCEPT the Imperial. GM could make such a claim, But only for the CORVAIR! Even the Corvette was still riding a shortened 1950's platform from the "regular" Chevrolet in 1961.
My Uncle Smiley had a Lincoln with suicide doors from the early 1960's. It looked so understated but elegant.
One of the best looking cars Ford ever built.
Absolutely love the convertible although I have to say they are definitely tubby looking. There was a good episode on The Andy Griffith Show where a man came in with one of these and it broke down. Lots of good video LOL
Great video
My Grandfather had this car. Some of my happiest memories of him were when he took me and my sister for ice cream in his beautiful Lincoln. I miss those times.
I always liked the 62-65 Lincoln, then 66-69.. To this day, even as kid, could not figure out that "weird" 1965 grille, when see it. It simply looked under sized, strange, non luxury. Cadillac had a gigantic front grille with huge power dome hood. Imperials had a stunning thrusting "V" slant grille. Then there was Lincoln's "pug dog" nose. Drastic change in 66. What can ya say over fifty years later.
I'm not a fan of the pug Dog look either. I think the 65 looks great but admittedly it lacks the absolute freshness of the 61-63.
Now now guys, don't loose your heads over it. It's just a car!
Love it Jim
Can't believe it was running!
Your car Jim ?
Yes, my friend shot this video the day that I bought the car. It was 1996.

The pejorative "boxy-looking " could have been invented for this rectangular design, which was hardly a design at all.
Great job! Some unique cars thank you!
My two cars should be !!! 🎉@ this party. I see mikes and Andy
Lots of Lincolns & TBirds.
Truly one of the most beautiful designs ever to grace Lincoln showrooms. Stunning in it's simplicity & uncluttered adornment...
This design never gets old, always looks fresh
Many cars of the 60’s had clean and simple styling which has stood the test of time better than anything made after the 1990’s since curves simply don’t age all that well compared to simple and straight lines. Another thing too is curvy lines and exteriors eat into the space and ergonomics of the interior, explains why today’s cars lack room inside along with having poor ergonomics along with dangerously horrible visibility which to me is dangerous since if you can’t see what’s around you, it’s just asking for another collision with another. As someone who’s 23, I’d buy something like this in a heartbeat if they started making them like this again since I am simply tired of today’s cars that have no style or personality and everyone simply is a worry wart when it comes to practicality and safety but it’s not practical to have something that just puts you in a bad headspace whenever you look at it.
@@seana806 Exactly mate
@@seana806 I couldn't agree more
IMO, the '66 and '67 designs were the peak.
The 61 Conti & the 61 Buick were 2 of my all time favs.Ill take the white convertible..thanks!
I love it 😻 I'll take your entire stock! But really, I do like it a lot and would love to have one.
Looks like that was filmed on Jekyll Island, GA or similar venue. Does anyone have any information and the big question, does a harp sound play every time you open the doors?
My older brothers each had a white one awesome cars
Does anyone realize the real leader Cadillac, had center opening doors on the 1957 Eldorado brougham. Once again Cadillac is the most copied automobile in the world, always has been and always will be.
1961 revived the Lincoln brand. Ford almost dropped the Lincoln.
Elegant!
I have never seen that two-tone black and white interior before.
I'm lucky to own a '62 Continental convertible...my dream car since I was a kid! :)
I'm 65 & remember the first time I saw 1 back in about 65.I asked my dad what's that?I was memorized then as I am now.Bucket list car, that 61 convertible is stunning!
Kennedy's Death car ☠️💀
Better than a Rolls by far, but that didn’t take much doing either.
A 2 year warranty.
This is the most modern looking car for 1961.
I have a ‘51 and a ‘54. The ‘61 is my dream car. Can’t find one tho.
I bought this car used from a private owner in 1968 and had it until about 1981. It was black but had white interior seats with black centeis with black centers and the dashboard of course was black. It was a very smooth writing car and cornering on winding roads was surprisingly sure footed for a car at size. I remember going around some corners on a particular road at 65 miles an hour with the tires squealing and I recently drove the same road in a Ford S UV at 40 miles an hour and thought I was gonna fall off the road. Sadly because I lack a garage I could not keep the car past 1981 and I had to sell it.
Old adds are cool.👍
